Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Anybody want some cards, part deux.

I got everybody’s cards pulled that asked for them in my giveaway.  I’m planning on getting them packaged up tomorrow evening or on Tuesday.  I may get a few of the smaller packages sent later in the week.  The bigger packages will have to wait a week or so before I have the funds to ship them (rent seems a little more important at this point).  Those larger packages where you guys are helping with shipping, I plan on shipping them off, then I’ll let you know how much I paid, and you can reimburse me for some of it afterwards.

I plan on putting the remaining cards in team order, so if you would like to claim a team, feel free in the comments below.  You can also claim players if you like and I will try to accommodate those as well.  I’ve already had claims for Tracy Jones, Derek Jeter and Dustin Pedroia.  Same rules apply, I’m just getting rid of the cards but I won’t say no to some White Sox or my Player Collection cards coming back to me.  I will pay the shipping as long as your request isn’t a huge amount of cards, if that’s the case, a little help from you would be appreciated.

Some of the teams have very few cards as I have already traded most of them away, but I do have some teams with decent sized stacks.  After you claim your team (and I get them in team order) I will let you know how many cards are coming your way.  I think I’ll wait till Tuesday to package the set cards just in case I need to add some team cards to those stacks for you.
So comment below or email me on anything you may want.

Free Ebay Purchase

Here is another free (Ebay bucks) card.  I only had $3 or $4 in Ebay bucks so I made some of my cheap purchases.

Free – 2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces (Purchase Price-$.20/shipped)

I was shocked to get this at 20 cents.  But certainly pleased to win it.  I love these Masterpieces cards.

Anybody want some cards?

cards

Ok fellow bloggers.  I don’t have much left for trade and I just want to get rid of the cards that I do have that aren’t in my PC’s.  The box above is all I have left.  The first row (left) has vintage-1990, the 2nd row is 1991-2007, 3rd row is 2008-2009, last row is 2010-2012.  Guess you can tell when I started buying again.  I was buying boxes in 2009 which explains almost the whole 3rd row being almost all 2009.  Then about half the last row is 2010 and the other half 2011 with a sliver of 2012.

So below, I have listed most of my vintage with card numbers.  Then I listed the later vintage and everything else with how many cards I have in that set.  So if you have a want list from one of the sets listed below, give me the link, and I’ll see if I have anything for you.  Multiple sets are just fine, I just want to get rid of them.  I do have cards from sets not listed, I essentially didn’t list the set unless I had 25+ cards of the set.  And also listed in that count are inserts for that set.  So if your collecting an insert set from one of those listed, I may have those as well.  Just ask.

  • 1960 Topps (313) – 1962 Topps (113)
  • 1970 Topps (255, 274,337, 345, 352, 414) – 1971 Topps (56, 126,169, 249, 251, 262, 353) – 1972 Topps (377, 462) – 1973 Topps (51, 99, 107, 110, 117, 124, 166, 250, 271, 287, 393) – 1974 Topps (21, 46, 147, 182, 286, 462, 500, 501, 641)
  • 1975 Topps (41 cards) – 1976 Topps (79 cards) – 1977 Topps (20 cards) – 1978 Topps (54 Topps)
  • 1981 Topps (61 Topps) – 1986 Topps (38 cards) – 1987 Topps (92 cards) – 1988 Topps (117 cards) – 1989 Topps (83 cards)
  • 1991 Conlon (262 cards) – 1991 Topps (27 cards)
  • 2007 Fleer Ultra (122 cards) – 2007 UD Future Stars (30 cards) – 2008 Upper Deck Timeline (45 cards) – 2009 Topps 206 (54 cards) - 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom (77 cards) - 2009 Topps Unique (41 cards) - 2009 Upper Deck (40 cards) - 2009 Upper Deck Icons (29 cards) - 2009 O-Pee-Chee (44 cards)
  • 2010 Bowman Platinum (48 cards) – 2010 Upper Deck (37 cards) – 2011 Topps (299 cards) – 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen (41 cards) – 2011 Topps Heritage (58 cards) – 2011 Topps Lineage (85 cards) – 2011 Topps Update (75 cards)

I do have a few stipulations.  If you end up asking for a crap load of cards, such as you say send me all your 2009’s, then I will probably ask for some shipping cost.  And with all the packages I hope to be sending out, I may only send a few a week, depending on cost, so if I get 50 requests, you might have to wait a bit before it gets sent.  But I’ll keep you updated as I go along.

So here’s your chance to fill some sets (hopefully). I’m not looking to trade, you can have what you need.  But I certainly won’t turn down any cards for my PC’s either.  I haven’t stopped collecting, I just curbed my spending so I don’t purchase a whole lot of anything that doesn’t go into my PC’s.

I’m helping out the set builders first, then I’ll take care of you team and player collectors.  If you request something, make sure you have an email address in the comment or at least attached to your blogger profile.  I have a long weekend coming up so I’m hoping to work on getting your cards together then.

I’m not expecting to have a lot of what you need, but you never know.  So send me the links to your want lists and I’ll start checking if I can fill any.

Trade with Dennis

Dennis of “Too Many Granderson’s” and I have an ongoing trade, he just sends me stuff when he gets it and if I ever manage to pick anything up for him, I send it.  We are way lopsided right now.  I owe him so much.  This time he only sent 3 cards for me but he also sent a small stack of Cubs for my son.  He loved those Dennis, big thanks for those.  And these.

trade-dennis01

I’ve gotten a few of these Letterman from Razor from Dennis.  I know he gave be a Gordon Beckham as well.  I do love these even if they are manufactured, but they are autographed so that makes up for that.  I can’t tell you much about Dexter Carter, but I have heard of him so he must at least be decent.

Here’s the big hit though.  Dennis sent me a message saying he was heading for a card show and he wanted to know if he should keep an eye out for me for anything specific.  I told him not really, I didn’t have any money plus I’m thinking that I already owe him a bunch anyways.  A few hours later, he sends me another message telling me he got an awesome card for me and when he gets home he’d scan it and let me know.  I was all excited, trying to think what card he got me.  I received the scan and was stoked.  I’ve been looking for one of these for awhile but they are always out of my price range.  What is it?  Take a look at this beauty.

trade-dennis02

A well loved 1961 Topps Billy Williams rookie card.  Obviously Dennis got it at a great price because of the condition but I don’t care, this card is still awesome.  If I really sat down and made a list of my top 5 wants, I think this would have been at the top.

For those that don’t know or are questioning why myself, being a White Sox fan collect a Hall of Famer from the Cubs, he was my dad’s favorite player.  And why this card is high on the list.  I used to own it when I was a kid and it was one of my favorite’s back then.  So to get it again, Is awesome

Huge thanks to Dennis, check him out at “Too Many Grandersons” and if you want to see the other card he sent me, check out “Too Many Manninghams”.  I’ll try to get that post up right after this one.

MIA

I know I’ve been MIA for a bit (that’s Missing in Action, not abbreviation for the Marlins).  We’ve been working constantly.  I’m in the middle of a 12, possibly 13 days straight.  But all that is about to change.  After Memorial Day weekend, our plant is adding a 4th shift.  So now I will work 3 12 hour days one week, and 4 12 hour days the next.  The 4 day weeks will include the weekend.  So while the 12 hour days will be hard on my old ass.  The days off will be nice.  And hopefully I can get back to some more regular posting.  I’ve got plenty of material with some trades, ebay and even some free cards.  So don’t go anywhere, I will be back in the near future.

And just to prove I have cards to show off, there is this.

ebay01

Luis Aparicio - 2010 Topps Cards Your Mom Through Out (1973)

Technically I paid $.60 for this card but I spent some Ebay bucks so I didn’t pay anything for it.  I only had $3 or $4 in Ebay bucks so I searched out for my usual cheap cards for my collections.  This one obviously goes to the Luis Aparicio collection.  Stay tuned for more.

Player Collection Spotlight–Paul Konerko

In this series, I randomly select a card from my player collections and show it off here. Being that it’s random, it could be a base, insert, parallel, auto, relic or any other kind of card I have. It could be from Paul Konerko, Tom Seaver, Luis Aparicio, Billy Williams, Dave Dravecky and even Mike Hart or Peyton Manning. I will put a mark next to it on my PC list so it doesn’t get repeated.

Cheap Ebay Pickup

This was the last cheap ebay pickup from awhile back.  I do have some free Ebay pickups coming though.

ebay08

  • Juan Uribe – 2007 Upper Deck game-used jersey ($1.41/shipped)

Juan was huge while he was here.  While he did annoy me with his bat, his defense was 2nd to none.  His bat was streaky, when he was hot, he was on fire.  But if he wasn’t hot, he sucked.  And it was always one or the other.  But I liked him for the most part.  Of course, after he left the Sox, a friend of mine at work found out he knew his cousin and he could have gotten us tickets.

I was happy to get a game-used jersey for $1.41 though, regardless of how streaky he was.

Contest win

Matthew of “Number 5 Type Collection” had sort of a contest.  It was awhile ago, like the post with Ted, I’ve had them scanned and hadn’t taken the time to write the post.  I’m not sure I remember exactly what happened as far as the contest.  You just told him your top 3 (?) teams, and he sent you one of them.  I took the White Sox (obviously) then I think the Reds and Mets (in hopes of some Tom Seaver love.)  But Matthew selected me for the White Sox.  This is just a few of the stack he sent me.

contest-matthew02

I have a few of the O-Pee-Chee blacks, I really like them.  But I didn’t have those 2.  The black border always goes great with Sox cards.  I didn’t have any Denny’s cards so that was definitely a first for me.

contest-matthew03

Lots of Allen & Ginter’s love.  Which is great because I never buy packs of that set.  Too many non-baseball cards for my liking.  I don’t love the mini’s like everybody else does.  Too much of a pain to store.  I haven’t gotten any mini card pages yet so they are just annoying.  But I do need them for the White Sox collection so there you go.  I feel like I’m OCD because I can’t say no even though I don’t like them.

contest-matthew01

And of course, getting White Sox cards mean I get some Paul Konerko’s for the player collection.  Both these are new to that.  Like I said above, I love the black bordered O-Pee-Chee’s and the UD Supreme card is pretty awesome as well.

Thanks Matthew, don’t let the timeliness of this post fool you, these cards were greatly appreciated.  Check out Matthew’s blog over at “Number 5 Type Collection”.

Card Show Vintage #7

I told in the previous posts that I found a quarter box with some vintage, here are some of my finds. Working from the newest to the oldest.

cardshow01

1 1970.  In my final post of the vintage card show pickups, I got a single 1970 card.  So a pretty good haul for $6 if I say so myself.

Card Show Vintage #6

I told in the previous posts that I found a quarter box with some vintage, here are some of my finds. Working from the newest to the oldest.

cardshow02

1971’s.  I was so excited picking these up, that even when I scanned them, I didn’t realize there was a duplicate.  Oops!  These were the afore mentioned colored borders that caught my eye.  There were quite a few of these and if I had Ted’s want list handy, I would have looked for some for him but all I took with me were my vintage White Sox lists.

Card Show Vintage #5

I told in the previous posts that I found a quarter box with some vintage, here are some of my finds. Working from the newest to the oldest.

cardshow03

3 1972’s.  2 more towards the team set and another leaders card with Wilbur Wood.  Have I mentioned that I love vintage?

Card Show Vintage #4

I told in the previous posts that I found a quarter box with some vintage, here are some of my finds. Working from the newest to the oldest.

cardshow04

3 1973’s.  Again, only 2 count towards the team set.  But a 1973 Wilbur Wood leaders card, oh yeah.  You might recognize the other 2 on that card as well.  Not bad for a quarter, eh?  Oh yeah, the other 2 cards put me 6 cards away from the 1973 team set.

Card Show Vintage #3

I told in the previous posts that I found a quarter box with some vintage, here are some of my finds. Working from the newest to the oldest.

cardshow05

6 1974’s.  Only 4 of these count towards the team set but I grabbed the Rookie Pitchers and the NNO checklist to go along with them.  At a quarter, can I really turn them down.  And with the 4 that do count, it puts me 6 cards away from that team set.

Card Show Vintage #2

Before I get to today’s vintage, I posted an update on the MS Walk: 2012 that I’ve mentioned before on this blog.  The update is on my other blog, you can see it here.  Thanks to all of you who have donated and you can click the banner at the bottom of the update post and still donate if you feel generous.  Now on to the cards.

I told in the previous post that I found a quarter box with some vintage, here are some of my finds.  Working from the newest to the oldest.

cardshow06

4 1975’s.  I was very happy with these.  So excited that I didn’t realize I grabbed a dupe and even scanned it before I noticed.  This years team set is probably the closest vintage team set I am close to completing.  And upon further review, I only need 4 more cards.

Card Show vintage #1

I went to the card show probably about a month ago.  My wife went with me so I planned on making it quick.  That, and I only had $7 to spend so I walked past most tables looking for some cheap vintage.  We went by a table that had a bunch of boxes marked at a quarter.  I was just going to walk by because there was no way there was going to be vintage in them.  But as I glanced at the boxes, I saw a certain colored bordered cards so I stopped and went over and sure enough there was vintage.  So I went through all of the vintage cards, pulled all of the White Sox cards out and stacked them up in years, then my wife went through my want lists and stacked the ones I needed.  I ended up spending $6.  Put down my money and left the show.  I’ll show each year per post, starting with the baby’s and working our way to the oldster’s.

cardshow07

I only got one from 1978, but that’s the newest.  Stick around for some older pickups for only a quarter a piece.

30-Year Old Cardboard - Talking Baseball and Baseball Cards while focusing on the 70's and 80's

Go over and check out the awesome prizes at “30-Year Old Cardboard”.  Relics, Auto’s, HOF lots & more.  All because he puts out a great blog and he’s hitting 500,000 page views.  Go check it out here.

Trade with Crinkly Wrappers

Yeah, I probably made this trade 2 or 3 months ago.  I suck.  The bad part is I even scanned them awhile back and they’ve been sitting in my folder on my computer just waiting for me to type something out.  I suck.  But Ted doesn’t.  If I remember correctly, this wasn’t actually a trade.  I purchased a bunch of 1973’s at a great cost from Ted because he had just completed his set and he threw these additional cards in.

trade-ted02

2010 Upper Deck’s that I needed.  I thought I had a bunch of these, but all 5 above were new to the Sox collection.  A post is an oddball which are always great as well as team cards are great.  I wish they would have used these team cards more throughout the years.

trade-ted01

He also sent me these Peyton Manning’s for that player collection.  I don’t ever buy any of his cards since I don’t really collect much football so I always appreciate getting them in trades.

And of course, the purchased cards.

trade-ted03

I fill my team collection first so these 7 cards went to those before the 1973 set.

A big thanks to Ted from “Crinkly Wrappers” for throwing in these cards and for giving me a big boost on my 1973 set.  You’ll see more of those if I ever finish posting my set pages.

Cheap Ebay Pickup

ebay07

  • Tom Seaver – 2010 Topps Vintage Legends ($.11/shipped)

New Tom Seaver at $.11/shipped.  Hells yeah!  I don’t get to many Tom Seavers with the cheap pickups so I was definitely glad to grab this one.  And I always like the Reds cards because that’s who I remember him playing for when I as growing up.  And the White Sox of course.

Catching up

Woo Hoo!  After reading a couple of posts, you guys let me know that we could finally update our blog rolls.  So I did.  Both the Sports and the Cards blog rolls have finally been updated.  Current stats are (Sports – 33 blogs, Cards – 230).  With having 230 in the Cards blog roll is, I only show the max of 25 other than all because the blog roll is just huge if I don’t limit it.  The bad part about that is, when I just now went back and looked, it only went back 4 hours.  So if you want to stay on my blog roll, then you need to post 6 times a day, or every 4 hours.  I know you want to.

I have gotten a few more packages in the mail from a couple of bloggers as well as some more cheap (free) Ebay purchases (Ebay Bucks), and I hit a card show a little ways back and got some more vintage.  So I have stuff to come, but I have to have the time to do so.

For those that don’t read my other blog, the little league decided to start one more team for the 6, 7 and 8 years olds.  After refusing to be head coach at the start, they came back to me because nobody else would so I couldn’t say no.  They knew I’ve been assisting other coaches for the last 4 or 5 years with my daughter’s team so I’d be able to do it if I wanted to.  They started the 6th team in order to spread the kids out and get more playing time for them.  So between coaching my son’s team, and assisting my daughter’s team, I’m out at the ballpark about 4 nights a week.  So things will continue to be sporadic around here.  Sorry about that.  But real life will be getting in the way for the next few months.  I am still reading blogs, because I do that at work some.  I will probably fall behind, but eventually I will read them.

Also, this Saturday is the afore mentioned MS walk.  Thank you all who have donated, it is greatly appreciated.  My wife is always amazed at my blogosphere friends.  As you all know, this walk is very near and dear to our hearts.  So thanks again.  We’ve made T-shirts this year and have more walkers on our team then last year, so we’re pretty excited for “Team Laws”.  If you’ve been debating on donating, click the banner below.  I really don’t care if you only want to give $1, we are happy with anything you can give.  You can also paypal me if you’d like.
