Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Vintage Collection–late 1970’s

I’ve broken the 80’s down to a couple of posts so I figured I might as well keep the theme going.  These are my Vintage pick-ups for the late 1970’s.

Nothing overly exciting here but believe it or not, I don’t have a lot of 1979’s.  I’m assuming that I just haven’t ran into them.

You can never go wrong with a Tom Seaver, especially vintage.  I received that in a trade for my Tom Seaver collection but I already had one so it comes over here.  If I had to guess, I’d say the Jim Sundberg came with the previously mentioned Texas Rangers lot that I had gotten.

A mixed bag of 1978’s.  I’ve always liked the cursive in the team names on this set.

A couple of duplicates from the White Sox collection.

Not too bad of a lot of 1977’s above.  The Boston Red Sox came in a lot on ebay, I don’t remember how much I paid though.  My record keeping has really sucked as of late.  Good to see a Jim Kaat as a couple of his White Sox cards have been elusive for my vintage team collections.

I won this lot of 1977’s on ebay as well.  I got it at less than $.35 a card but I don’t remember an exact price.  That’s still a great price considering some of the names up there in the Turn Back the Clock subset.

  1. '70s cards are great fun. I'm trying to collect '77 and '79 sets now and I get a kick out of every one, especially ones I didn't see first time when I was a kid (that Mazzilli card you showed is totally new to me).

    1. I didn't get into collecting until 1981 so most of them are new to me. I had some when I started collecting but not very many. Older cards were a lot harder to come by back then compared to today.

Sorry about the word verification, but blogger sucks at filtering out the comments as of late. As bad as their last update is.
