Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

1979 Topps
That is an awesome array of players to be included to the vintage collection. I realize they are not high dollar cards but look at some of those names.

1977 Topps ($.54)
1977 Topps ($.50)
1978 Topps ($.40)
1978 Topps ($.52)
1978 Topps ($.25)
The above cards put the 1977 Topps set at 63 cards (9.55%), the 1978 Topps set at 92 cards (12.67%) and the 1979 Topps set at 67 cards (9.23%). A long way to go in all 3 sets but it's not like I expected to finish this in the next 10 years or so. That was part of the reason I started this collection, along with I love the cards, it's something I can work on the rest of my life.

1986 Fleer ($.14)
1986 Fleer ($.19)
These 12 cards from 1986 aren't terribly exciting I know, but I needed them all and as you can see, I didn't pay much to begin with.

I finished scanning on my February pick-ups yesterday, I still have to crop them all to single card pictures which I'm going to do today. You'll still see some January pick-ups into March because I haven't finished those yet. I'm hoping to have enough time to do a January and a February pick-up post each day until the January is done. I have a lot of cards for the February Pick-Ups because it was tax time so I went to a couple of places and picked up a lot of cards, cheaply. Plus I finally found a somewhat local card shop and I bought a few cards there as well. I'll talk about that later.

January Pick-Ups - Cal Ripken Jr Collection

This months pick-ups come from
  1. Dennis at "Too Many Verlanders" and "Too Many Manninghams"
  2. Sluggo (my cousin)
  3. Ebay
  4. Packs (I actually bought some packs)

I've randomed and todays selection are going to the Cal Ripken Jr Collection

1987 Fleer Baseballs Best Sluggers
1994 Topps Black Gold
Got these 2 of Cal from Dennis who is also a Ripken collector. I always enjoy the 80's fleer best sets, I used to pick up every one I could because they had so many superstars. Also the rare black gold from 1994. I really don't know how rare they are but I know when I bought stuff in 1994, I didn't get very many of them

1994 Topps Gold
Another 1994 Topps gold, just without the black. Picked this up for $.46.

1991 Field of Vision Silver Star Holograms
I don't really know what this is but that was the label on the Ebay listing. I picked up this semi-oddball card for $.34.
2012 Topps Archives
Vintage look is always good, especially when you only pay $.34.
2012 Topps Archives Reprints
We finish it off with another card that looks older than it is. This one was also $.34.

Technically the last 3 cards were in a lot which is why they all listed at $.34. It was actually a 5 card lot, it came with 2 duplicates of the 2012 Topps Archives up there. So since we are being technical, I only paid a little over $.20 a piece.

1965 Topps
1965 Topps
1965 Topps
1966 Topps
1969 Topps
I love getting these vintage cards from my cousin, I'm actually surprised that I get them because he does card shows so I would think he could sell these. The White Sox I get are no surprise, nobody wants those in North Carolina, but these?

1969 Topps

I actually have no record of purchasing this so it was either a throw in (which I find hard to believe) or somehow it got sent to the wrong person. There isn't any cards that I didn't receive so I can't even say that they just sent me the wrong card. Knowing my record keeping, it was probably sent to me by Sluggo.

1969 Topps
I picked up this 1969 Topps for $.54
