Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Vintage player and vintage cards

I got 3 envelopes today with 4 cards. 1 envelope contained a 3 card lot of vintage and the other a vintage player, just not technically a vintage card, probably not technically a vintage player either but oh well.

Seeing the Kid in a Giants jersey just doesn't look right. I picked up this 1991 Upper Deck of Gary Carter for $.15/shipped. This is my 101st card of Gary Carter.

I picked up this 3 card lot of 1980 Topps Dodgers for $.68/shipped which puts all 3 under a quarter. These 3 cards put that set at 135 cards.

Oddball Yaz

I got one card today but it's a pretty slick card as in it's an oddball. It kind of reminds me of the Jimmy Dean cards from years ago.

I picked up this 1993 Spectrum Diamond Club promo card for $.25/shipped. Oddball Hall of Famer, yes please. I wonder if they chose this photo because his jersey is covered, it seems to much of a coincidence. We can't even blame Topps on this one, it's pre-Topps monopoly. This is my 38th card of Yaz.

3 card Monday

I had to open another dispute on Ebay today. Most of the time, I either get a response or a refund. I never get upset if they respond with a my bad or oh crap! I forgot. I've been there and things get in the way. I've gotten cards over a month late before and as long as they send it, I still leave positive feedback. Most of the time, I just get a refund with no explanation. I wonder how many of those are just people who refused to send the cards because I won them so cheap. Doesn't matter to me because unless they used tracking, which who does that with a PWE, Paypal guarantees my money. I feel like an asshole starting a dispute for only $.15. I know it's not a lot of money, but it's a whole another card I could have purchased and it certainly isn't my fault that I won it so cheap, it's not like I cheated the system. Oh well, I'm sure I'll probably get the refund.

I did get 3 envelopes today with 3 cards. 2 White Sox, 2 Vintage and 1 player collection.

I picked up this 1980 Topps for $.25/shipped. This card puts that set at 132 cards and just over 18% complete.

I picked this up for $.23/shipped, it goes to the Vintage and the White Sox collections. It is my 92nd card of the 1977 Topps set putting that at just under 14% completed. As far as the White Sox team set, I still need another 8 cards to complete it.

I picked this Jim Abbott card for $.25/shipped as well. It goes to the White Sox collection also. It's always good to see Jim in the White Sox gear. I still need 5 cards to complete that team set, I don't know how many it started with but I know I probably only have a few. It's also my 89th card of Jim Abbott.

Trey card

I guess with all the cards that I posted yesterday, that it's fitting that I only have 1 today, and it's not even a baseball card.

I got this card of Trey Burke for a quarter/shipped. I don't get his cards often as this is only my 7th and sadly, most of them are in his pro jersey.

Lots of cards

I got 3 envelopes today, 2 had a single card in them. The last, however, had 15 cards. The big one was from the guy in Canada so he saved up about a month's worth of purchased and sent them all at once.

It's a big post, so let's get to it.

I picked up this 1988 Topps All-Star Glossy of Mike Schmidt for $.25/shipped. It is my 101st card of Schmidt. I remember these coming in the cello rack packs back then. I probably had most of them for a few years.

I also picked up this 1993 Fleer Ultra of Jim Abbott for $.25/shipped. He's in the worst uniform that I like to see him in (the first being a Michigan uni). I'm surprised this card didn't go for $3.00 just because it was a Yankee card.

These 4 cards all go to the White Sox collection. I picked up 4 of the 1991 O-Pee-Chee Premier (3 above, 1 below) and what I didn't realize was that put me only 1 card away from completing that team set (Tim Raines). I picked up the above 3 for $.10/shipped each and the Ryan Meaux for $.15/shipped.

I picked up these Panini Cooperstown's for $.18/shipped and $.20/shipped. They are both Panini Cooperstown but one is from 2012, the other 2013. These 2 cards put the Steve Carlton Collection at 81 cards.

I grabbed this 1986 Sportflics of Gary Carter for $.20/shipped. This card puts the Gary Carter collection at the century mark with 100 cards.

Here's the other 1991 O-Pee-Chee Premier card I mentioned above. This card goes to the Carlton Fisk Collection as well as the White Sox Collection. I got this card for $.23/shipped. It is my 147th card of Fisk.

I actually already had this card, when I bid on it, it looked familiar but my page said I didn't have it so I went ahead and threw the quarter on it. Then remember I got the whole rainbow of refractors of this card in one trade. Oops. I did end up only paying $.15/shipped so there is that.

I don't have to many post White Sox card of Buehrle, I have some with the Jays but his was my first with Miami so this was a nice grab. Especially for only $.23/shipped. This card is my 185th card of Mark Buehrle.

I also picked up this Jim Abbot for $.10/shipped. This Abbott, along with the one above, make 88 card for the Abbott Collection.

I got this other playing card (different set) only this time of Barry Larkin for $.10/shipped and the 1993 Leaf for $.11/shipped. These 2 cards put the Barry Larkin Collection at 114 cards.

I even managed to get an Aparicio this time around and for only $.20 but apparently I didn't check my lists because I already have it. So if you want it, let me know. JediJeff has first dibs if he wants it but if he doesn't, it's up for grabs.

I also managed a Konerko which is rare as well. This one came to me for $.16/shipped. Maybe it was cheap because it's an unlicensed card. Either way, this is my 409th card of Paulie.

More 2017's

You saw yesterday that I received my first 2017's and today, I got 4 more. I also got one additional card for the player collection. All in all, I got 2 envelopes. 1 with the player collection card, and 1 with the 4 2017's.

I picked up this Buehrle Allen & Ginter's for $.11/shipped. I thought I already had it but apparently I have the mini and the black mini before the base. This is my 184th card of Mark Buehrle.

I picked the Rodon for $.25/shipped and the Lawrie for $.23/shipped. These 2 cards and the 1 below bring the series 1 team set down to 4 cards. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to get any 2017's and then just like that, 6 down, 4 to go. I know that because after yesterday's post, I finally update my team checklist page. Apparently I hadn't touched it since early 2016.

This one goes to the White Sox collection as well but also the Chris Sale collection. I picked this up for a quarter/shipped. As long as it took for me to pick up the non-popular players, I figured it'd be long before I got this one. It's probably his last flagship card for the right Sox. This is my 115th card in the Sale collection.

This is my 1st non-White Sox 2017. This card came to me for only $.17/shipped. It is my 80th card of Zimmerman. The more I see the 2017's, the more they grown on me which is generally the case with most sets. I mean, I have to buy the damn things, I shouldn't hate them.

3 Old With 3 New

It was a big mailbox day yesterday and I didn't get around to posting it so you get a rare, not a random post, on a Sunday. I received 8 cards in 4 envelopes yesterday, although you won't technically see 2 of them here. Let start with some vintage collection pick ups.

This would be the lot where you only see 1 card of the 3, that's because it was a 3 card lot of all the same card. So if you need a 1979 Topps Sal Bando, let me know. I picked up the whole lot for $.16/shipped. This is my 312th card from 1979 which puts that set at 43% completed.

I picked up this 1972 Topps for $.23/shipped, which to me, is a great price for anything older than me, even if only a year older. This is my 33rd card from that set which puts it at a little over 4% completed.

Last but not least of the Vintage collection. This 1980 Topps of the Bird comes to me for $.23/shipped as well. To me, again, a great price for a popular player amongst collectors. This is my 130th card from 1980 and puts that set at almost 18% completed.

That's all for the "old" cards, next is the "new" cards.

These 3 cards I picked up in a lot and they are my first cards from 2017, I know I'm a little slow but it takes a few months before they drop below a quarter after getting released. I believe I have some more series 1 on it's way now. I really need to update my team sets page, I haven't updated in probably a year as far as adding sets to it. I grabbed this lot for only $.41 shipped which comes down to 2 cards at $.14 and 1 at $.13.

Maybe I'll go and add newer sets to my team set page now. Maybe.

Three in One

I got one envelope with 3 cards in it today. I bid on a bunch of his cards for sale but it only came down to these 3 cards that I won.

I picked up these 2 1980 Topps for the Vintage Collection and the top card goes to the White Sox Collection as well. They give me 129 cards of that set and the Junior Moore brings the White Sox team set to still needing 10 cards. I got the Moore for $.21.shipped and the Crowley for $.25/shipped.

Most of the cards I saw he had for sale were vintage but this was thrown in there as well. He used 9 cards per picture on his listings and this card was with 8 other 1980 Topps. I also picked this one for $.25/shipped. This puts my Mike Schmidt Collection at the century mark. It's been moving on up since the beginning of the year, of all my player collections, I've picked up more of him than any other in that time frame (yes, I've been keeping track.)

A basketball card?

Just a quick post today. I got 7 cards in one envelope today but your only going to get to see one. Why? Well, because I won a 7 card lot, all of the same card.

Yup, 7 cards of 2015-16 Panini Prizm Flash of Tim Hardaway Jr. How much did I pay for all 7 cards? $.17/shpped. That's not per card, that's for the whole lot. I assume Dennis needs one so I'm sending one your way (eventually) unless you tell me you already have it. If anybody else needs one, let me know and I'll PWE you one. This is my 10th card of Junior Hardaway.

Blog contest

Jon over at A Penny Sleeve For Your Thoughts in holding a contest, go check it out. I'd tell you about his blog but to be honest, I ran into it from Dennis posting about the contest. If you read this Jon, I have you on my reading list now as I expect to see all those cards in the cover photo to appear on your blog. They have to be yours, right? That will get you to at least 200 posts.

3 very different cards

I received 3 envelopes today with 3 very different cards. 2 Player Collections but 2 very different players and types of cards and a Vintage Collection pick-up. Let's see what we got.

We'll start with the Vintage collection pick-up. I grabbed this 1980 Topps for $.16/shipped. It is my 127th card from that set which puts it at 17.5% completed. I bid on a ton of vintage cards but I lose most of them and sadly, not by much, but I stick to my quarter bid otherwise I'll end up spending what I don't have.

I didn't think I'd win this either since it's an oddball and an oddball I never see on Ebay but I still managed to win it for only $.20/shipped. This is my 99th card of the Kid but at least the majority of them have been during his playing days. Topps hasn't overloaded us on his cards yet, they've put out a bunch just not like some other players.

I also picked up this former Wolverine relic card of Tim Hardaway Jr. This came across because the bidding started at a penny with free shipping. Since it was a relic card I went ahead and put $3 on it which ended up being my winning bid. I can't complain about spending $3 on a relic (even if it's probably even-worn) and it's numbered to /325. It is my 9th card of Tim Hardaway jr.

Random PC Cards

I've reached the 7,000 card mark on My Personal Collections Gallery Blog. What that means is I now have scanned/photographed over 7,000 cards of my PC's and got them up and posted. Needless to say, I've been working on that for awhile. I plan on adding some more tonight. It'll be nice once I'm caught up and only have to add what I add daily but until then, this will have to do.

I haven't done one of these in awhile so here goes.
