Trade with Blue Batting Helmet

Rob over at “Blue Batting Helmet” is a generous guy.  Just out of the blue I get some packages from him.  Just goes to show you that a White Sox fan and a Cubs fan can get along.  He sent along some Cubs cards for my son as well but I’m not showing them here.  Just the good cards.

trade-bbhelmet03

I got some 1980’s cards.  Love the 1982 Topps in the middle, that was close to the beginning of my collecting years.

trade-bbhelmet04

Some 1990’s cards.  I hadn’t seen the Magglio Ordonez card before, I liked him while he was here but didn’t like how he left.  But it’s still a cool card.

trade-bbhelmet05

He even sent me a 2012 I apparently didn’t have of Jake Peavy.

trade-bbhelmet01

Rob also hit my Paul Konerko Collection with this card from 2005 Donruss Team Heroes.  I have some of these but I don’t think I had any of these blue ones.  I definitely didn’t have a Paul Konerko one.

Thanks again Rob, be sure to check out “Blue Batting Helmet” for cards and more.

Ebay Pick-up #2

ebay02

Wow!  That hair.  It almost looks like some Disney character.  Picked this up for $.75/shipped.  Vintage for under $1 is just fine with me.  I prefer older than 1976 for vintage but hey, for $.75 I can’t complain.  I needed it for my 1976 team set.

Completed Team Sets–2001 Upper Deck Evolution

team-01upperdeckevolution

Another small team set and another Konerko less team set.  Dennis actually sent me the whole set and I removed the ones I needed to complete this one.  Another team set with all action shots.  Although you have the 2 sluggers slugging and the pitcher throwing so nothing outstanding photography wise here.

Trade with Cardboard Collections

I sent Colby some cards when I put the call out for people to take my cards.  This was his return package.  I’ve received a number of return packages even though I told people they weren’t required.  That just shows you how awesome this community of card bloggers really is.

trade-cardboardcollections04

These are just a few of the White Sox cards that he sent.  These were some of my favorites of the lot.  I thought I had the team card but apparently not.

trade-cardboardcollections05

You know the next best thing to vintage is the cards that look like they are vintage.

trade-cardboardcollections02

This one was new to the Luis Aparicio Collection.  I always love getting new cards for that collection since it’s my newest one.

trade-cardboardcollections01

Colby added 3 more Paulie’s to the Paul Konerko Collection.  Again, I figured I had the O-Pee-Chee at the bottom but apparently not.  Guess it’s a good thing I keep records and don’t go off just my memory.

trade-cardboardcollections03

He even knocked out 3 Peyton Manning’s off the Peyton Manning Collection.  I always like getting these in trades because I never buy any football cards so this collection relies on the kindness of others.  I really like the action shot in the bottom cards.

Thanks Colby, everyone be sure to check out “Cardboard Collections”.

Ebay pick-up #1

ebay01

We’re starting this edition of Ebay pick-ups with some high dollar merchandise.  Not 1, not 2, but 3 1991 Donruss cards for the White Sox collection for the low, low price of $.25/shipped.  Not what I search for when I do Ebay shopping, but I needed all 3 and for a quarter, to hard to pass that up.

Completed Team Sets–2001 Topps Stadium Club

I’ve decided I was going to have a feature of team sets that I complete.  So I went back and scanned everything I have so far, they will be featured here.

team-01stadiumclub

Only 6 cards to this set but I like the design and the photography.  All great action shots, the Ordonez shot is pretty awesome not sure what’s going down with the Thomas card, maybe he’s practicing ballet, along with Durham.  The set probably got completed since I didn’t have to get 2 Konerko’s.

It’s a small team set but it’s a completed team set.

Box Break from JABO’s

I got in another couple of box break over at “JABO’s”. One for 2004 Topps Pristine, 2004 SP Prospects, 2008 UD Spectrum, and 2012 Gypsy Queen.  And another for 2 boxes of 2012 Topps Finest.  Plus I purchased a few relics from Kyle so all that is thrown into this post.

trade-jabo02

I liked these cards, they are pretty shiny and cool looking.  And as I’m looking at the scan, I got 2 Jim Thome’s.  Oops.

trade-jabo03

More shiny from the box break.  The couple of cards at the top Kyle threw in for me for some Detroit Tiger cards that he needed from the break.

trade-jabo04

The Dewayne Wise on the left is from the box break, I didn’t even realize that Wise had a Glove Stories card but I do now because I have the mini.  The Frank Thomas rookie is another card Kyle threw in.  I would have guessed I had this but apparently I didn’t.

trade-jabo01

Once again, I didn’t do my homework before I signed up for the break.  2 boxes and this was all I got.  Although I got some trade cards for a couple of the other team as well as a couple that are going to another trader.  So I guess it wasn’t as bad as I initially thought.  I ended up with some duplicates of the other team but none of the Sox.  I could have used another Paul Konerko for each of the collections.

trade-jabo05

Magglio Ordonez relic, yes please.  Thanks Kyle.  I like those Upper Deck relics that show their rookie cards on half the card.  The other two Allen & Ginter relics I purchased from Kyle for $3/piece which is usually my max on relic cards when I get them on Ebay unless it’s something I really wanted.  I liked these 2 relics though because the Carlos Quentin piece has a green stripe so I assume that’s from their annual Half-Way to St. Patrick’s day game where they wear green jerseys.  And the Gordon Beckham piece is blue so I assume it’s from one of their throwback jerseys.

Thanks Kyle, be sure to check out “JABO’s” for all kinds of card related content.  He’s always got something going on.

Free Ebay #9

These rounds of Ebay bucks purchases are brought to by my boy Frank. He’s been buying stuff for his car on Ebay, but he’s not very proficient on computers. He writes down the Ebay Id# of what he wants, I purchase it and give it to him at work. Nothing majorly expensive, but it explains the Ebay bucks on an account where I probably only spend $20/month.

ebay08

Paul Konerko – 1998 Upper Deck UD3 rookie lot – Cost per Ebay bucks – $1.26/shipped

Last but not least, my favorite purchase with my Ebay bucks.  2 Silver, 1 Gold and 1 Bronze.  I didn’t have any for the Paul Konerko Collection so all but the dupe goes.  Which means if a Los Angeles Dodger fan out there wants a silver, let me know.

Dick Donovan – 1960 Topps – Cost per Ebay Bucks – $1.04 shipped.

1960 is one of the vintage team sets that I have a bunch of so I pick up any I don’t have in hope of completing at least 1 vintage set.

I plan on scanning and getting some other posts ready today, I have one more free ebay post then it’ll be new content.  I’ve gotten a lot of Ebay purchases as well as some cards in from “Too Many Verlanders”, “My 2008 Topps Set Blog” and “JABO’s”.  Plus I have other stuff already scanned that I need to post from “Blue Batting Helmet” and “Cardboard Collections”.  I’ve also gone through my Sox cards and have scanned team sets that I’ve finished.

Peyton Manning – 2003 Topps Record Breaker – Cost in Ebay bucks – $.35/shipped

Someone had listed a ton of Peyton Manning cards, I put $.50 on all the inserts, this was the only one I won.  I don’t normally purchase cards for the Peyton Manning Collection but I figured what the hell, I didn’t expect to win any and like I said, he had listed a ton, and this was the only one I got.

I really thought I had this one but apparently not.  Good thing I checked anyways.

Got more stuff in the mail today, going to have lots to post in the coming weeks.  I probably won’t get a chance to scan the stuff till Monday or Tuesday since I’m working all this weekend.

Tom Seaver – 1979 Hostess – Cost in Ebay bucks – $1.04/shipped.

I never mind paying a little bit more for a Hostess card, I remember those babies growing up.  I remember back then, they put cards all over the place.  Twinkies, Cereal, Twizzlers, Big League Chew, ect.

Be sure to check out my post over at Too Many Manninghams about our day in Ann Arbor.

Tom Seaver – 2004 Fleer Greats – Cost in Ebay bucks – $.25/shipped.

As you know, I am a huge White Sox fan, but I do love seeing Tom Seaver in his Cincinnati Reds jersey.  It’s what I remember from growing up.  Obviously, this is going to the Tom Seaver Collection.

I’ve been splurging on Ebay lately so when I get done with the free Ebay posts, I’ll have some new content coming.

Ray Durham – 1996 Upper Deck Collector’s Choice all-rookie – Cost in Ebay bucks – $.01/shipped

Nothing spectacular here, but I needed it for the White Sox Collection.  And it was only a penny.

ebay06

Carlton Fisk – 1989 Bowman – Cost in Ebay bucks – $.06/shipped

I actually ended up getting this in a trade after I put the bid in on it, but at that price, can I really complain.

ebay07

Freddy Garcia – 2005 Bowman Heritage mini – Cost in Ebay bucks – $.11/shipped

I didn’t have any ‘05 Heritage mini’s and it was only $.11.

I got all 3 of these from the same seller which is why I’m showing them all together.

Cheap Ebay–Vintage Style #14

I went on a little of a splurge on Ebay and picked up a bunch of vintage White Sox cards. I’d like to complete a few of the team sets before the end of the year.

ebay05

1962 Topps – Dom Zanni

Cost = $.99

The final card of the Cheap Ebay – Vintage Style.  It was a fun and exciting journey that I know all of you enjoyed.  Not really.  But I got excited about getting these cards.  I almost want to get rid of all my newer cards and go after strictly vintage.  Almost.
