New additions–White Sox Collection

Ebay purchase for $.50.  3 White Sox’s (Jay Loviglio, Reggie Patterson & Leo Sutherland) for the price of one, can’t beat that.  Even though I like the hats, I couldn’t stand these uniforms.  The collar’s alone made them hideous.

Another $.50 purchase on Ebay.  With this pick-up of Rich Morales, it brings me down to 5 more 1973’s for the team set.

And the prize of this edition of the White Sox Collection, a 1958 Sherm Lollar.  I got this for $.71 on Ebay.  Can’t beat a card from the 1950’s for under $1

Trade with 2 by 3 Heroes

I got some cards in the mail from Jeff who is a White Sox fan.  No, I didn’t send myself cards, but I bet I could send an awesome package to myself.  Jeff over at “2 by 3 Heroes” sent me a package of cards and he must have browsed my want lists because I need almost every one in the package.  If I remember correctly, there was only 1 card that I already had and that I had just received a day or two before so I can’t blame him on that one.  He sent all kinds of years of White Sox.  I needed all of the cards to the left.  Even the 1991 fleer as you’ll see that in one of my upcoming Completed Team Sets posts.  Jeff managed to complete 2 team sets for me.

All of these completed my 2012 Topps team set.  I don’t include update being they are numbered differently, therefore, their own sets.

He sent lots of 2012’s because he knew that I hadn’t bought any packs this year so I’m relying on the kindness of not so strangers for those needs.  And Jeff hooked me up there.

    

He even hit up a couple of my player collections with the above Paul Konerko and Tom Seaver.  I don’t trade much anymore because I only buy for my collections and don’t have much to send out.  But since Jeff is a fellow White Sox collector, I had a few duplicates laying around. 

Thanks Jeff and be sure to hit up “2 by 3 Heroes”.  His is better than my blog, he actually puts thoughts into his posts.  Mine has become almost a photo blog but at least all the photos are cards, right?

Vintage Collection–1976 Topps

Picked both these up for $.50 each.  Some more vintage from the seller I had to cut back on.  Don’t quite get the color combinations on this year’s cards.

I had a huge mail day today, box breaks, ebay stuff, free cards from awesome bloggers.  I’ll be spending most of today scanning and sorting.  Although I scanned some stuff last weekend that I never did get the posts written about either so we’ll see how far that goes.

Completed Team Sets–1996 Topps Bazooka

Nothing flashy here but it’s a decent team set.  I enjoy completing any team set but it’s more satisfying completing a flagship that has 15-20 cards then these smaller sets.  But it could be worse, I’ve completed 2 card team sets as well.

Not a very hard set to complete with only 2 cards.  I wonder if it wasn’t a team they cared about if they took their favorite offensive player and favorite pitcher and said good enough.

Vintage Collection–1978 Topps

I picked up the Lee May and the Rodric Harrison for $.50 each but I was absolutely shocked picking up the Rod Carew for $.47.  Rod freaking Carew for less than $.50.  That card, I considered a steal.  Maybe it’s just me but I never thought I would win that with my $.54 max bid.  That’s why I always put a bid on it even if I think I have no chance because you never know.

Completed Team Sets–2011 Topps Allen & Ginter’s

I am definitely not a fan of the Allen & Ginter’s sets because I hate all the non-baseball cards.  But that isn’t going to stop me from collecting the team set.

I do like the design for the set.  I think these are nice looking cards.  I got all these from trades as I have never bought a pack from any year of Allen & Ginter’s.

I picked up all these at $.50 each.  I was really surprised to win the Steve Garvey card at that price but really, there’s a few of these players who had decent MLB careers.

Completed Team Sets-2011 Topps

Here’s another flagship set (without the update)

This was probably my first flagship set I completed because 2011 was when I started this blog and therefore really started to collect again.

I completed this set the old school way.  Got the cards in packs and trading.  So I have a lot of you guys and gals to thank for it.

It’s not a horrible design, I always like the logo to be on the front along with the players name and they used action photo’s over head shots.  That’s probably the biggest plus but the newer cards generally use action shots over the head shots anymore.

I even have the Update set for the whole complete 2011 Topps set.  Like I said above, it was first year back and I bought a lot of cards.

Vintage Collection–1980 Topps

Finally some true vintage, I picked all these up as singles for $.50 each.  These were from the seller who lists a bunch of vintage at $.50 that I had to stop buying because I was buying too many.  Can you really consider yourself a Future Star if your playing for the Chicago Cubs?  Just curious.

Completed Team Set–2011 Bowman Platinum

Another nice small team set, but I don’t understand their choice of players.  How can you have a 4 card team set and not have Paul Konerko.

I do like the looks of these cards though, I think they scan well too.

Vintage Collection–1983 Fleer

I picked up these 3 1983 Fleer in a lot for $.50 or just under $.17 each.  I find it odd that someone would even list these cards or even these 3 cards together.  This was another set that I think I probably completed back then so I enjoy seeing them again.

Ebay - White Sox Collection

This weeks new additions to the White Sox collection.

1980’s Kellogg’s cereal 3D cards (Chet Lemon and Claudell Washington)

Picked both of these up for $.99 each.  I saw this seller with these and the following cards and I couldn’t resist.

1983 Kellogg’s 3D cards (Greg Luzinski, Harold Baines & Britt Burns)

I got all the above cards for $.99 each all from the same seller that I got the last Tom Seaver collection cards.

2004 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Sweet Threads game-used jersey

Picked this up for ($2.24/shipped).  Not a huge fan of Mags but I did like him when he was here.  Plus it’s a relic card.

  

1968 Topps Chicago White Sox team card and Wilbur Wood.

Picked up the team card for $.96 and the Wood for $.50.  Great prices, I think.  If I really like the vintage card I’ll usually up my max bid to $1.

2012 Topps ‘87 mini ($.35)

I actually thought I needed this for the Paul Konerko collection, but I already had one.  I still needed one for the White Sox collection though so it still worked out.

Completed Team Sets–2010 Topps

My first flagship completed set.  This is only series 1 & 2, I don’t include Update as part of the set.  If they intended it to be part of the set, they would pick up where the numbering left off instead of using the U numbering system.  At least that’s the way I think about it.

I’ve heard complaints of this design, it’s not my favorite but I don’t think it’s horrible either.  I like the logo on the front.  Almost all action shots.

Love the team card.  I threw in the Beckham because it’s a completed insert set.  It was the only White Sox in the When They Were Young set, therefore it’s completed.

I picked up these 3 1985 Topps as singles for a total of $.42 or $.14 each.  Always like seeing the Montreal Expos cards.  I also like this set because I remember buying packs and packs of these back in the day.

1992 Kellog’s Corn Flakes 3D Sportflicts ($.99)

You gotta love these cereal cards.  I bought a bunch for the White Sox collection as well that you’ll see soon.

  

All 3 of these are from the 1981 Topps Scratch-offs.  All 3 are different and all 3 cost me $.99 each.  They aren’t cards, but they aren’t things you see everyday.  I don’t like that they are oversized because I can’t display my oversized stuff yet.

Price per card went up $.02.  I got the Steve Carlton card for a buck which to me is a good cost for that card.  It just doesn’t help the price per card.

Completed Team Sets–2009 Upper Deck A Piece of History

Another team set of only a few cards.  How Konerko doesn’t make any team sets at this point (2009) is beyond me.  I do like seeing Ken Griffey Jr. in a White Sox uniform.  These cards aren’t to horribly bad with history being in the title and making it look like vintage frames.
