I get a little Hall of Fame heavy this week but there are a few classic MLB, NFL and NBA mixed in there as well.

New project

I’m working on a project so I may disappear from here for a bit.  I’ll still do my “This Week on MSO” post on Sunday, but it may be into next week before I post again.

What’s the project?  I’m combining all my sports blogs and pinterest boards on to 1 blog, only it will all be photos.  The only words on each post will be the link to the original post on the original blog.  So it will be filled with all the scans of cards from this blog, and all my vintage and current sports pictures from my tumblr blog, all my scans and pictures that I posted on Dennis’ Michigan blog and from a few of my Pinterest boards, all on 1 blog.  Every player (that I know) and every team will be tagged so you can search by player or team in the search box or browse through the thousands of tags at the bottom of it (like this blog is).

It’s quite a project because it only let’s me post 49 posts in a day and I have crap load to post.  I’ve been working on it for about a week, starting with my oldest posts (3/29/2011) and so far, I’ve made it to 2/12/2012) and I haven’t even started adding my Pinterest boards yet because I didn’t start that until some time in 2013.

Once I get a little further on that blog, I’ll post the links so you can check it out.  It may never even be used but I felt a need to do it.  I think it will be an awesome source for us sports bloggers and being as I don’t own any of the pictures (other than the scans of my cards) you all can feel free to use them as well.  (I do post the source if I know it.)

Here are the blogs and boards that will be added to that blog.

Here’s an example of a post from the new blog, these were copied from My Sports Obsession Tumblr that were posted on 2/9/12,

Pics aren’t blurry on the actual post but I had to enlarge it so you could see the whole page.

Cheaper Than Stamps #33

This is a series where I show off cards I need for my PC’s that I pick up on Ebay or COMC for cheaper than a stamp.  My maximum I spend on these cards is actually $.30 so I get them quite a bit cheaper than a stamp.

1976topps

1976 Topps – Steve Swisher #173

Picked up this card of Nick’s dad (I think) for $.29.  1976 is the set from the 1970’s that I have the most cards (other than 1973 Topps, which I’ve been collecting a lot longer).

1963topps

1963 Topps – Jerry Zimmerman #186, Bubba Phillips #117

I picked up the Zimmerman for $.30 and the Phillips for $.25.  Now I might be a little more picky if the Phillips was from the 80’s with that cut, but not from the 60’s and certainly not for a quarter.

1961topps

1961 Topps – Earl Torgeson #152, Johnny Kucks #94

This was another scanner blunder on my part.  The Torgeson actually goes to my White Sox collection as I don’t have it there yet.  Either way, I still picked it up for $.25 and the Kucks for $.30

1960topps

1960 Topps – Danny McDevitt #333

I even managed to pick up another 1960 card on the cheap.  Got this card for $.30.  It’s another one that’s miscut a bit but I don’t mind.

That’s all for the vintage collection so we will be heading back to the player collection soon.

Cheaper Than Stamps #32

This is a series where I show off cards I need for my PC’s that I pick up on Ebay or COMC for cheaper than a stamp.  My maximum I spend on these cards is actually $.30 so I get them quite a bit cheaper than a stamp.

1984donruss

1984 Donruss – Bob Gibson #246

Picked this up for $.10 so another virtual dime box pick up.  Not the Bob Gibson that you like to see but I still need the card.

1984fleer01

1984 Fleer – Kurt Bevacqua #294, Bob Watson #193

Got both of these for $.15 each.  I can’t see Bevacqua without thinking about his card where he’s blowing a bubble.  I believe it is in the 1973 Topps set.

1984fleer02

1984 Fleer – Jerry Dybzinski #57, Jorge Bell #148

This was another scanning mistake.  The Jerry Dybzinski goes into the White Sox collection but I didn’t realize it until I got to my 2nd step after scanning.  I picked up both of these cards for $.15 each as well.  All 4 of the 1984 Fleer came from the same seller.

1983topps

1983 Topps – Robin Yount (all-star) #389

I got this bad boy for $.25.  I don’t mind paying a quarter for 1983 and older so it worked out.  Oh yeah, it’s Robin Yount too.

1982donruss

1982 Donruss – Ron Guidry (diamond king) #17, Bob Brenly #574

I thought I switched the prices on these cards but apparently not.  I picked up the Guidry diamond king for $.10 and the Brenly for $.25.

That’s it for the 1980’s, next up will be the 1970’s which I only picked up 1 card for so I’ll combine it with the 1960’s which I managed to pick up 5 cards for.
