- Frank Thomas – 1992 Score All-Star Starter ($.22/shipped)
I had never seen these before, but I figured at $.22, why not? The nice thing about never seeing it before is I don’t have to scour my have lists to find out if I do.

The card you’ve all been waiting for. Do you remember me talking about the guy selling this? If not, check it out here.
He sent the card after sending me 3 messages that all said the same thing about buying something else so he could justify the cost of a stamp. I never contacted him, just ignored the e-mails. I would have purchased something else had there been something else that fit into my collection, but there wasn’t. He started the bid at a quarter, then complains that it only sells for a quarter. It’s the same price to start an auction all the way up to $.99, so it wasn’t to save money. Your mistake is my gain.
On the lighter side, never thought I’d have a whole post about a 1989 Fleer.
Freddy was a big part of our 2005 World Championship. “Big Game” Freddy was great in ‘05 and wasn’t the same after. Hawk liked to call him “Sweaty” Freddy because boy, could he sweat like nobody’s business.
I was surprised to get this under $2. Plain white sucks but it’s got a stripe to liven it up.
I do these weekly on my other blog “Random Thoughts From a Random Guy”, figured I'd post them here to. Why not, it’s my blog. Feel free to check them all out.
Weekly Catch-Up
I blog mainly about new movies to me. Also review other products here and there but it’s mostly movies.
Only watched 1 movie this week to review but it was a good one. Watched the end of Meet Joe Black and all of Legends of the Fall on AMC today but I only review movies I haven’t seen. I take that back, I watched a movie yesterday that I need to review. But it wasn’t anything spectacular, contrary to what everyone is saying.

Here I blog all about My Sports Obsession, mostly baseball cards and the White Sox.
This blog is on autopilot as of late. I haven’t purchased much new so I’m mainly posting some stuff I picked up awhile ago.
Stats
Random sports photos. There are only some stats for this blog as it is a Tumblr account, not a blogger account.

This is just a blog of my random thoughts. This will be a collection of everything from my thoughts, to funny things I find on the net (including tweets and FB status) to whatever else I decide to post. From being a parent, to being a husband, to everyday life with a MS patient.
Stats
I only guest post on this blog about my Michigan cards. I haven’t been buying cards lately so I haven’t posted here recently. Although Dennis still posts on here so there are posts to read, just none by me.
Stats
That’s it for the week. As you can tell, I don’t Facebook a lot as far as posting stuff. I posted maybe 2 or 3 other things, vids or pics, but that’s it. While I’m on it multiple times a day, I don’t post much myself.
Just finished watching my 2nd Perfect Game and 3rd no-hitter live (on TV). All 3 games by the White Sox. Congrats to Philip Humber.
But after that dominating performance in a hitters park (Safeco in Seattle), you need a shower.
There, isn’t that better. Thanks Alexei for helping us out.
How come you didn’t see the whole game?
Oh yeah! Red Sox vs. Yankees is always more important than the rest of Major League Baseball. Thank God I live in a blue area. Or should I thank Bud Selig so he doesn’t take it away.
I needed this for my Aparicio Collection. I still need another one for my sox collection.
I’m collecting the 1981 set, slowly but surely. This post is the latest in my quest for the completion.
I’ve really been slacking on my purchasing and my posting of my set collections. Hopefully I’ll have a few of them for you this week.
I’m collecting the 1973 set, slowly but surely. This post is the latest in my quest for the completion.
I finally got some of these posted. And hopefully will continue to do so with more later this week.
I bought a bunch of 1973 Topps for my set collection from Ted over at “Crinkly Wrappers”, He just finished his ‘73 set so he checked out my want list told me how many and set a great price for me. It was a huge boost to my ‘73 set. Big thanks for that Ted.
I fill my player collections first, then team collection, then my sets. So all of the above White Sox, even though are ‘73’s are going to my team collection. So I still need the above for my set.
Ted is an awesome guy because he threw in the following cards as well.
I thought I had most of the 2010 Upper Deck’s but apparently not. I needed all of the above for my team collection. I always love team cards and the oddball Post Frank Thomas. Great cards.
He also sent me a small stack of Colts cards which included these 4 Peyton Manning cards for the Manning player collection. Great to still see him in a Colts jersey.
Thanks again Ted, you’ve been a huge help to my ‘73 set. Be sure to check out “Crinkly Wrappers” and hit Ted up for a trade, he’s great at them.

I already had this for my Tom Seaver collection, but I needed one for my White Sox collection. For $.36, what the hell, might as well grab it.

This doesn’t have anything to do with sports or sports cards. But please take the time to read. I’ll be back to regular posting soon. This is a copy of the blog post from my “Random Thoughts from a Random Guy” blog.
I haven’t talked much about the wife and her medical issues. But I feel that I need to. For those that don’t know, she was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) a little under a year ago. While it was nice to finally have a diagnosis for all her issues, it hasn’t been fun learning about MS. The fact that lesions are covering my wife’s brain scares me. The facts that what this disease could do to her, scares me. The fact that we are going to have to start daily injections of meds scares me. The fact that in the future, she might have to rely on me, scares me. In other words, there are a lot of things about this disease that scare me.
But what doesn’t scare me, is the fact that my wife will keep fighting. Even though she is in extreme pain, she takes care of things around here. She gets my kids up and to school every morning and picks them up every day. Even though it may put her down for the rest of the day. She keeps fighting every day when she takes showers and it absolutely drains her body of all energy. Just a shower does that to her. She cooks for us almost every day. But in order to do all this, it takes a toll on her. She has to lie on the floor multiple times a day just to stretch her back. She needs a back rub almost every night. When she stands in the kitchen too long, she’ll all of the sudden need to sit down because of a sharp pain in her neck. She has to use a wheelchair when we go to functions because she can’t handle sitting in the chairs provided. Or she has to use a wheelchair if we need to go shopping because she can’t be on her feet too long. And I haven’t even touched on the mental issues like memory loss, or the brain fog she suffers through, or the migraine’s. Yes, she does a lot for us. And yes, she suffers a lot for us.
I have to pause typing this so she can lay on the floor. Why does she need me, I have to curl my fingers so she can put my finger tips at a certain spot on her skull which helps relieve the pressure in her spine.
I also had to massage the base of her skull because it hurts. She always hurts. We need a cure for this beast. And that’s where you all come in. There’s a group of us “Team Laws” that are walking in the annual MS Walk here in town. Cheri will walk. It may cost her the rest of the day but she is bound and determined to make it. What I need from you, donations. I don’t care if you donate $1 or $500, we need it all. So if you could find it in your hearts to donate to our team to help find a cure for MS, we would be eternally grateful. All the donations are taken directly from the National MS Society website so you can be sure who gets your money. It’s the only time of the year that I ask all of you for help. Please help find a cure for this horrible disease. Click Below.
We can also turn in donations if you would prefer to just give us a cash or check. Checks can be made out to the National MS Society. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this and thank you for your continued support.
If you can’t spare a few bucks, pass this post on. Via Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Wherever. The more that see it, the better the chances are that we can fund the search for a cure. There are a few buttons below this post to share, please use them.
Yeah. I overpayed a bit, but I didn’t have many ‘66’s. I got it along with this lot as well.
Even at $1.23.shipped, I overpayed for these as well (in accordance with my budget rules) but after winning all the previous vintage, I got a little carried away. Oh well, I love the cards so I’ll let it pass.
By the time this posts, I’ll be sitting down to lunch at my moms. Hope everyone has a great Easter. A day with the family always makes it a great day for us.
These were 2 different auctions at $.99/shipped. I didn’t think I’d win either one of these but I went ahead and put the $.99 bid on both of them. Winning both of them wasn’t a big deal because I actually needed 2. 1 for the Paul Konerko collection and 1 for the White Sox collection. I will bid a little higher for certain inserts or parallels. And apparently I thought these counted.
A reader named Tim contacted me about a trade. It was awhile ago so I don’t remember what I sent him but I received his package awhile ago as well. Not sure why I didn’t get around to posting this earlier. Sorry about that Tim. But I am doing it now.
All 4 of these go to my Konerko collection. You know I love the Goudey.
A Peyton Manning for the player collection. With the Colts. *sniff *sniff
And a 2008 Topps Mike Hart rookie card. Also for the player collection.
Thanks Tim for all the cards. All positives for the player collections. He also sent some for the team collection that I didn’t scan.
I went a little over my budget of $.50/card on this one. But after saving a little bit on the other lots, I went ahead and went over. Because I only needed 3 of the 5, it ended up costing me $.57/card. But I couldn’t resist. In case you didn’t notice, I paid the same for each lot because they were $1.08 Buy it Nows. The seller had others, but the number of cards actually needed combined with shipping took me over my budget too much.
Opening Day is coming around the corner. The real opening day that is, not the one that took place in Japan. I’ve seen a lot in print about how bad the White Sox are going to be this year. I heard today that Sports Illustrated predicted us with 99 losses and a last place finish in the central.
I disagree. As someone who watches a lot of games and reads a lot of print from Chicago, and reads a lot of insiders blogs on the White Sox, I feel like I know more than SI or ESPN because they are focusing on everybody (except ESPN, they only focus on the Red Sox and Yankees) where as I only focus on my team. That makes me smarter in my book, and my blog, so those “experts” can bite me.
I agree it’s certainly the Tigers division to lose. But last time it was the Tigers division to lose, they bombed. Sort of like in ‘06 when we were supposed to mow down the central, and we sucked. And let’s face it, after the Tigers, nobody is all that great. I hear how much better Cleveland and Kansas City are and I’m sure they are better, but I don’t see them any better than the Sox. I never count out the Twins because they always seem to be in the thick of it. I’m sure they might have been there last year if it wasn’t for injuries to the M&M boys.
Do I think the Sox are going to be lights out and play awesome? No. But I don’t see where anybody is heads above us either. And while I do think the Tigers will take the division, I don’t see it by double digit wins like everybody else.
If you compare our lineup with anybody else’s, I don’t see major differences. I think the Tigers have the best team, on paper. And I think that the Sox, Royals, Twins and Indians are pretty comparable. I see the White Sox and Twins fighting it out for 2nd and the Indians and Royals trying to stay out of last. The Indians and Royals haven’t shown me anything but young talent, but haven’t been able to put it together yet.
I’m expecting a huge year from Dunn. He’s been to good for too long and I think last year was a fluke. My only questions offensively are Rios (always seems like he doesn’t care), Viciedo and Morel because they are young. I also think that Beckham will be back to his old self, I hope anyways. Konerko and AJ will be who they always are, and that’s a good thing.
My questions in the pitching staff are all in the bullpen. I think we have some great starters in Danks, Peavy, Floyd, Humber and Sale. If Humber and Sale can duplicate their success from last year, the starters will be fine. The bullpen consists of some rookies which is where the question marks lie. But the anchors are Crain and Thornton, who either one could be closing come opening day. Addison Reed has looked really well and has been mentioned as a closer as well.
Obviously, my opinions, and I’m White Sox biased. But I’m not expecting the Tigers to run away with it. And I am certainly expecting more than 63 wins from my Sox. Has SI ever gotten much right when it comes to predicting anyways.
I needed all 5 of the cards in this lot. It comes down to $.34/card. I loved picking up all these vintage cards cheap.
