I got one card in the mail today and an autograph at that.
This is my 3rd autograph of Delmonico who is no longer with the Sox. They released him after he got injured but from what I read, they may pick him back up so who knows. This is my 9th card of his and I picked it up for $2.41/shipped. It is also my 241st card that I've picked up for the White Sox Collection this year.
Welcome
This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

the Long and Short of it
Got 1 card in the mail today and it's only the 2nd card in that players collection.
As I said above, this is only my 2nd card of David Long who just came out of Michigan last year. I have to be careful bidding on his cards that aren't in Michigan uniform because another David Long came out the same year. So these Sage where it has no team listed, I really have to be careful. I usually look at the position to tell. I picked this up for $.25/shipped.

Random Players From My Collections #3
Another Sunday, another random player post. It's shocking that I've actually put out 3 of these in a row. Still have 3,311 players listed on my TCDB.
#598 - Pat Sheridan (7 cards)
I really thought I'd see more White Sox players on these random posts. I picked the 1984 Topps to show because all the others were headshots. Typical 80's cards I guess.
The TCDB has him listed with 70 cards. Looks like I only need 4 more for the Vintage collection. It also lists him as from being Ann Arbor (Woohoo!) but he went to Eastern Michigan (Booo!)
#1674 - Stan Javier (2 cards)
Apparently the majority of my collections are 80's cards, although I shouldn't be shocked my that. I only have 2 but I only need 2 more for the Vintage collection. He was a rookie in 1986 and 1987 is the last year of the Vintage Collection.
He has 291 cards listed on TCDB but like I said, I only actually need a couple of more for my collections. It looks like his last card was in 2017 so I'm guessing he had some reprints or something because I doubt he's still playing.
#1936 - Steve Huntz (2 cards)
I couldn't decide which of the 2 cards to show, I debated for hours. Not really, since they both look the same from the front.
He only has 21 cards listed on the TCDB but again, they go all the way up to 2018 and 2019 but they are buybacks. I only need 3 other for the Vintage Collection. The 1972 is the only card that I needed for the White Sox collection.

2 more for the week
I got 2 more envelopes today after getting nothing yesterday. I don't know what it is about Wednesdays but it seems more times than not, all I get in the mail on hump day are the advertisement fliers. Who cares about that though, let's get to today's cards, both Hall of Famers.
The first no doubter, HOF'r is a player collection. I picked up this 2018 insert card for $.32/shipped. It is my 453rd card of Ripken which is my highest amount in a player collection.
The 2nd, not-so-no doubter, HOF'r is the White Sox collection. This Baines card is not the 1981 Topps though, it is the 2016 Burger's Best reprint. I know you all are shocked that Topps has any reprints, but it is what it is. I picked this up for $.48/shipped which just goes to show you that he's worth more than Ripken and therefore, worthy of the HOF. This is my 72nd card of Baines.

Surprise package
I got a package in the mail, and when I say package, I mean a box a little bit bigger than the flat rate boxes that most of us have used. I had no idea what it was, I don't remember ordering anything. So I opened it and it was filled with bubble wrap. So I pulled all of that and unrolled it and inside that was a team bag. I opened that and there was a penny sleave and inside of all that was this,
I guess I did purchase that, for $.32/shipped and the dude had to spend at least $6 or $7 to ship it and it's not really even a card, it's metal so there is a lot less chance of something happening to it. I'm not complaining, just found it odd. This is my 39th "card' of Moncada who is currently on a rehab assignment. This is a 2017 coin, made to be like the ones they had back in the day.

Shhh!
Shhh! I'm not saying anything about starting the week off right because look what happened last week. I will say that I got 1 card in the mail today. It's a White Sox collection and it's a older style jersey, not one of my favorites, but it's always nice to see the old jerseys occasionally.
I guess I should have said a unique jersey instead of an older style. I picked up this Rodon for $.28/shipped from Topps Bunt. I always have to be careful bidding on Bunt cards because I've been real close to bidding on digital cards. This is my 29th card of our opening day starter who's currently out with Tommy John surgery.

Random Player From My Collections #2
I started this last week and since I didn't have many posts this week, I'll throw up another. Last week I only used baseball players, I didn't realize it at the time, so this week it will be all the players, in all the sports that I collect. Total players equals 3,311, let's kick off this random post.
Another player from my Vintage Collections. Nothing really exciting about the 4 cards I have of his, they were all mid 80's. I chose the 1986 Topps because the other 3 were all headshots and this was at least an action shot. I picked up this card from my cousin back in September of 2016.
The TCDB has 55 cards listed, I only have 4 and I know I need at least 14 others for the Vintage Collection although some of those are in sets that I have a bunch of cards for so I wonder if I don't actually have more and I just missed them when I was recording them.
I picked Putnam's rookie card to showcase for him out of the 8 I have. I always liked these prospects card in the older sets. Although now that I look at his other cards, he has one in 1978 with other prospects as well.
According to the TCDB, he has 52 cards listed. I only need 7 more to go into the vintage collection. I picked up the 1979 Topps card for a quarter back in July of 2017.
I didn't even know who this was. I recognized the last name of course because apparently he is the brother of Rick Reuschel. I only have the above card and it came to me in March of 2014 in a trade with 2x3 Heroes.
He only has 12 cards listed on the TCDB and I only need 2 others for my Vintage collection.
Nothing really exciting on that post, all Vintage collection cards, not even a White Sox. It's still fun to put up though and it ended up all being baseball anyways.
#1192 - Dane Iorg (4 cards)

My 2 favorite teams
I may have started the week off right in the last post, but I got nothing until today. At least I finally got something. 2 envelopes, both with one team in each one.
I grabbed both of these from the same seller. I paid $.25/shipped for the Rutherford and $.39 for the Cease. It is my 4th card of Rutherford despite him still being in the minors and my 5th of Cease who is currently with the big club so I'm sure I'll definitely see more cards of him.
Since I started with White Sox cards, I'll post these that I picked up at Walmart as well. I bought a blaster of Topps Stickers for $10. I like that they are card sized since I won't be sticking them anywhere. The backs also feature another player so twice the chance of getting stuff for my collections. That was the thought anyways, I only ended up with 2 Sox and they were both on the front.
A past pitching stud and a future pitching stud, although neither are with the club at the moment. Kopech had Tommy John surgery and is scheduled to be back next year and you should all know that Sale is with the wrong Sox now. Actually, I found it surprising that Sale was featured in a White Sox uniform, I even had to send in a correction on TCDB because it was listed as a Boston card. It is my 10th card of Kopech and my 148th card of Sale. If you divide the blaster with the $10 I paid, it equals to $.25 a card/sticker.
I picked up this former Wolverine for $.28/shipped. It is my 8th card of Chesson, this is the gold version of Leaf Draft. I'm slowly getting up to double digits on Jehu's cards.

Starting the week off right
I got 5 cards in 2 envelopes in the mail today. A nice start to the week.
I picked up another Ripken, my 452nd, which is my highest player collection. I paid $.47/shipped for this 2000 Upper Deck Legends card.
Another tier 2 collection card. This 2010 Topps insert came to me for $.43/shipped and is my 85th card of Johnny Bench.
I also grabbed 2 more Wagner cards, putting his collection at 9 cards. I paid $.26/shipped for the Prizm Freshman Phenoms and $.34/shipped for the Select. All 4 of the above cards came from the same seller.
Last but not least, I picked up this game-used bat from Upper Deck SP (2001) for $1.34/shipped which is a great deal. It is my 135th card of Mags and my 9th relic card of his. This card goes to the White Sox collection. Ordonez is my 3rd highest non player collection behind Frank Thomas and Chris Sale.

Random Players From My Collection
I had an idea about some random posts, since I have most (not all) of my cards of the Trading Card Database and they have a couple of random features I looked it up to see if the site would random players in my collections. It doesn't. However, it does tell me how many players I have so I can use another site to random the number that corresponds with the player. I have 1945 players and the random came up with 1787. I went to look for that, went back a couple of pages, and than realized that when multiple players have the same amount of cards, it has the same rank. Which explains why when I went back a couple of pages, the players still ranked at 1945. Damn! I thought that number seemed low.
Each page has 100 names on it though so I adjust, the pages x 100 players and add the 31 players on the last page and voila, I have 3131 players, now random that and I come up with 2971. So the 71st player on the 29th page. See, I can still do it. So here we go.

#2971 - Vic Mata (1 card)
No wonder I didn't recognize the name. I figured it must have been a Vintage Collection card.
According to the TCDB, he only had 15 cards. According to my records, I bought this card from Baseball Card Exchange (card shop) for $.02 in August of 2018. It was $.02 because I bought a whole box of 80's cards, I don't remember the total price but after taking out dupes and figuring which ones I needed, it equaled out to $.02 each.
Since I only had 1 card, I'll make a new rule. I have to show at least 3 cards per random player post.
#3123 - Brian Snyder (1 card)
Apparently random likes the high numbers which means 1 card players.
This is another name I didn't recognize. Again, if I don't recognize the name I just assume it's a vintage collection and again, I was right. This card was sent to me in a trade by 2x3 Heroes back in March of 2016.
Guess we'll go with another players since I'm only at 2 cards. I'm guessing the next player will have a ton of cards.
#448 - Andre Rienzo (9 cards)
Well it wasn't a ton, but it was more than 1 card. I know this player as they are a former White Sox player which is why I have more than 1.
It was pretty easy to pick a card to show since this was my only relic and auto. I purchased this 2014 Bowman Platinum card off of Ebay for $2.50/shipped back in June of 2017. TCDB shows a total of 289 cards so I have a long way to go but I'm sure not all of them are White Sox cards. I take that back, other than his last 4 cards, they are all White Sox or White Sox minor league affiliates.
That was fun, I'll have to do these post more often. Don't worry, I won't go through everything at the top on every post.

3 Out Of 6 Ain't Bad
After a slow week, I get to end the week with 2 days straight worth of cards. I guess technically I got cards 3 of 6 days so I can't complain.
I picked up my 19th card of Hardaway jr. I just realized now that he's in his Atlanta jersey but they are playing the Knicks. I didn't notice that when I looked at the card. I saw the Knicks logo on the card and the New York jersey in the background. I picked this one up for $.27/shipped.
I also got to add another Zimmy to that collection, this is my 102nd card of Ryan Zimmerman. Always happy to add a relic to any of the collections at $1.75/shipped. It is also my 9th relic of the MS advocate.

4 Auto Friday
Once again, all my mail for the week came in one day. I've only had one day all week where I got cards in the mail and than today, I get hit with 6 envelopes today, with 9 cards but only 7 that are staying in my collections.
This is where one of those "extra" cards comes into play. I picked up this 1994 Triple Play for $.54/shipped. I checked the listing again and it was for 1 card even though he sent me a dupe of it. It is my 47th card of the Rock.

I picked up this duo collection card, it goes to the player and the vintage collection. I'm pretty familiar with the 1981 Donruss set and I don't remember ever seeing this card when I was a kid, I'm not sure I've seen it up until a year or so ago. I picked it up for only $.30/shipped and it's my 108th card of the lefty.
I picked up this Yastrzemski card and I was thinking it was my first series 2 card but than I remembered I picked up some Sox cards a few weeks ago. It is however, a player collection that I only added 1 card to last year but this is the 5th card this year. It is also my 59th card of Yaz.
Now to the autograph portion. I picked up this auto of Gavin Floyd for $1.59/shipped. It's a pretty nice card as most of the Masterpieces are. It is my 33rd card of Gavin and my 1st auto of his for the White Sox collection.
I picked this card up in a 2 card lot with a Nebraska player autograph which doesn't go to my collection and this Will Johnson auto is technically a dupe but I'll keep in anyways since it's an auto (unless Dennis needs it). I grabbed the lot of 2 cards for $2.69/shipped.
I also picked up this Adrian Arrington auto for $2.69/shipped. I thought I had a version of this one but I didn't. This is my 13th card and my 8th autograph of Arrington.
I also started a new player collection with this Zak Irvin autograph. I'm sure this collection won't take off as he probably doesn't have to many cards. I checked, he only has 13 cards and they are all from this set. I picked this one up for $1.35/shipped.

Could it be?
I got one card in the mail today but it's a Tier 1 player so that's always a bonus.
I picked up this 1970, err, 2011 Topps 60 Years of Topps card. It would have been awesome if it was the 1970 version with the Miracle Mets. I grabbed it for $.41/shipped. It is my 356th card of Tom Terrific.

Man Cave, Sorta
I didn't get any cards today, it is a Sunday after all, but yesterday I did some rearranging in my downstairs level. My grandfather died a few years ago and I grabbed his desk and put it in storage. My wife was in the storage and it was annoying her so I took it out and set it up in the den. I pulled a dresser out as well and kind of made a "man cave" even though it really isn't. It's still a usable room with a couch and TV but nobody really uses it. I also can't leave my cards out all over because I have a stupid cat that likes to chew on cardboard, so I can't even leave the boxes of cards out because she'll chew on the boxes. When it's all said and done, I can only do so much because the room was painted red when we moved in and we never changed it. I'll probably rarely use it but at least I got to move my cards out of storage to where I can access them easier. My books were in the bedroom on a shelf and it gave my wife some of her shelf room back.
Here's is the aforementioned desk. As you can see, it's pretty nice, and huge. You can also see the red walls. The wife and I picked up a few things that could go on the walls and still match, plus I snuck a few things in as well. We'll go left to right on the desk.
This is my stack of magazines, programs, folders, ect. They are acting as my book ends until I can find a decent set that go with the room. The card books shown are (L to R) Tier 3 collections are in the first 2 books, and the last book has my Michigan collection as well as auto's and relics that are team collections and not player collections.
Next to the books, on the desk shelf are 2 bats that came from the Louisville Slugger museum that my mom picked up for me. The helmet was from the greek fries that I got at the last Sox game I went to, earlier this year. There's also my DVD's from the 2005 Sox.
The stuff on the top middle of the desk isn't really anything yet. The lamp was just thrown there to get it out of the way.
If you know my collections, than you are really confused by these 3 items. They were also my grandfathers and my grandmother gave them to me. On the left is a mug commemorating Mark McGwire's race to 70 HR's back in 1998. The middle is a Coke bottle with the St. Louis Cardinals on it and on the right is a Joe Montana beer stein. In case you haven't figured it out, he was a Cardinals fan, and a Notre Dame fan. As much as it pains me to have a ND alumn on my desk, I figured it was ok since he is one of the all-time greats, and he's in a pro jersey.
Beside that shelf and to the far right of my desk are my other card books. (L to R) Paul Konerko Collection, Tom Seaver Collection, the rest of my Tier 1 Collections, and the last 2 books are my Tier 2 Collections. As I said before, I don't have book ends so I'm using my Scott Podsednik bobble head for one on this side.
A little better view of the bobble head, or at least the box. When I get an actual room, I may break it out of the box.
Next, I'll go from left to right up on the wall above the desk
This photo is of myself, my brother and 2 cousins back when we were in little league. My grandmother made these for all 4 of us boys. I'm on the left and Sluggo is the other in yellow for the regulars who may know him by name.

These are above the right side of the desk. We picked these up at Hobby Lobby along with some stuff below.
As you can see, next to the desk is the dresser I pulled out. In the top drawer are my non-collection cards and Baseball Collection, 2nd drawer is full of empty boxes and such, 3rd drawer contains the Vintage Collection and the bottom drawer has my White Sox Collection in it.
Above the desk and dresser are these other 2 from Hobby Lobby. My wife did a pretty good job of picking all this stuff out that went with the walls. That's pretty much just one corner and wall of the room which I have claimed as mine but if you look around the room on shelves and walls, I have other stuff laying around.
There are a few Michigan things, it's hard to put that stuff up because of all the red in the room.
Last but not least, this is above the couch. Another Hobby Lobby pickup by the wife.
I have a bunch of other stuff that I could put up but a lot of it is in boxes in storage and I'm not going to drag all of that up until I actually get my real Man Cave, which will be in a year or 2 when I start kicking kids out and taking one of their rooms. For now, this little corner will do when I need to work on cards (or to be honest, get away from the wife for a bit.)
