Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Just a reminder that all these photos come from TCDB (except the random Relic) as I don't keep scans of my cards anymore. The Magglio I grabbed from my blog because there wasn't one on TCDB. I am currently working on getting everything I have scanned on there but haven't made it to my relics/autograph binder yet.

A lot of White Sox cards up there which isn't too surprising. 5 White Sox cards and none of them were in my player collections. I do enjoy doing these posts because I sometimes run into a card or 2 that I haven't seen in awhile, like the Magglio relic card. 3 cards from Jeff at 2x3 Heroes who we've seen his name a lot in the last month or so.

Thursday Autos

Got a couple of envelopes today with a couple of autographs.

This is the first card of Kyle McCulloch who I don't even know or remember him so that's not a surprise. I only paid $1.70/shipped for it.

This is my 14th card and 4th autograph of Erik Johnson. In the 4 years he was an active MLB player, he only played in 22 games and 18 of those were with the Sox. He was shipped off in the Fernando Tatis trade (which I still regret) with the Padres. I picked this up for $3.21/shipped.

White Sox Auto

Technically, I got 31 cards in the mail today but I'm only going to show you one. I decided to try one of those COMPLETE YOUR SETS buy it nows on Ebay. I took the set that I was closest to completing, actually, I chose between 1987 and 1985 Topps because I had the same amount of cards (709). I chose the 1985 set because it would be the cooler set to complete. I mean, 1987 set, everybody has those. So I picked up 30 cards from that set to put it at 739 cards, or 93.3% completed. I paid $4.99/shipped for the cards which equals out to just under $.17/card.

Before all you awesome people start offering to help me complete the set with a trade. I don't really trade anymore. I don't really have anything to trade with. I probably have a few dupes that I could get rid of but not enough to make the effort. So while I appreciate all the offers, thanks but no thanks.

Now, on to the 1 card I was going to show you which is probably a duplicate on this blog because I do already have it. It's a White Sox auto though and if I get them cheap enough, I'll keep dupes of autos and relics.

I only paid $1.32/shipped for this past prospect, as he's no longer even in the big leagues. Nor was he no longer with the White Sox in 2016 (his last in the league).

Canadian White Sox

I got my first of probably many packages from a certain Canadian seller. I've been winning some of his cards and he has some ending for about 4 or 5 days in a row so I wait until he has an evening that nothing is ending and I pay for what I've won over the last week. The fees are cheaper for him if he gets a lump sum as well as shipping them all at once instead of an envelope daily. How he can afford to offer free shipping, from Canada, is beyond me, especially when you see the prices I paid. All of these cards go to the White Sox Collection.

2013 Topps Mini Chasing History
Topps is really taking advantage of us collector's with all the mini's. I picked up this Adam Dunn for $.16/shipped.

2014 Donruss the Rookies

2014 Donruss the Rookies

2014 Donruss the Rookies
I also picked up these 3 from the new Donruss. I got the Matt Davidson and Erik Johnson for $.16/shipped each and the Marcus Semien for $.15/shipped.

2015 Donruss Preferred Bronze
Another Donruss, only this one isn't a rookie, he's an All-Star. I got this Jose Abreu for a quarter/shipped.

2012 Topps Gold Sparkle

2012 Topps Gold Sparkle
I also picked up these 2 gold sparkle cards on the cheap. The Gordon Beckham came to me for $.15/shipped and the Matt Thornton for a quarter/shipped.

2003 Fleer Showcase
Last but not least, one of our many superstar rookies that didn't pan out. I picked up this card of Joe Borchard for $.15/shipped as well.

2 days of Mail

I did get some more cards in the mail yesterday but I had some car trouble after work and then had a softball game so by the time I got home and showered, I just didn't feel like getting online to post so we'll do 2 days of cards today.

1981 Donruss ($.38/shipped)
1981 Donruss ($.54/shipped)
1981 Fleer ($.54/shipped)
3 cards, 2 Player Collections, a Fisk and 2 Schmidt's. All 1981. I believe I've bid on the Donruss Schmidt before and could never win it so it was nice to finally get it.

1981 Topps ($.12/shipped)
1981 Topps ($.24/shipped)
1983 Fleer ($.16/shipped)
1984 Topps ($.26/shipped)
4 more vintage as you can tell. I only put a quarter plus a few pennies (like I usually do) on the 1980's vintage which if you saw the last post, you know I still manage a bunch.

1987 Topps All-Star Set
I did get one for the White Sox collection as well, got it for $.54/shipped. I remember trying to get all these cards as a kid. I believe they were wrapper mail ins or something. I think I got most of mine from card shows and trading with other kids.

The next 3 cards I received today from 2 sellers.

1985 Fleer
1985 Fleer
Both of these 1985 Fleer came from the same seller. The Ozzie Smith goes to the Vintage Collection, I picked it up for $.26/shipped and the Ripken's card goes to the Ripken Collection, I grabbed it for only $.28/shipped.

2014 Topps Stadium Club Autograph
I picked up this auto of the former White Sox pitcher, I say former because he was traded in early June for James Shields, who hasn't exactly panned out, yet. I grabbed this auto for $2.99/shipped.

Big Mail Day Thursday

It was a big mail day today, I came home to 5 envelopes on the recliner. 5 envelopes with 7 cards but less talk, more pictures.

2015 Topps Archives Silver
Picked this card up for $.53/shipped. Not a bad card, especially since I didn't even know they did these with other colors. Oh, and it's numbered to /199 as well.

2008 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee

Like the Archives above in different colors, I didn't know of this set either, or insert set I should say. I grabbed it for $.17/shipped. Obviously, both of those cards go to the Ryan Zimmerman collection and brings that collection to 74 cards.

2015 Panini Prizm
I managed to pick up another Ripken, the scan or picture is blue tinted but the card is more gray and silver. This Cal card puts that collection at 227 cards.

2015 Topps Chrome Prism Refractor
I was surprised to get this card but maybe his face was scaring away other bidders. I grabbed this Chris Sale for only $.32/shipped. It is my 103 card of the Sale collection.

2015 Bowman Prospect Yellow
I do bid on just plain ol White Sox cards when they tickle my fancy. I liked this one because of the yellow border. I guess I have a fetish for colored borders. I picked this one up for $.54/shipped for the White Sox collection.

2014 Donruss Elite Turn of the Century autograph
This card didn't scan or photograph well at all, all that gold at the top is actually green. Like I said yesterday, I've been putting max bids of $3 on autos. I picked this one up for $1.99/shipped. He has pitched for the Sox for a few games a year for the last few years. I think he was even called up for a game earlier this season already so he has to be on the bubble to staying in the bigs.

2014-15 Donruss Elite Die Cut Autograph
I was really surprised to pick this one up. I even went a little over my budget limit of $3 and won it for the minimum bid which ended up at $3.44/shipped. This is only my 5th card of Glenn Robinson III and it's my 2nd auto but it is my first of his in a pro uniform. As you can tell up there, it's also numbered to /99.

New Additions - White Sox Collections/Group Break

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise noted) and all were under $.50/shipped.

Even with all the cards that Jeff and Dennis sent me, and all the cards I picked up on Ebay, I still got others during the last month. I also received my cards from a group break that "Fantastic Catch" held. I have been randomizing this post along with all the others so it's just coincidence that you get 2 days straight of all White Sox cards. Let's take a look at what we got and the next post will be back to the stuff I've been doing.

2008 TriStar ProJections High # Series

Chris Carter is the only name I recognize and I'm pretty sure he never played for us. He was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Carlos Quentin.

2008 TriStar Prospects Plus

I don't recognize Kyle Russell but I definitely know the other 2. Jordan Danks is John Danks little brother who has played for us but just couldn't quite stick. He got in 180 games in the 3 years with us but I don't show him with any playing time yet for the Philadelphia Phillies. Gordon Beckham had a great rookie season with us back in 2009, but couldn't put it all together for the next 5 years before we traded him to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for half the 2014 season. He signed back with us during the offseason and is now a bench player for us.

2011 Donruss Elite Extra Edition

I've heard of all these prospects but I don't think any of them have had significant playing time with the parent club. Although Carlos Sanchez was just called up at the end of last week and is our starting second baseman.

I haven't heard of any of these guys other than on draft day. Hey, lookie there, I got an autograph though. That's always a positive when joining a break.

In case you're interested, the reason I pretty much always post pics of single cards is because of these 2 blogs that I use to store my cards. My Personal Collections and My Baseball Card Obsession.
