Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

2017 Topps & more

Today, we're going to head back to the team collections. Tim Anderson says we're the best in the league, I hope they plan on backing that up. I know they play their first spring training game on Sunday but I haven't looked to see if it's on TV yet.

We'll start off this all Topps post with a great photo on a Chrome card. Chrome were just out of the budget range so this was the only one I picked up.

This Frazier was the last one I needed for the team set and I happened to stumble across his mini as well.

The A&G X set is different though, I'm only about half way on that team set even after getting these 3.

These 2 Archives also finish out that team set so I accomplished this with a number of 2017 team sets. Love the 1982 reprints.

While I didn't pick up any Bunt base, I did get these 2 blue parallels. They must have been all off my budget because it's a pretty decent sized team set at 9 cards and I only have 2.

There's only 4 in this team set and this card puts me 1 card away. I like the looks of the card, how it looks like he's stepping out of it.

This Stadium Club isn't the great photos that I enjoy, I like the action shots but it does complete the team set, minus the variation of Jose Abreu.

While everything above this photo are 2017, I did get a few more from 2018, all in one pic. All of these complete the various team sets, the gold is just a bonus. The Update is complete, again, minus the Abreu variation.

New Additions - White Sox Collection (2012-2015)

This round of cards have all been randomized, let's get to today's cards.

Today's random post came up with White Sox collection additions from the modern era of cards. There is only 1 more post in this round, we'll see if I can't squeeze that out tomorrow then I'm not sure what I'm going to do because I haven't gotten any more cards since I received these

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise noted) and all were under $.50/shipped.

3 pretty cools cards picked up from Ebay. I've thought about a player collection of Abreu because I like him and the way he plays but I'm leery because I'm afraid he won't stay with the White Sox, that is the way of the world anymore. A Topps parallel of Hector Santiage and a Gold Adam Eaton.

My cousin also threw in this card and I assume it was a throw in because it was the only modern card that wasn't a player collection in the box but I needed it so I'll take it.

Check out My Personal Collections (now with over 2600 cards) and My Baseball Card Obsession (now with over 3300 cards and over 1000 different card labels and 1625 players).

Cheaper Than Stamps #58

zzz-cheaperthanstamps

Yesterday, we finished with the player collections.  Today we start (and finish) with the White Sox team set pick-ups.  From newest to oldest.

2014 Topps – Alexei Ramirez, Dayan Viciedo, Matt Lindstrom, Hector Santiago, Josh Phegley, Jeff Keppinger, Jose Quintana, Erik Johnson and Andre Rienzo

This is the whole series I team set, minus the Chris Sale because it goes to the Chris Sale collection and now I need to pick one up for the team collection.  I grabbed this whole lot for $2.28 for 10 cards which equals out to $.23 a card so it was still under budget.

Dayan Viciedo – 2013 Topps

Um, I have no record of purchasing this card.  I went all the way back to November of last year and couldn’t find it.  I promise that I got it for under $.29.

Somehow, I didn’t win and other newer cards so let’s get to the vintage portion of todays post.

1972 Topps – Wilbur Wood

I already had one of these in the Wilbur Wood collection so I grabbed this copy to go in the White Sox collection.  I actually picked up a 3 card lot of 1972 cards so the other 2 go to the Vintage collection.  I paid $.79 for the lot, which equals to $.26 each.

John Buzhardt – 1966 Topps

I grabbed this card for $.30.  It helps with that team set but I still need a bunch of cards, so it didn’t help much.  I’m not going to turn down a 60’s card for under the cost of a stamp though.

Eddie Fisher – 1964 Topps

Ditto with this card, I still need a bunch for this years team but again, a 60’s card for $.29.  You can’t really beat that, it’s essentially a quarter box find.

That completes all the cards I got for the White Sox collection.  Come back tomorrow as we start with the Vintage collection pick-ups.

Here’s the rundown on how much I’ve paid and to which collection so far in the Cheaper Than Stamps series.
