Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Colorful Friday

The World Baseball Classic has got me so ready to watch the Sox. I just got to figure how I'm going to do that since I cancelled my cable. I'd pay for a MLB package if they would get with the times and not black everything out. I'm not sure why the MLB is so stubborn to change their policies.

Enough about baseball, at least for a week or so. Today's post is former Wolverine football post. It'll be a quicky as I have some things to do before going to bed as early as I do for work. I have to get up early to get up to Lansing for the card show tomorrow.

The top scan is from my latest Sportlots package and the bottom card is from my LCS. Lots and lots of color.

These 9 cards give me 24 cards of Chris.

I picked up this at my LCS as well, well technically, I pulled it out of his box of cards in my card room but I still got it from the LCS.

This card of Hurst gives me 21 of Moe.

These also came from that LCS box. The one on the left is #'d to /99 and the one on the right is to /199. These 2 are also rookies. I just realized, every card on this post is a rookie card.

These 2 cards give me 26 cards of Taco.

There is a lot of shinyness on this post

More Maurice

Finally got to watch some Michigan football today. We looked alright but I'm not sold on this team until we play someone decent but either way, it felt good to watch some football again.

Today's post is of a previous Michigan alumn. I only got one to show today but I just clicked send on some more from my Sportlots box so I'll have more coming.

This card gives me 11 cards of Maurice. I got this from Sluggo's Sports Cards but I'm not sure how because I haven't done NFL cards for him yet but that's what it says on my sheet. I must have just ran across it at his house. I'll be going over tomorrow to start pricing his NFL cards so maybe I'll come across something else. Like I said though, I have more coming from Sportlots so that'll bump it up a few more.

Las Vegas Mo

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

One of the last 2 posts for this month. Good thing I got cards coming on Saturday for next month. I have cards at my mom's from my cousin as well if I could actually remember to pick them up.

Today's cards are another former Wolverine. When I see him, I picture him after a sack, rubbing his belly.

Big Mo Hurst. Last I heard, he's been pretty good for the now, Las Vegas Raiders. He was supposed to be a top 5 pick in the draft but it came out that he had a heart condition and he dropped into the 5th round. I remember thinking a lot of team were going to regret passing him up. These 2 cards put my Hurst Collection into the double digits with 10 cards.

Finally!

Hey, guess what I finally got done. I finally got the package that Dennis sent me all logged in and finished. It was a pretty awesome package, which if you've received one from Dennis before, than you know, because he always gives great cards. It ended up giving me 77 more cards to my collections. Obviously, I'm not going to show them all but I will hit some highlights.

I just wanted to show this sticker of the logo because, it's a logo and it's a sticker.

These are representing the White Sox Collection cards, I chose the Moncada cards because he's coming into his own and I'm enjoying watching him play.

I used this Breaston card to represent the Michigan collection cards just because I think it's a pretty cool looking card.

These 2 are also part of the Michigan collection but they are also player collections. I appreciated these because I don't have a bunch of either of these players.

Dennis and I also share these 2 player collections so he always hooks me up with a bunch of these players. I just selected a card each to represent here.

I am going to show all the cards of my Tier 1 PC's just because I don't get to add to those collections very often.

I love this Mike Hart because I really like the Topps Magic cards. I think it's the vintage feel plus they are in the collegiate jerseys. This card makes 41 of Mike.

I'm pretty sure there were 4 Seaver's added to the PC, I must have forgotten to scan one. These 3 (and possibly 1 more) give me 356 different cards of his.

I really like seeing these as this is my favorite PC collection. I'm sure Dennis was just happy to get rid of some White Sox cards. These 4 cards make 436 of Konerko which is my top PC number.

If you think that was enough cards, you know Dennis don't play like that.

He also sent this relic of Frazier, I believe this is my 1st and only relic of his. I liked Frazier when he was with us, I wish he would have worked out better.

You know Dennis is going to hook me up with a Michigan auto, the dude has a ton of them. This is my 3rd different auto of Breaston and it wouldn't surprise me if they all came from Dennis.

He hit this player collection with a striped relic of Chris Sale. It's the best kind of Chris Sale because he's with the White Sox instead of the other one.

Last but not least, he sent this Chesson auto, a pink one at that. I haven't hit the double digits with Chesson cards yet but I now have 4 autographs out of 7 cards.

Huge shout out to Dennis, check him out over at Too Many Verlanders. It's pretty good, if you can get past all the Tigers cards. Thanks for the cards, they are greatly appreciated.

College Football Saturday

As you may, or may not know, Dennis and I got together to at the Big House for the Michigan game last weekend. He gave me a nice stack of cards in person since I saved him all that postage. Since I didn't get any cards in the mail today, I'll split it into 2 posts so they aren't to picture heavy.

Since it's college football Saturday, we'll start with the Wolverine cards.

Always like receiving cards of the Fab Five, they were the team that put Michigan on my personal map and started my love for the Wolverines.

All 3 of these guys had pretty good careers in the pros but they all started at Michigan. You should have heard of all these names before considering they have 33 years experience in the pros and Henne is still playing, well, still on a team.

You might have heard of this guy too. I love getting cards of him in the Maize and Blue. This is only my 5th of his and all are years after his draft in 2000.

Next we'll get into the player collection cards of former Wolverines.

This is my 6th card of Martin and is my 1st pro card. This is also the 1st card that I've gotten of his in the last 2 years so I was definitely happy to see a card of him.

This is my 9th card of Trey, almost in double digits. It's also the 1st card of his that I've received this year. I thought I would be able to pick his cards more quickly but they seem to be out of my price range.

This is my 8th card of Jake Butt. I expected him to have a pretty good pro career but in his 3rd season now, he has missed 2 of those with injuries.

This is only my 3rd card of Big Mo. I'm going to love him proving wrong all those idiots who passed on him in the first 4 rounds. He was a beast at Michigan.

These 2 cards of Stauskas give me 11 of the Canadian. I really like him when he played for Michigan.

These 2 cards make 7 of Wormley. Oddly enough, I started his collection off with 4 straight autographs and then the last 3 have been base cards.

These 3 cards make 43 card of Shoelace. I've been picking up his card pretty well this year, only had 2 last year and these 3 make 8 for this year. None of my pick-ups were as nice as that last one though. That is a sweet looking card.

That's it for this post, I do have another Michigan Man but you'll see his cards in tomorrows baseball packed post. Be sure to check out "Too Many Verlanders" and the better "Too Many Manninghams"

Weekend catch-up

This is a catch up post because I've gotten cards the last few days but hadn't posted them. I have various collections represented today.

We'll start with a couple of Bowman Heritage cards I picked up for a dime/shipped a piece. These go to the new Baseball collection which is anything that's not in my other collections.

I found this searching dime cards but it goes to the Vintage Collection. I picked it up for $.13/shipped. I'm always happy to grab 1981 Topps because I'm over 75% complete.

Now for the player collection portion. I picked up this Gary Carter from this years Archives set. I nabbed it for $.23/shipped. I've been bidding on a bunch of these Archives cards for my player collections but have only won a couple. This is my 116th card of Gary Carter.

I picked this 2018 up for $.25/shipped. It's my 96th card of Zimmy, slowly closing in on that century mark.

It's not a player collection but I grabbed it with the Zimmerman card. This White Sox collection card of the currently injured Abreu came to me for $.23/shipped. I only need 4 more players for that team set, but apparently they all have different versions so I need 7 more cards.

I picked up both of these Maurice Hurst's for the player collection as well as the Michigan collection. His cards are starting to come down, I've been bidding on his for awhile and just starting winning some. I've managed to get 4 of Mo so far. Both of these were $.34/each/shipped.

As you can tell, Denard's cards have come down as well. I picked up the triple relic card for only $2/shipped and the autograph for $3/shipped. Both great prices if you ask me. These 2 cards give me 41 cards of Shoelace.

Last but not least, I picked up this relic/auto card of Caris LeVert for only $3/shipped. This is my 7th card of LeVert and sadly, none of them are in his Wolverines uniform.
