Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Sorting Pickups and more

We set up at the Fort Wayne show today and yes, I purchased a few cards and got a few for free but you'll get those once I catch up.

Today, you're going to see cards that I got from my LCS from sorting and from visiting when I was dropping off the sorting.

I got all 3 of these while sorting. The boxes I did were mostly older stuff (the Perry) with a little bit of newer stuff (Hill & Livers). I did quite a few boxes and that was all I got (which is fine).

When I went in to drop the sorted cards and pick up more, Fred gave me a few cards to see if I need. There were a couple of Sox cards but this Dylan Cease was the only one I needed.

Fred remembered that I pulled a Kobe Bufkin relic from one of the sorts so he threw these aside for me as well. I didn't have to pay for them, he said I could keep them for sorting for him.

As I was looking around, I noticed a ton of autographed mini helmets, he said he bought a collection from someone who was collecting all the Heisman winners, plus there were some oddballs. There were 2 Michigan helmets so I was looking at those. I told him I'd take the 1 because it was cheap but I was debating on the other one. After awhile, I said damn it, what do you want for the other one.

The helmet on the right has 2 signatures, Jake Ryan and Blake Countess. That was the cheap one, he only had $15 on it. The one on the left however, is the one and only, Desmond Howard. He had $50 on that one. I was going to put it on credit and pay it later. He told me when he purchased them, he got such a good deal that I could just have the helmets for all the sorting I do. I told him I'd pay for them and he knows that but he said, it's fine, keep them. Sweet!

42 of the Maize and Blue

Finally got some time to get my latest additions logged and scanned. I had to scan about 15 cards for TCDB as well which takes more time. I accidentally posted the wrong scan on one of them so I had to hit the inaccuracies and told on myself. Oops! It was my very last scan that I was adding so I was probably excited to be finished and jumped the gun.

Tomorrow were doing a card show in Fort Wayne. I'm trying not to buy any cards since I'm not getting many hours in the next few weeks. We'll see how well I stick with that.

Today's post is a team post so that narrows it down to 2. It would be the team that's still playing, because we're in the playoffs.

The above 23 cards came from my brother. I'm pretty sure I mentioned here that he is sorting cards for a guy that pays him and he sends me pics of any Michigan cards that he runs across and I let him know if I had them or not and he gives me the ones that I don't.

In the 2nd scan, the Joppru is misspelled. You get a Desmond Howard, an Amani Toomer, a couple of Steve (Aidan's dad) Hutchinson and even the lone basketball card of Tractor Traylor.

In that last photo up, you'll notice the top 3 cards. He gave me those 3 because I didn't have them. Technically, I still don't. I went to mark them off on TCDB and the numbers weren't matching up and I noticed the description on the back.

They are supposed to be autographed but they aren't so now I need to get the autographed versions so I can mark them off of the TCDB correctly.

I picked up these 4 at the last card show in Plymouth. I actually bought a couple of color variations of a Michigan player PC and he threw these 4 in with them for me. There are a ton of those TK Legacy cards and I'm far from having many.

I picked up this team set at Ace Sports Cards in Holland Michigan. We were up in the area for a card show and didn't buy much so we Googled for some local card shops and found this. What we didn't think of was that they were at the show so there wasn't much there but I managed to find a few cards, and this team set. I grabbed it because I recognized the years of having the fab 5, which are the top 5 shown.

I don't usually pick up this many Michigan cards because I don't generally shop for them unless they are PC players so it's nice that I actually added this many cards.

Lots of 2's in the Maize and Blue

If you read yesterdays post, then you know where I'm sitting right now being as it's the 4th. Hopefully most people go back to work tomorrow and fireworks won't be going until real late.

I got my recent purchases (including a 434 card box from Sportlots) logged and I'm about half way with the scanning. I did all the few card players but I have some stacks of players with a lot of cards left. I'll probably knock those out tomorrow.

Today you get a team post, which narrows it down, a lot.

We'll start with this card of our current basketball coach that Dennis sent in his latest package. I don't have very many of him in his Michigan colors, this card makes number 6.

I picked up all these at the last Shipshewana show from Hollister. The 3 Woodson's give me 13 of him, I have more of him because he's starting to be included in modern day sets. The Omega and Paramount are listed as rookie cards. The Desmond Howard is only my 4th of his in the Maize and Blue but it's my first one that's numbered. All 4 of those cards were from his half off box.

I got this from Hollister as well but I think I grabbed it from him when I saw him at my LCS. He had his half off box with him and let me go through it. It's a printer's proof and has a print run to 175. It's my 7th card of Ty.

The title of this post is due to all of their jersey numbers. #25 (Howard) #2 (Woodson) #21 (Howard) #22 (Law).

Just a few cards

Lots of cards in this post and just like the last post, it all came from Dennis of "Too Many Verlanders." It's also the first post this month of a team and not a player although I scanned the majority of it by players.

I'm going to start off with a few Michigan cards of the other sports before I get to the majority of the post. This card is awesome. I've been wanting to get a Michigan hockey card, and it's numbered to /999. I don't really get into hockey but all the maize and blue makes this a great card. I do get to some Michigan hockey games now that Notre Dame has joined the Big Ten Conference (in hockey) so they come here to South Bend every year now.

These were the only 2 cards I need out of the basketball cards he sent me. Always happy to add a card of the Fab Five since they are the reason that I am a Michigan fan to this day. It is my 6th card of Webber and my 2nd of his backup.

Now we get into the football. I scanned some by player if they were popular players but these are all Michigan collection cards, not player collection cards even though I'll probably list how many cards I have of the player.

These 2 cards of Arrington give me 15 of him.

3 cards of Avant also give me 15. Love those Topps Magic cards.

1 great looking card of Carter gives me 8. You know I'm going to like a vintage look alike.

3 cards of Edwards give me 10. Another magic, yes!

5 cards of super Mario give me 14 of him.

Make that 15 with this sweet relic card which is my first of his.

And a whole bunch of Wheatley, 12 to be exact. These give me 16 of him.

Next up are some singles of popular players.

This is my first of our current coach of him in the Maize and Blue. I have a first pitch baseball card of him as well.

I'm showing this one because I have a six degrees of seperation with him. He married a classmate of mine in high school. His wife's brother was a QB at Michigan and was Jerame's roomate. Her brother was also the QB at my high school when my brother played with him. It is my 2nd card of Tuman, the other is an auto.

This is my 9th card of the #1 draft pick.

This is my 3rd card of the ESPN analyst. Oh yeah, he won a Heisman too so there's that as well.

This is my 18th card of the 12 year veteran and he's still active.

This is my 3rd card of Old 98 even though I've never heard of the set but I'm not picky either.

You know with this many Michigan cards, there's going to be some TK Legacy cards. I really like the cards of the old programs, and they're numbered to /250.

Even though I showed 43 cards, Dennis added 102 cards to the Michigan collection. I told you he sent me a bunch of cards and there are still more to come in some player collections.
