Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Tribe Cards haul

I got another package in the mail today, it was my cards from last years contest/game (?) that David over at TribeCards has run for the last few years. While I got 39 cards total, I only needed 8 cards from the package. I did grab 3 of the latter to send out in PWE's as well so the other 28 cards will probably go to my cousin. Let's take a look at what David pulled for me.

First we'll check out the new White Sox Collection cards.

2014 Topps Heritage
2014 Topps Heritage
2014 Topps Allen & Ginters
2013 Topps Heritage
Some Heritage and an Allen & Ginters from the last few years. All were needed for those various team sets.

1992 Topps Stadium Club
1992 Topps Stadium Club
I even got a couple of Stadium Club from the early 90's that I needed.

I even managed to get a couple of cards for my player collections.

2014 Topps Allen & Ginter's Mini
One card for the Steve Carlton collection. I also received the base of that card but I actually already had it.

2014 Topps Heritage Chrome Purple Refractor
Of course, I have to save the best for last. This is probably considered my hit of the package. I love the colored refractors. I should say I love the way they look, because I do hate that they add so many more cards that I have to add to my collections. If you know how I get my cards, you may find it odd (as I do) that I actually own the Heritage Chrome Purple Refractors of Chris Sale from 2013-2016. I guess it helps that as far as collectors go, Sale is underrated. That is just fine with me, makes it easier for me to collect his cards.

New additions to the White Sox and Vintage collections

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise said) and all were under $.50/shipped.

*Since I made a huge purchase (147 cards) from JustCommons.com, I'm going to combine them with my Ebay purchases for the next couple of weeks.  I bought the cheapest cards of my player collections. I spent $2 on my tier 1 collections and $1 on the rest. I also picked up one relic card to make my purchase an even $25.

Today, we will start with the Vintage collection and Vintage collection pick-ups.

1984 Topps - Just Commons

1982 Fleer - Ebay

1975 Topps - Ebay

I'm not sure why the Willie Randolph was in my Just Commons purchase, I assumed it was an accident, but I can still use it. I already have the 1982 Fleer in my White Sox collection so this one goes to the Vintage collection.

1990 Donruss lot - Ebay

2007 Bowman Heritage - Just Commons

2014 Bowman Platinum - Ebay

2014 Panini Prizm - Ebay

2013 Topps Chasing History - Ebay

2015 Topps Rainbow - Ebay

2006 Upper Deck Star Attractions Relic - Just Commons

The 6 card lot of 1990 Donruss White Sox cards I grabbed all of those for less than $.50 total. The Joe Crede at the top (Bowman Heritage) was also a mistake by Just Commons, I ordered one of those for the Joe Crede Collection and for some reason, they sent me 2. Works for me since I could actually use 2. I'm not sure if the Adam Dunn is a parallel or not, I suppose I need to look into that. It wasn't listed as one when I bought it off Ebay, but looking at it without comparing next to another, it looks awfully shiny like. The Iguchi relic was the aforementioned purchase to get my Just Commons purchase to $25.

Ebay pick-up #1

ebay01

We’re starting this edition of Ebay pick-ups with some high dollar merchandise.  Not 1, not 2, but 3 1991 Donruss cards for the White Sox collection for the low, low price of $.25/shipped.  Not what I search for when I do Ebay shopping, but I needed all 3 and for a quarter, to hard to pass that up.

What to do?

I ponder this question most evenings.  Spent last night working on copying team set lists over to my own list again.  I started with the year 1900 and I’m only at 1922.  I’m excited to get to the current years just to see if I already have any team sets.  But I’m forcing myself to start where I left off and work my way to the current years because it keeps me motivated to keep working on the lists.  Problem is, I have a whole slew of crap I should be doing.

  • Getting trade packages ready to go out.
  • Scan and write up posts for 1973, 1981, Today’s 9, ect.
  • Want to change my blog template, background, ect.
  • Finish team sets lists and player collection want lists.
  • Shop on ebay to spend my ebay bucks.
  • Put away PC cards already scanned.
  • Catch up reading all of your blogs.

There’s probably more but I just can’t think of them at this point.  I suppose it would help if I would concentrate on one at a time until I complete it, but where’s the fun in that.

I’ve also come to the conclusion that I need to spend my money better and I’ve heard other bloggers mention this and I think I’m going to head that route as well.  I’m only going to spend money on stuff for my collections or trade bait.  I’m going to try to limit my spending on buying packs and blasters.  The logic I heard, and agree with is, why spend $20 on a blaster of cards and end up with a few cards for my collection when I could spend $20 on cards I want.  I’m going to try to join some box breaks and get cards that way.  The bad part is, that leaves me very little to trade with so I will probably have to cut back on the trading.  I do love trading with bloggers because they are so generous but I won’t feel comfortable trading somebody a few cards when I know they will send me a stack.  I’ll feel guilty for not sending much.  I’ll still pick up trade bait here and there so I can trade, and that’ll be a good way to get hits.  Pick up hits for your hits.

I guess since I try to show cards.  I’ll show you a few cards my wife picked up for me.  She’s really into free stuff online and coupons.  She earned some points on some website and picked up 4 cards of my team.  The usual with these kind of sites, advertise you can get vintage, but truth be told, we’re going to send you cards from 1986-1994.  Which is what they did.  4 1990 Fleer.  But it was a good purchase because it was free and I actually needed 3 of the 4.  The only one I had already had was an Ozzie Guillen.

So I got to add these to my collection.  Thanks baby!  Oh, that’s something else I need to do.  Add “Put away PC cards already scanned”  of course, by the time you get down here, you would have already read it and didn’t know I added it later.  Anyways, I jumped in on a 2012 Topps box break already (JABO’s) so hopefully I’ll get close if not complete a series 1 team set.

I gotta go do, I don’t know, something.  Crap!  Add catch up on all your blogs, I’m a few days behind on those too.

Maybe I’ll get everything done.  Either way, I’m out for now.
