Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Cards from my 1st year collecting

Looks like we are getting a Rays/Dodgers World Series. I was hoping for the Braves in there but I was also hoping for the White Sox and we know how well that worked out.

I randomned for today's post and came up with 1986. Except that I just posted that. Apparently I forgot to take it off the list after the last post. I randomned again and we get this year.

I picked up these 2 from the baseballcardstore.ca, they didn't have much that I needed but I guess that worked out since I also got these.

Jeff hooked me up with 17 more from the 1981 Topps set. If you remember, before I started the Vintage collection, I started with trying to get the 1973 and 1981 Topps sets so I'm a little further in on this one. These 19 cards put that set at 584 cards which is just over 80% completed. I'm not sure why I don't make a push to finish it, it's not an expensive set. Just lazy I guess.

Jeff also sent me these 12 cards from the Donruss set. As much as I remember the Topps set, this set was right behind it on the memory scale. The Fleer not so much, just didn't see as many of them growing up. I've seen the Topps a lot over the years but not the Donruss so I really enjoy getting these and remembering all the cards. You can also tell these came from Jeff because of all the the Cubs cards. I still think he's a closet Cubs fan. He does like a lot of Chicago teams.

I promise that I have PC and White Sox cards as well. At the rate the great random in the sky is going, I'll get through all the vintage first.

Sluggo - Vintage (1973-1970)

Back to work today, damn it! 2 weeks off makes it really hard to go back but after going back, I'm still here posting so that's a positive. These are the times I tend to stop posting because I get to tired after work.

I will continue on with some more vintage from Sluggo. Today, we'll get through the rest of the 70's.

Sluggo gave me 10 or 12 cards from the 1973 set but I had most of them as that's one of the sets I'm over half way completed. These 2 are pretty good cards regardless, especially for free. I'll always take Munson cards, even if he did play for the Yankees.  These 2 put the set at 457 cards for a 69% completed.

I also got 2 more for the 1972 set. These only give me 64 cards for that set which is good for 8% completed.

These 9 cards, plus the 1 below from the 1971 set definitely helped it along. They put the set at 107 cards and 14% completed.

I separated this one because it also goes to my Tom Seaver collection. This card gave me 370 different cards of Tom Terrific.

Last but not least, these 4 cards from the 1970 set put it at 63 cards and 8.7% completed. Yes, that's a former Wolverine at the end and no, I'm not completed with the vintage posts. Tomorrow will head to the 60's.

Three in One

I got one envelope with 3 cards in it today. I bid on a bunch of his cards for sale but it only came down to these 3 cards that I won.

I picked up these 2 1980 Topps for the Vintage Collection and the top card goes to the White Sox Collection as well. They give me 129 cards of that set and the Junior Moore brings the White Sox team set to still needing 10 cards. I got the Moore for $.21.shipped and the Crowley for $.25/shipped.

Most of the cards I saw he had for sale were vintage but this was thrown in there as well. He used 9 cards per picture on his listings and this card was with 8 other 1980 Topps. I also picked this one for $.25/shipped. This puts my Mike Schmidt Collection at the century mark. It's been moving on up since the beginning of the year, of all my player collections, I've picked up more of him than any other in that time frame (yes, I've been keeping track.)

New Additions - Vintage Collection, 1983

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise noted) and all were under $.50/shipped.

I'm listing Ebay stuff but also I got an awesome package from Dennis over at "Too Many Verlanders" and my favorite "Too Many Manninghams", although you'll see a lot of that great stuff on the TMM blog whenever I get that post together. I also received 2 huge packages of mainly White Sox cards from Jeff over at "2 x 3 Heroes" as well and both guys also sent a bunch of vintage. I'm also randomizing the posts so let's see what's next.

2 more John Mayberry's and 2 more to the vintage collection from Dennis.

Jeff added 14 more to the Vintage collection, representing all 3 major brands in 1983.

I even managed to pick up 2 more for the Fleer and Topps set from Ebay.

In case you're interested, the reason I pretty much always post pics of single cards is because of these 2 blogs that I use to store my cards. My Personal Collections and My Baseball Card Obsession.
