Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

January Pick-Ups - White Sox Collection

I'm still trying to get through my January posts so bare with me. I have learned to combine posts so I can get through the month so we'll see how well I do with February. I'm going to blame it on a short month, yeah, that sounds good. I actually had this set to post this morning just to space out my posts but apparently that didn't work.

January's pick-ups come from
  1. Dennis at "Too Many Verlanders" and "Too Many Manninghams"
  2. Sluggo (my cousin)
  3. Ebay
  4. Packs (I actually bought some packs)

I've randomed and todays selection are going to the White Sox Collection

2015 Topps
1987 Donruss Opening Day Box Set
2013 Topps Calling Card
2014 Topps
Dennis sent me these 4 cards to go to the White Sox collection.

1984 Donruss ($.14)
1992 Topps ($.06)
1993 Score Select ($.12)
2008 Bowman Chrome Refractor ($.15)
Grabbed these 4 cards all really cheap, the first 3 cards didn't surprise me, the refractor did. Being Orlando Cabrera, I figured I had a shot at it, but not at $.15.

2015 Topps
2014 Topps Update
2014 Topps Update Red Foil
2014 Topps Update
2014 Topps Update
I'd say I did really well with the Update box compared to the base pack.

New Additions - Carl Yastrzemski Collection

I have randomed them and let's see what we got (unless you peeked at the title.) Sorry if a few are blurry, I didn't realize it when I edited them and I wasn't going to go back, find the cards and take new photos.

Carl Yastrzemski Collection

Both of these 2 pick ups were out of the dime boxes as well. Obviously the top card is a reprint since it came out of the dime boxes but I still didn't have it.

Be sure to check out my other 2 card blogs as well.

Just like it says, photos of baseball cards. The "Blog" currently sits at over 4400 cards featured and I add more weekly.

This "Blog" has photos of the cards from my PC's. I have all the cards that were featured on this blog over here and will be working on adding all of my cards.

New Additions - Yastrzemski and Zimmerman

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise noted) and all were under $.50/shipped.

I'm listing Ebay stuff but also I got an awesome package from Dennis over at "Too Many Verlanders" and my favorite "Too Many Manninghams", although you'll see a lot of that great stuff on the TMM blog whenever I get that post together. I also received 2 huge packages of mainly White Sox cards from Jeff over at "2 x 3 Heroes" as well and both guys also sent a bunch of vintage. I'm also randomizing the posts so let's see what's next.

Jeff sent me some Zimmerman cards, and some really nice one at that. A couple of refractors, a couple inserts and an Opening Day. All much appreciated.

Picked up 4 Yastrzemski's from Ebay, I love the first card. I used to pick up those Kmart sets all the time so those bring back the memories. I also managed to pick up the other Opening Day of Zimmerman.

In case you're interested, the reason I pretty much always post pics of single cards is because of these 2 blogs that I use to store my cards. My Personal Collections and My Baseball Card Obsession.

COMC Rainbow’s #1

As I stated in my previous post, I picked up a bunch of the 2013 parallels during COMC’s spring cleaning post.

comc-beckham

I picked up the infamous Emerald parallel of Gordon Beckham.  These are pretty slick looking cards.

comc-youkilis

Also, picked up the Kevin Youkilis for under a buck.

comc-reed

I grabbed these 2 parallels of our closer Addison Reed.  Another Emarald and I assume the Target (red) parallel.

Come back tomorrow and I’ll show you some more rainbow pick-ups from the 2013 sets.

Vacation Pick-Ups #1

I’m going to start off with some of the newer pick-ups and work to the better stuff.

ncwsox01

Picked up the top 3 for $.20/each and the bottom 2 came from Sluggo.  Always love the Xfractors and check out the black border Omar Vizquel.  Those are numbered to /99 but you have to love black border White Sox cards.

ncwsox02

Most (if not all) came for $.20 each.  Nothing extremely exciting but I needed all of these for the White Sox Collection.

ncwsox03

Here are a few oddball cards that I picked up at the same price.  You gotta love the Michael Jordan at the top and the minor league Frank Thomas at the bottom left.

ncwsox04

I also picked up these 3 80’s cards but all great White Sox players.  I know, I promised you great cards in these Vacation pick-up posts but come back tomorrow for some 70’s pick-ups.  Ok, ok.  I’ll show you some vintage.

ncwsox23

Look at those!  Ok, I can’t do that to you.  These are reprints that were put out in the early 90’s (I think) by Red Heart Dog Food.  But I still think they are cool.  These are glossy though, not that I have a problem with that, but it doesn’t go well with vintage look-a-likes.

Come back tomorrow for the start of the true vintage.  I promise.

Lineage blaster #1

Picked up a couple of blasters of the Topps Lineage.  I really like these sets.  I like the new stars mixed with the old.  The replica 1975 mini’s (if I was a set collector, I would definitely go for that one),  Not sure if I like the jersey cards being on the 1975 mini’s because it almost ruins the look of the card.  I’m not big at reading all the odds of pulling this or that.  I assume, since the blasters come a jersey card to a box, that the checklist on those are pretty big.  But on to the pulls.

blasterbreak02-01

I’ll start with the vintage players.  As I stated before, I really like these.  I like pulling players from the past.  It’s been overdone on a few players (Mickey Mantle & Jackie Robinson) but even those guys I like to pull in packs.  I also got an Albert Belle (yeah, you read that right) but didn’t have the need to scan that one.

blasterbreak02-02

Josh Hamilton 3D, Robinson Cano sparkly (Diamond Anniversary), and Tsuyoshi Nishioka (Platinum Diamond.)

blasterbreak02-03

David Price (Venezuelan) and Zach Britton (Rookies).  Not a big fan of the Venezuelan set, I do like the Rookies set if only for the memories of the Commemorative set’s of the 80’s that I used to have.

blasterbreak02-04

Kevin Youkilis (‘75 mini) and a Ricky Romero (‘75 mini relic)

All the above are available for trade, the below are not.

blasterbreak02-05

And of course, the cards going into my collections.  I was pretty pumped to get both Seaver’s in one box.  I was looking at buying them both, I’m glad I didn’t.

Like I said above, I’m a fan of this set.  I’ve purchased another blaster that I’ll review tomorrow.
