Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Shipshy Stuff

Another weekend, another show. Yesterday's show in Buchanan was ran by a 15 year old. The same 15 year old that pulled that Ohtani die cut, numbered to /99 autograph from a Mega we sold him over a year ago. He's come a long way just in the time we've know him. His father gave him some start up money and he started doing breaks. He still does them, along with setting up at shows and now running one. His father said that he paid him all back within 6 months and is essentially running his own business now and I'm guessing he makes pretty good money doing so. His father also says he plays baseball for the school and get's straight A's. To be honest, I'm kind of proud of the kid and I don't know him that well. I mean really, the best part of him is he's a Michigan fan so....

Anyways, we did his show yesterday. He had asked us if we'd be interested when he was thinking about running his own and we agreed. We've done a few shows that way, they tend to come to us because we've got a pretty good reputation. I purchased a few cards, and came home with some freebies but you'll have to wait to see those.

Today's post is cards I picked up at the Shipshewana show a couple of weeks ago.

I picked this up from the High Heat table. He used to set up across from us in Plymouth so I got to know him pretty good. He's a White Sox fan as well so we usually have things to talk about it. I just checked his table real quick before we tore down at the end of the show. I like to throw him some business but this was the only Cronenworth he had that I didn't. I'm sure I overpaid at $5 but like I said, I like the guy so that doesn't bother me. It is my 85th card of Jake.

I went to Hollister's table as well because he always has a Michigan box so I don't have to sort through a bunch of stuff to find anything. I grabbed these 5 auto's from that box. I was trying to grab auto's of guys I don't have auto's of and ended up with 3 guys that I didn't even have cards of yet. Quinn Nordin, Chris Hinton and Tarik Black. I probably won't do a PC of Black because he transferred out but I will still pick up his Michigan stuff. The Jack Blomgren is my 6th card of his but that's my 1st auto. I mainly grabbed the Kauffman because there isn't a ton of Michigan baseball cards out there so I grabbed it. It's my 3rd auto of Kauffmann out of 3 cards I have of him. I paid $15 for all 5 plus an additional auto that I picked up for Dennis.

The day after the Shipshewana show, we did the South Bend show so guess what pick ups you'll get to see tomorrow (if I post).

Fort Wayne Adds

I worked on sorting for the LCS today. I have a bunch of cards that I'm putting in player order. I got them all in stacks, alphabetically by last name. Now I have to go through each letter and put them in player order, and of course, check some to see if they are anything that I need (or Kevin or Dennis). I only got as far as the A's but I did pull one for me and a few for Kevin. I probably won't finish them until next weekend since we're doing 10 hour days this week.

We set up at the Fort Wayne show yesterday. It was a good show, it usually is. It helped that it was raining out, the only time the shows aren't as good as usual is when it's nice weather out. I did do some shopping around looking at some vintage but I was looking for a couple of specific cards and didn't see them so I didn't buy anything. I did come home with some cards for myself though as Kevin went through a .50 cent box and bought a bunch of color parallels. He got a discount for buying a bunch as well so he paid less than .50 cents. I paid even less for the ones I wanted, as in, I didn't pay anything. This is what I pulled for myself.

I grabbed 3 more of Tim Anderson. The Donruss is the Lime Green Parallel, the Prizm Machines is the Silver and the bottom card is just a plain old refractor. These 3 give me 223 cards of TA.

I also picked up a Lime Green of Eloy along with a White Wave parallel of Prism. These 2 give me 197.

I picked up this Red, White and Blue of Andrew Vaughn. It's my 3rd parallel of that card and I still don't have the base one. It is my 90th card of Vaughn.

All of the above are all part of the White Sox collection as well.

I also found a few former Wolverines that are current PC's.

Always happy to pick up our 1 semi-star in the pros. The nice thing is he keeps getting more and more cards, unlike a lot of my Michigan baseball PC's who pretty much have Bowman cards and that's it. This Silver parallel of Mosaic is my 74th card of Cronenworth.

See, a Bowman parallel. This is my 5th card of Jack. 3 of them are Bowman parallels and 2 Panini Draft Picks. Another reason I don't want Panini out of business, they do draft pick sets which are in college uni's.

I also picked up 1 football card of Kwity Paye. He's been getting a bunch of cards in new products as well. I only had 15 cards in 2 years time until this year, now I'm at 58.

I save my Tier 1 add for last. I added this insert parallel, the Green one. I already have the base and the Silver. This is my 573rd card of Tom Terrific.

Triple PC

Today's random triples the collection of this player.

I picked up the base (paper, if that's what you want to call it) on Sportlots and the Chrome I grabbed from my cousin. This is only my 2nd and 3rd cards of Jack who played in the 2019 College World Series with Michigan. These are the first 2 cards in pro uniforms as well.

More Maize and Blue

Today's random gave us a couple of brand new PC's because you know, I could always use more. The nice thing about going to a card show in Michigan is they tend to sort the Michigan cards to make them easier to find. I was still pretty far from Ann Arbor but they did it anyways. They definitely don't separate them like that here in Notre Dame country.

Both these guys were on the World Series runner up team from 2019.

As I stated before, this is my 1st card of Jack. He's currently in the minors in the Rockies organization.

My 1st of Jesse Franklin as well. He's currently in the Braves organization. I actually got to watch them play some since they ended up in the college World Series as they played more of their games on TV.

You know why I love these, Michigan uniforms and the Block M. 2 must haves in my book.

I got my Sportlots package in the mail today and there will be more Michigan players with new PC's in the next round of posts.
