Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Not Joeless

Today was my last day for work this week. The plant shut down for the week because most of our customers were shut down. I managed to get some hours in so my check won't be too bad but while it's slow, it slows down my card buying. Luckily, I'm slow to post so I still have cards to post.

Since I have the next couple of days off, I'm going to try to get more team lots done. I've been making team lots to sell or give away to the kids at the Plymouth show. Some of the lots are up to 200 cards, no duplicates, and we will sell them for a buck. They are all common cards so it's more a matter of getting rid of the cards. Each team has an 80's lot, a 90's lot, a 2000-2019 lot and a 2020-2022 lot. Minimum cards is 50 but most lots have between 100-200 cards. I wanted to get them done for the Plymouth show but that's on Saturday and I'm only on the Dodgers in alphabetical order.

Today's post isn't the former Wolverine player post like we've been seeing lately. It's a former Sox, and a former Indian. Oh yeah, he was banned from the game.

I picked up these 4 from Sportlots. I have the Cracker Jack version from 1993 of that last card but this copy is from 1977, Dover reprint. The one next to it is a TCMA from 1983, the top 2 are newer. I'd love to have an OG Shoeless but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

These 4 give me 37 cards of Shoeless Joe.

Expelled

Speaking of the Diamond King (a post or 3 ago), he also sent me the following card of a PC that I don't get to add to very often.

It would be better if it didn't say expelled from baseball on it but I guess it's not really a secret. This is a Galasso Greats card and it puts my Shoeless Joe Collection at 33 cards.

Another day, the same photo

I've been working 10 hour days again so I haven't been on here too much.

I got excited when they broadcast the first few spring training games of the Sox thinking I'd be able to watch most of them but they've only played 1 since then. Our record sucks but any baseball is better than no baseball.

The Michigan basketball team is getting ready to ramp up for the Big Ten tourney and the big tourney so hopefully I'll get to watch a little more sports before the baseball regular season starts.

Today's post is another player collection and another card that looks a lot like his other cards.

I've gotten a lot of recent Shoeless cards from Panini and they all look a lot alike. A lot of them are the same pic with a little different background. I have at least 1 card from 2015 all the way to 2020 of the Panini Diamond Kings. All but one use the same picture above. This is my 31st card of Shoeless.

2 down, lots to come

This is the last post of cards that I have scanned. I have a bunch that I need to scan so this will be my last post until I get off my lazy ass and get to scanning. I have packages from Sportlots, 2x3 Heroes & Nachos Grande and I believe I have one coming from the BaseballCardStore so like I said, I have some scanning to do.

This last post is only 2 cards but both former Sox.

I got one lone Fisk card, only because I was looking for Sox A&G's and came across this one. I still needed it for my team set but it is a player collection as well. This is my 182nd card of Fisk and it leaves me 1 short on the 2019 A&G team set.

While I appreciate that Panini is putting out more cards of Shoeless (even though they mostly look the same), this is my 15th card from Panini since 2014, I only have 29 so over half of them are from them.

Singles

* I put my April incoming on random for today's post.

I just realized that I have 9 posts remaining with 8 days left in the month. I took to many evenings off apparently. So today's post came up with a certain lefty but I only had 1 card of him. I figured I'd throw a couple of other guys up that I only have 1 card of. That'll knock off a couple of posts and get me back on track.

We'll start off with the aforementioned lefty. I really do like this insert set from 2020. I paid the minimum on Sportlots for this, $.18. Speaking of 18, this card is number 118 of Steve Carlton in my collection.

My cousin sent me another of Shoeless, I think I've gotten over half that collection from him. 13 of him since last year and I only have 28 of his cards to begin with. I believe I have the base card of this but this is the red framed version.

Last but not least, my cousin sent me one lone Konerko that I didn't have with this Fleer Box Score. It was kind of a cool set if you can score one the cards with an actual box score on it but I think I only have one. This card put that collection at 479 cards. I need to go pick up some more and hit that 500 mark.

Sportlots - Tier 2 PC's, part 3

Today, we have the last of the Tier 2 baseball PC's. Tomorrow we'll start with the Tier 2 Michigan PC's.

Basically as of now, what I'm doing is going on Sportlots every weekend and spending about $5. Towards the end of the month, I have them shipped to me and then I have cards to post for the following month.

I was on there today, I specifically looked for a couple of 1985 Topps because that set is almost finished and then I wanted to search for other stuff but it is extremely hard to search for anything unless you know what you want. I figured I'd look for some Sox or Michigan cards but you can't search by team so basically, I need to know exactly what I'm looking for before I search so I need to figure something out. I'm not sure what yet, but I'll figure something out. Player cards and set cards are easy, it's the team cards I need to work on.

I'm done with my bitching, here's today's cards.

*All of these cards were picked up for $.25/shipped on Sportlots.

Once again, another former Wolverine. I've had one on multiple posts in a row. A former Wolverines, a former Sox player and now a current Sox front office employee. I can't remember what he does off the top of my head but I think it has something to do with the minors, I could be wrong. These 2 cards make 29 for the Getz collection. I don't run across his cards to often.

I also managed 3 more Shoeless cards. His collection has gone up quite a bit in the last couple of months, I received 9 last year, and almost all of those were in the last couple of months. These 3 make 26 cards of Joe.

4 of those cards also go to the White Sox collection. The last Shoeless Joe is with Cleveland.

Shoeless Friday

I'm still waiting on my last Ebay package, if I don't get it tomorrow, then I'll start the process of getting a refund and a sportslots seller can have my money. I purchased another 20 something cards today and had them sent to my box. After it gets there, I'll have 4 packages there. I think I'm going to have it ship next week so I'll probably add another package or so to it.

As I mentioned in my last post, I'm going to show some cards that my cousin sent me. I planned on posting a few times a week but I'm so old now that I usually nap after work which leaves me less time to work on cards. I really should go to bed earlier so I don't need the naps.

Here's the other player collection that he has probably about doubled with his last 2 packages.

These Panini Diamond Kings are kind of tough sometimes to figure out what year it is since they've used the same photo multiple times. I believe this is from 2017.

Everything else left of Shoeless Joe are all 2019 Panini. This one is from the Leather & Lumber set. I like it, it's different and it's a die cut.

This one is from the Diamond Kings set but it's an insert set labeled 1919.

These last 2 are from the Joe Jackson insert set, also part of the Diamond Kings set. There are 5 total cards, including the checklist in this set, Sluggo sent me the other 3 in his last package so I now have the final 2 to the insert set.

These 5 cards put the Shoeless Joe Jackson Collection at 22 cards. It was only at 15 cards this year until the last couple of months. I only picked up 1 or 2 cards every year since 2013 until this year where I've gotten 8 of them, 7 came from  Sluggo in his last 2 packages.

February Additions - Luis Aparicio and Shoeless Joe Collections

This months pick-ups come from
  1. Jimmy at S.Mack Talk
  2. Ray at All Cardinals All the Time
  3. Sluggo (my cousin)
  4. JustCommons.com
  5. COMC.com
  6. LCS - Media Madhouse
  7. LCS - Just Cards
  8. Ebay
  9. Packs

I've randomed and todays selection are going to the Luis Aparicio Collection and the Shoeless Joe Jackson Collection.

2006 Topps Turkey Red ($.23)
2015 Topps Archives ($.15)
2015 Panini Golden Age ($.60)
Picked up 2 Aparicio's, those were the only ones under $1 that I didn't have. I actually picked up a 1974 Topps as well but come to find out, I already had it so it's going to the Vintage Collection. Also managed to pick up one of Shoeless Joe of whom I rarely get to pick up cards for.

1994 Yoo-Hoo Rawlings Gold Gloves ($.40)
I really didn't think I'd win this. I'm not sure how popular or readily available they are but I haven't seen very many of them so I expected to get outbid on it. I was pleasantly surprised to win it.

The 3 Aparicio's put that collection at 83 cards and the Shoeless Joe card put that one at 10 cards.

New Additions - Abbott, Bench, Buehrle, Carter, Hart and Jackson

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise noted) and all were under $.50/shipped.

I'm listing Ebay stuff but also I got an awesome package from Dennis over at "Too Many Verlanders" and my favorite "Too Many Manninghams", although you'll see a lot of that great stuff on the TMM blog whenever I get that post together. I also received 2 huge packages of mainly White Sox cards from Jeff over at "2 x 3 Heroes" as well and both guys also sent a bunch of vintage. I'm also randomizing the posts so let's see what's next.

Today's post features multiple players because I didn't get very many of them so I combined them. There are 6 different player collections represented today.

1992 Topps

1992 Upper Deck

2008 Press Pass Gridiron Graphs autograph

Not surprising that all 3 cards that Dennis sent me are all Michigan alumni. The Mike Hart was one of many Michigan autographs he sent me but you'll have to see those over at the TMM blog, whenever I get around to posting it.

2004 Upper Deck MVP Batter Up!

2004 Donruss Elite

2010 Bowman Gold

The Johnny Bench was a surprise because I get lots of White Sox cards from Jeff because he's a fellow White Sox collector, but on the other hand, Jeff does a pretty good job of hitting a lot of my different collections. I thought I had the 2004 Donruss Elite but I had the Extra Edition version of it.

2015 Topps Ar-che-types

1990 Topps (turn back the clock)

1992 Upper Deck

2014 Panini Classics

Nothing really exciting, it's always good to add to the Shoeless Joe collection because I only have 9 cards in that collection.

In case you're interested, the reason I pretty much always post pics of single cards is because of these 2 blogs that I use to store my cards. My Personal Collections and My Baseball Card Obsession.

PC Additions - Getz, Jackson, Melton & Sale

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise said) and all were under $.50/shipped.

*Since I made a huge purchase (147 cards) from JustCommons.com, I'm going to combine them with my Ebay purchases for the next couple of weeks.  I bought the cheapest cards of my player collections. I spent $2 on my tier 1 collections and $1 on the rest. I also picked up one relic card to make my purchase an even $25.

2013 Topps Gold

2010 Topps Heritage

2011 Topps

2014 Topps

2008 Just Minors

2008 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Gold

1989 Pacific Legends

1970 Topps

2014 Pinnacle

2013 Bowman

2013 Topps Update

2014 Bowman
Chris Getz - One of the many ex-Michigan, ex-White Sox players. These 6 cards get my Getz collection up to 24. His is one of those collections that I was looking to boost from Just Commons because I don't come across many of his cards of Ebay.

Shoeless Joe Jackson - Another player I was hoping to boost but didn't come across anything but this card cheap enough for my parameters. the Shoeless collection is now at 8 cards.

Bill Melton - Another guy that I couldn't come across any cheap ones. Mainly because he wasn't enough of a star player to warrant current cards so everything of his is vintage so I only got the 1. It brings the Bill Melton collection to 11 cards. 10 of those are vintage and 1 is from a Chicago White Sox playing cards deck.

Chris Sale - He's getting harder to collect since he's a bonafide star now. I did manage to grab these 4 cards to bring his collection up to 72 cards.
