1970's Saturday

This is the last Vintage post for this round but I still have quite a few posts left. I finally got my last box of cards from Sportlots logged in today. I still have to scan but I'm hoping to get it done tomorrow. I'm buying so many cards now it's tough keeping up with the posting. I debate to just not post everything here but then I feel like I might not post something somebody wants to see. I know my stuff isn't anything special but sometimes I feel like that's what makes my blog different.

I added 2 more to the 1979 set at $.18/each. These 2 give me 404 cards.

As much as I like vintage, these are some pretty boring shots. I picked up these 6 from 1977, also for $.18/each. They give me 242 cards.

I also grabbed a couple of 1975's but I paid a quarter each for them. They give me 99 cards which puts me at an even 15%. Long ways to go which is why I didn't mind paying $.25. Plus, you know, a quarter for vintage is still good.

3 more for the 1974 Topps set. All $.18 again and they put me at 307 cards.

Last but not least, I picked up 4 more for the 1970 set. These 4 only get me at 77 cards for that set. All but the Joe Lahoud card were $.18, Joe was a quarter.

While I still love vintage, there is a whole lot of boring photos going on up there.

Topping the budget off

Look who finally got his cards scanned. I spent my one day off yesterday trying to get caught up so I can get back to posting again.

Today's post are random pick-ups for the Vintage collection. Once I get close to my budget, I go and look and how many cards I'm getting from each seller. I always go up to 4 cards on each to make it worth their while. Except one seller, I always buy just 1 card. He has free shipping for the first card, then for 2-4 cards he charges $1. Most people bump it up a quarter or so, not from $0 to $1. I specifically look for cheap shipping because I include that in my budget so while I realize a buck isn't much, it's too rich for my blood.

Anyways, when I check the sellers page to find a card or 2, it always shows the oldest cards first so I'll glance at it and see if any are $.18. That's pretty much what these cards are.

This one is easy to see at $.18. At first I thought it wasn't part of the set because of the number 2 at the bottom right so I though it wasn't part of the 660 but after looking at the checklist on TCDB, the players stop at 653 followed by the card of the puzzle and 6 checklists. This checklist gives me 62 cards from the 1985 Donruss set.

After checking all the sellers and having enough cards, this guy had a bunch of 1981 Donruss at $.18 so I grabbed the first 11 that I needed and put myself right at the budget. These 11 give me 101 cards for that set.

I was really surprised to see a seller have this at $.18 so I definitely scooped it up. Can't beat a 70's card, let alone a 1970 card for that cheap. He had it marked that it wasn't in good condition (I don't remember where he had it rated) but as you can see, it really isn't bad at all. This card is my 70th from 1970 set from the decade of the 70's. Sorry!

Vintage Sox

Hey, we finally randomed up a non-vintage post. Well, not really. It did come up White Sox so these are for the team collection.

This is the one lone card for the White Sox collection from the Facebook lot. I actually got a bunch but I already had all the others.

I did manage to find a bunch of '77 cards of the Sox from Sportlots though. All of the above were $.18/each. These actually complete the Sox team as far as the individual cards go but I still need a few others that have a Sox player on them.

These would be 2 of them. They were a little more at $.43 and $.50 but still in range. After purchasing them all and logging them into TCDB, I realized I was only 1 more card short of having all the Sox cards from that set. So I'm going to have to go pick it up for next month.

Lotsa Sox

Just a quick post as I waited to long to start this. I was watching the White Sox finally win a game.

Speaking of the Sox, that's what this post is of. It's nice that the random waited until they at least won a game before popping them up.

I picked up all of the above on Sportlots. With all of those 1977 Topps, I'm only 1 card short of the team set so I'll be looking to add that soon.

These 2 came from a free giveaway at "A Penny Sleeve for your Thoughts." I claimed both of these from his Free Stuff Fridays awhile back.

Fuji of "the Chronicles of Fuji" sent these along with the few other cards that I showed earlier in the month. 4 Magglio's give me 148 cards of his.

These cards and the 1 below all came from Dennis of "Too Many Verlanders." The 4 cards of Frank Thomas (and the 1 from Fuji) gives me 534 cards of his.

Dennis also sent me this autograph. It's my first of his but he only has twenty cards according to TCDB so I'm guessing he never got too far. It's still a Sox auto though and that's all that matters.

New Additions - White Sox collection, 1970's

This round of cards have all been randomized, let's get to today's cards.

I picked up these 5 cards for the 1979 White Sox team set at Dougs, I mentioned before he mainly had vintage but it was a lot of 1975's and 1979's and I've already finished the 1975 team set. These 5 cards bring the 1979 team set to still needing 12 cards.

Kyle must have sensed me picking up some 1979's because he sent me 4 more and that takes the team set down to 8. I guess I should have titled the post 1979's instead of 1970's.
