Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Back in the day

So after our loss on Friday night, I have to rely on basketball to get my Michigan fix. Luckily, basketball is on tonight. Both men and women's so I'll have a couple of games to watch. It's a rarity to be able to watch the women's team as they don't put them on TV too often but they are pretty good this year and I believe, ranked in the top 10. We won't talk about the men's team.

Today's post is one of my more popular collections as in not too many people care for my White Sox or Michigan and that's what the majority of my collections are. But not today, today is Vintage!

All these came from baseballcardstore.ca. I had some money left over from a card show and figured I'd make a purchase there. Their cards are now a nickel which was great, but that's because they raised their shipping rates so after all was said and done, they all ended up costing me a dime a piece anyways. I checked some of the sets that I was close to finishing just to see what I needed. The 1981 Fleer set is now 78.9% completed. The 1982 Donruss set is now 80% complete. The 1986 Donruss set is now 91.5% complete, I only need 56 more. The 1987 Donruss set is now 75.9% complete.

All but the last card, were extra from Sportlots. As in, I picked them up from sellers that I was already buying cards from so I added these while I was still in the shipping range I was in.

These 2 only give me 77 cards from the 1983 Donruss set.

You already know where this set is from the top cards.

These 2 from 1978 Topps give me 184 cards.

These 4 from the 1977 Topps set give me 261 cards.

This 1974 Topps puts me at 311 cards.

This 1971 Topps give me 118 cards.

This 1963 Topps gives me 15 cards.

I picked these up from the same seller. When I saw a bunch of 1960 Topps for $.30/each I jumped on them.  They were listed as the same grade as most of the other cards above but as you can tell, they are a little more worse for the wear. I'll keep them and if I ever get close to completing it (probably never), I'll upgrade some of them. These 22 cards give me 70 cards from this set.

This 1959 Topps didn't come from Sportslots though, it came from Dennis at Too Many Verlanders. He sent me a huge Christmas package and while this is technically a White Sox collection card, I had to show it on the vintage post too because it's a true vintage card.

Back to the Sportslots cards, I picked up this 1958 Topps, it's my 22nd card from that set.

Lastly, I picked up this 1955 Bowman. It's only my 5th card from that set so I have a long ways to go.

Even though I've been buying a ton of player collection on Sportslots, I've been picking off quite a bit of Vintage as well. One of my fears of searching player collections is that it will leave my other ones bare but I've been picking up vintage here and there and my team collections I've been grabbing at shows so it's worked out.

Snowy Saturday Mail Day

I got 9 cards today in the mail, all in one envelope. I picked these 80's cards for the Vintage Collection

1987 Topps
Nothing real exciting here but it is the set I'm closest to finishing. I got this for $.12/shipped and it brings the 1987 Topps set to 87% completed.

1987 Donruss
Again, another not so exciting card but it is a pretty cool action shot of a bunt. I grabbed this for $.15/shipped. It puts the 1987 Donruss set at 34% completed.

1986 Donruss
Now were getting a little better, yes, it is an 1986 but it's a Donruss which I didn't have much of. Now I do though as this set is at 71% completed with this addition. I picked it up for $.15/shipped as well.

1984 Topps
Now were getting a little older (do you see the pattern). I picked up this 1984 Topps card for $.22/shipped.

1984 Topps
Another 1984 Topps, not sure I remember ever seeing this one before. I picked it up for $.15/shipped.

1984 Topps
What? Another 1984 Topps? Yep, The last of that set I promise. This one actually goes towards 2 collections as half the card makes it a White Sox Collection card as well. This card was $.12/shipped and those 3 cards put that set at 32% completed.

1982 Topps
Just a touch older but I have far less of this set as this card only puts it at 9% completed. This card came to me for $.16/shipped.

1981 Fleer
The last set featured today starts with this 1981 Fleer that I got for $.12/shipped.

1981 Fleer
Last but not least, my most expensive card, and it's a checklist. Go figure. I picked this up for $.25/shipped and those last 2 cards put the 1981 Fleer set at just under 7% completed.

Newest Additions - Vintage Collection (1980-1981)

I have randomed them and let's see what we got (unless you peeked at the title.) Sorry if a few are blurry, I didn't realize it when I edited them and I wasn't going to go back, find the cards and take new photos.

Vintage Collection (1980-1981)

2 by 3 Heroes

Jeff sent these 6 from the 1980 Topps set which is the year before I started collecting so in my mind, this is truly the last year of "vintage" cards for me, even though my vintage collection goes to 1987. These 6 put that set at 105 cards and almost 15% completed.

Jeff sent me these 5 for the 1981 Fleer set. If you read up there then you know 1981 was when I first started collecting. I had a crap load of Topps, some Donruss but very few 1981 Fleer. Later in life I believe I owned the whole set but way back then they were hard to find in my area. These 5 cards put that set at 40 cards which is just over 6% completed.

I even picked up this lone 1981 Topps card out of a dime box. This card puts that set at 534 cards which is 73.5% completed.

Be sure to check out my other 2 card blogs as well.

Just like it says, photos of baseball cards. The "Blog" currently sits at over 4400 cards featured and I add more weekly.

This "Blog" has photos of the cards from my PC's. I have all the cards that were featured on this blog over here and will be working on adding all of my cards.

Everything from current to vintage sports pictures, baseball cards and more.
