Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Birth Year

I occasionally go to Sportlots to search for sets that I'm close to completing and grabbing some cards. I'm not as close as I like on this set but it was the first set I actively purchased cards for, before I was doing the whole Vintage collection, so I went and grabbed some. I found a lot more on the cheap than I thought I would.

18 of these 21 cards were only $.18/each. Obviously I didn't choose from the Mint cards but as you can see, most of those cards aren't bad at all. I'll certainly take them.

These 21 and the Mets team card you saw last week puts my birth year set at exactly 500 cards which is good for just over 75% complete. The majority of those are high numbers so I'm going to have to start dropping a little more money to start completing this set.

January Pick-Ups - Vintage Collection (1977-1979)

This months pick-ups come from
  1. Dennis at "Too Many Verlanders" and "Too Many Manninghams"
  2. Sluggo (my cousin)
  3. Ebay
  4. Packs (I actually bought some packs)

I've randomed and todays selections are going to the Vintage Collection

1977 Topps

1977 Topps
1977 Topps
1978 Topps
1978 Topps
1978 Topps
1978 Topps
1979 Topps
That is an awesome array of players to be included to the vintage collection. I realize they are not high dollar cards but look at some of those names.

1977 Topps ($.54)
1977 Topps ($.50)
1978 Topps ($.40)
1978 Topps ($.52)
1978 Topps ($.25)
The above cards put the 1977 Topps set at 63 cards (9.55%), the 1978 Topps set at 92 cards (12.67%) and the 1979 Topps set at 67 cards (9.23%). A long way to go in all 3 sets but it's not like I expected to finish this in the next 10 years or so. That was part of the reason I started this collection, along with I love the cards, it's something I can work on the rest of my life.
