Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Criswell, with my Soul

Sometimes I wonder how many people actually get what I was thinking when I title my posts.

I guess we might as well stay with the last couple of posts.

Another former Michigan baseball player.

I picked up a couple of cards of Criswell on Sportlots. These 2 give me 6 cards of Jeff. I have the paper version of the Chrome and the 1991 Topps look-a-like is the Pro Debut.

Another Jeff

I went from a Packer on Sunday to a slacker on Monday because I didn't take any time to post.

The great random on the internet gave me todays post, another Tier 2 Michigan guy but a different sport than the last one. I think I had a post of him recently but I just added this one this past weekend as I added Bowman to Sportlots and came across this one.

I went back and I did a post of Jeff on August 5th, so less than 2 weeks ago. Which is why I only have 1, but then again, I only have 4 total of him. This is my 1st in a pro jersey, I have a Michigan uniform and the other 2 are USA cards. By the way, that pro team that he represents lost to the White Sox yesterday. Too bad he's still in the minors, I might have been able to watch him.

Thursday's with Jeff

Just a quick post as today's is only 1 card but he doesn't have very many yet. It's the best kind of card because it's also a Michigan collection card.

It's only my 4th card of Jeff, it came from Sluggo. I like the collegiate Prizm cards, mainly because they have a license so you get a true Michigan card and I will always love seeing the block M. This is my first Michigan card and my 3rd team out of 4 cards. The other's being Oakland and team USA.

I just looked and he's playing in the minors for Lansing. Back before the Cubs took over the local minor league team, Lansing used to come and play here. I could have gone and seen him play.

2 days

The Michigan baseball team squeeked into the playoffs and got seeded in South Bend at Notre Dame. Guess who lives near South Bend and has tickets to go see them on Friday night? Yep, this guy. I'm hoping ND and Michigan both win on Friday so they match up on Saturday. I'm pretty hyped to go to my first Michigan baseball game. 2 days!!!

Fittingly enough, today's random popped up with some former Wolverine baseball players. I picked up 1 card each of 5 different players. Some of them are even new collections.

We'll start off with Tommy Henry. This is my 4th card of his. This is a Heritage minors card which he still is in the minors. I don't see any MLB stats for him so maybe he'll get a fall call-up. He is in the DBacks organization.

Same goes for Jeff Criswell as he is still in the minors as well. The difference is, I only have 3 cards of his but this my first pro card as the other 2 are USA cards.

I also picked up another Jesse Franklin card and as with Criswell, this is my first pro card. The other one is a Wolverines uniform card. In case you haven't guessed it, I have 2 cards of Jesse.

Now on to the new player collections.

I picked up my first card of Jorgan Nwogu. I actually got to see him (and the next player) play (on TV) because Michigan made the college World Series in 2019 so they actually broadcasted quite a few of their games on TV.

Jordan was on that 2019 team as well and was the Big Ten player of the year that year. This is a Heritage Minors card as well and he is in the Astros organization.

New PC Month Continues

We seem to be on a roll with new PC posts so the great random in the sky decided to give you another. Only this time, it won't be of the White Sox variety.

Jeff Criswell pitched for the Wolverines up until this past year when he was drafted, he is in the minors with Oakland. According to TCDB, he only has 54 cards and it looks like the majority of those are from his stint with the USA team so it looks like his PC will start with those. The top 2 look like dupes, front and back, I purchased them both, one was listed as a retail version but they look exactly the same to me. They have them listed separately on TCDB as well so who knows. I paid $.18 for both of those and $.35 for the Longevity parallel.

Jake Cronenworth came out of the U of M in 2015 and has been working his way through the minors. He's now with the Padres and just won the Rookie of the Month for the NL last month so I'm guessing he'll start to get more cards produced other than the 37 that TCDB have him listed with. I paid $.30 for the black refractor and $.18 for the other 2.

Now on to the football start up collections. This is my first card of the former Wolverines safety. He gets decent playing time with Jacksonville as far as I can tell. I paid a little more than usual on this card. A penny more, it was $.19. He only has 14 cards on TCDB so I guess I'm lucky to find at least one.

I grabbed these photos from TCDB because apparently I forgot to scan them. My guess is I scanned them but they got deleted between transferring them from my phone to my laptop. Either way, these 3 cards are the first of his collection. It lists 137 cards on TCDB but it's basically 3 sets with a crap ton of parallels. I paid $.18 for the Donruss look a like, a quarter for the Score and $.50 for the Crown Royal, really like the die cut on those. His cards are all 2020's so maybe he'll get some more produced in the future.
