Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Canadian Shooter

My cousin and I are planning on going to a couple of shows on Labor Day weekend and maybe even doing a show in late September. We'll see. It's exciting to be more involved with cards than just my collections but I have a lot to learn because I've been so focused on my own collections and not what else is going on in the card world so I'm a little lost there.

Speaking of my collections, today, you get another Michigan guy and another sport. I think the last couple have been football and baseball so guess what you're getting today.

I'm pretty sure those 2 cards on the right are the same picture, just the Prestige is zoomed in more. I got these 4 in my first package from Sportlots.

I got these 2 in the 2nd package. You know the Michigan one is my fave.

These 6 cards give me 31 cards of Sauce Castillo. It doesn't sound like a lot but in my basketball PC's, he's in 4th place.

Basketball after a sweep

I haven't posted in 3 days, shame on me! I know that's nothing to some of you but I know myself, if I stop for too long, I don't start back up. Then I just get behind on everything and it becomes work. While I try keep myself on somewhat of a schedule, it doesn't feel like work unless I start getting behind.

It's been a busy few days though so it's not like I've been slacking. My cousin, Sluggo as regular readers know him, moved up here from NC. He's the one person in my family that collects cards so I actually can talk to someone live, about cards. I hardly have anyone around me likes baseball, let alone, cards so it's nice to have both.

The Sox just swept the Orioles which puts up 3.5 games in the division going into Cleveland (who's in 2nd). Cleveland played a double header today and tomorrow they have another double header against us. That's gotta suck for them.

Today's post isn't even baseball related so that should narrow down to which collections these are. I picked these up in my latest round of Sportlots purchases, which I'll be shipping my next round in a few days.

I picked up a few of Mitch McGary. I don't think I need to tell you which one of the above is my favorite.

Also grabbed 2 versions of this Panini Prizm. The Red & Yellow is pretty cool looking. Only paid $.50 for it. These 5 cards of McGary give me 25 of him.

Grabbed some more of Sauce Castillo as well. 2 parallels up there.

And a couple parallels up there. Along with a sorta look-a-like vintage Donruss card.

Speaking of parallels. I really enjoyed Nik when he played for us. He played hard and a lot of teams underestimated him so it was fun to watch him prove everybody wrong. These 8 cards give me 25 cards of Nik as well.

I also found 4 of the big brother Wagner. His little bro, Franz, is expected to be drafted 1st round this year. They say he's more talented than Moe but when Moe got hot, he was hard to stop. These 4 cards give me 12 cards of him.

Sauce Castillo

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

Today's purchases are of Sauce Castillo of some team in Spain. Doesn't sound like a player I would collect.

Ah, that seems better. I really like Stauskas at Michigan, when he got on fire, he could hit from anywhere. He's played for 5 different NBA teams since 2014 and is currently playing in Spain but he's still a Michigan man. These 3 cards give me 17 of the Canadian sharpshooter.

College Football Saturday

As you may, or may not know, Dennis and I got together to at the Big House for the Michigan game last weekend. He gave me a nice stack of cards in person since I saved him all that postage. Since I didn't get any cards in the mail today, I'll split it into 2 posts so they aren't to picture heavy.

Since it's college football Saturday, we'll start with the Wolverine cards.

Always like receiving cards of the Fab Five, they were the team that put Michigan on my personal map and started my love for the Wolverines.

All 3 of these guys had pretty good careers in the pros but they all started at Michigan. You should have heard of all these names before considering they have 33 years experience in the pros and Henne is still playing, well, still on a team.

You might have heard of this guy too. I love getting cards of him in the Maize and Blue. This is only my 5th of his and all are years after his draft in 2000.

Next we'll get into the player collection cards of former Wolverines.

This is my 6th card of Martin and is my 1st pro card. This is also the 1st card that I've gotten of his in the last 2 years so I was definitely happy to see a card of him.

This is my 9th card of Trey, almost in double digits. It's also the 1st card of his that I've received this year. I thought I would be able to pick his cards more quickly but they seem to be out of my price range.

This is my 8th card of Jake Butt. I expected him to have a pretty good pro career but in his 3rd season now, he has missed 2 of those with injuries.

This is only my 3rd card of Big Mo. I'm going to love him proving wrong all those idiots who passed on him in the first 4 rounds. He was a beast at Michigan.

These 2 cards of Stauskas give me 11 of the Canadian. I really like him when he played for Michigan.

These 2 cards make 7 of Wormley. Oddly enough, I started his collection off with 4 straight autographs and then the last 3 have been base cards.

These 3 cards make 43 card of Shoelace. I've been picking up his card pretty well this year, only had 2 last year and these 3 make 8 for this year. None of my pick-ups were as nice as that last one though. That is a sweet looking card.

That's it for this post, I do have another Michigan Man but you'll see his cards in tomorrows baseball packed post. Be sure to check out "Too Many Verlanders" and the better "Too Many Manninghams"

I posted, finally

I've been a slacker again, which is really pathetic since it's not like I type out a whole lot because, again, I'm a slacker. I'll get caught up, eventually. Starting with today.

I picked up this Stauskas for $.23/shipped. This is my 6th card of Stauskas, half of those being pro cards but this is the first with the Nets.

6 card Tuesday

I got 3 envelopes today with 6 cards. Although 4 of those were in one envelope. I grabbed 2 of the envelopes from the mail box and another came delivered to the door via UPS. I don't understand how people make money sending me cards that cost more then a stamp, let alone shipping UPS but whatever. I'm just glad someone is home when they come because who knows how long that small envelope will sit there unnoticed. Let's start with the 4 cards.

This seller had a ton of 1980 cards for sell and I didn't want to win a bunch of them because that would be expensive so I just bid on the White Sox cards that I needed. All these go towards the Vintage Collection and the White Sox Collection. The Sox team set is down to 6 cards. I paid a quarter/shipped for all of them.

I picked up this serial numbered (I know it's only a gold card) of Mark Buehrle. It came to me for $.20/shipped. It is the 191st card of his for that collection. I like the look of the gold cards in 2015.

Last but not least, I got this great deal. A Nik Stauskas autograph, #'d to /25, and I only paid $1.42/shipped. This is my first auto of his and I'm pumped to get it. I don't get very many player collection auto's or relics for under $3. This is only my 5th card of Stauskas.

Multi-Sport day

It's a Monday so it feels like a 4 card day, but let's mix it up. How about 2 baseball cards and 2 basketball cards. 2 player collections, 1 team collection and a vintage collection. Even throw in a relic card. Sounds exciting, let's get to it.

This is my 2nd Caris LeVert card all-together as well as the 2nd in the last couple of weeks. I picked this up for $.23/shipped. I'd like to get a LeVert in the Maize and Blue, both of them are in his pro uniform.

This is my 4th card of Nik Stauskas but unlike LaVert above, this is my 1st one in his pro uniform. I picked this one up for $.23/shipped as well, only it came in a 3 card lot with 2 other 76'ers that I don't need. Both of the above cards came from the same seller as well.

Now we're dropping it old school with a great pitcher in the 80's. I got this one for only $.14/shipped It is my 139th card of that set and my 111th card picked up for the vintage collection this year.

Last but not least, I got this 2005 Relic of Harold Baines for $2.49/shipped. I debated on bidding on that much because it's kind of a cheesy card but it is of Harold Baines so I said why not. This is the 67th card that I've picked up for the White Sox collection this year.

February Additions - Burke, Robinson, Funchess, Robinson, Hardaway and Stauskas

This months pick-ups come from
  1. Jimmy at S.Mack Talk
  2. Ray at All Cardinals All the Time
  3. Sluggo (my cousin)
  4. JustCommons.com
  5. COMC.com
  6. LCS - Media Madhouse
  7. LCS - Just Cards
  8. Ebay
  9. Packs

I've randomed and todays selection are going to multiple players collections.

2015-16 Panini Contenders Draft Picks Old School Colors ($.75)
Really love the look of his card. I'm going to have to look and see if they have any more Michigan players in the Old School Colors set.

2013 Fleer Retro ($.49)

2013 Bowman Black ($.48)

2013 Bowman ($.35)
These 3 Denard cards put that collection at 24 cards. By far the biggest player collection since I went and added a bunch of Michigan alumni to my player collections. I'm pretty sure he's the only one in double digits of cards.
2015 Panini Contenders Draft Picks Game Day Tickets ($.52)

2015 Panini Prizm Collegiate Draft Picks ($.75)
With his super bowl appearance and a couple of really good games in his rookie season this past year, his collection is gradually moving on up recently. These 2 cards put his collection at 7 cards. I picked up my first card of his at a card show in October and all the rest have come since the new year.
2014-15 Upper Deck Letterman ($.81)
2014-15 Upper Deck SPx ($.75)
These 2 cards only put this collection at 4 cards and they are all in the Maize and Blue so there's that at least.

2013-14 Fleer Retro 1992-93 Rookie Sensations Auto ($5.99)

2013-14 Upper Deck SP Authentic ($.75)

2013-14 Fleer Retro ($.49)
These 3 cards put his collection at 6 cards. I actually have a couple of pro cards of Hardaway jr since he had a decent rookie season. I haven't heard much from him this year but I don't really follow NBA much other than watching an occasional Bulls game. That is my first autograph card of his as well, even at $6 when I saw it, I wanted it since he was in the Maize and Blue.

2014-15 Upper Deck SPx Finite Rookies ($1.25)
I really don't run into any of his cards very much. This is only my 2nd card of his, both of the Maize and Blue variety.

2013-2014 NBA Hoops ($.50)
I did manage to get one card off of Ebay. This card (along with the top one) puts my Burke collection at 5 cards and a few of those are pro cards as well.
