Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Days of scanning

I decided since I'm home the next couple of weeks that I was going to try to get all the cards that I have that need scanned for TCDB. I went and checked and I needed 382 cards scanned, most of those front and back. All of my player collections are up to date because I add those photos when I get them but I always ignored the White Sox cards because I didn't want to have to search for each card that needed it. I have my Sox collection stored in a dresser so I would have to keep going back and forth between my desk and the dresser. I started that way, then I had an idea.

I pulled out a couple of chairs in storage and pulled the first drawer out of the dresser and put them on those and put the second drawer on the other side of my desk. So now, all I have to do is turn my chair and grab the card. The scanner is right above my laptop so I could do everything without leaving my chair. The binder on this side of my desk is my relics and the binder on the floor are my autographs as a lot of those need scanned.

I started this project yesterday and after today, I'm down to 303 cards so I made a little headway but it seems like a long way to go at this point. I'll hit it most every day I'm sure, at least the next couple as it's in the negatives temperature wise around here so I'm not going anywhere.

I also spent an hour or so this morning going through a Christmas package from Dennis at Too Many Verlanders. I got everything scanned and logged this morning, plus I had to scan a few of those for TCDB as well. As always, he sent a little bit of everything and those will get added to the posts list to random.

Today's post is one of those. It was going to be another one card post but Dennis added one to it.

I grabbed this while going through Sluggo's cards back in November.

This is the one Dennis sent me yesterday. A rookie card at that.

He hit me with 7 different player collections and both team collections, which he usually does. He also hit with me plenty of hits, including a Tier 1 PC.

These 2 cards give me 16 cards of Devin now. Slowly moving up and as you can tell by the 2 above, there are plenty of base cards that I need.

Opening Day

Well the Sox opener didn't bode well for us, it did for a couple of other bloggers out there who are also Michigan fans but I'm not naming names. Does Hendrik's get 2 blown saves for that game? I got home from work and it was in the 8th and we were up 3-1 so I figured I'd just finish watching the game. I should have known better. It was my fault. Tomorrow's game is on at 1 as well and I'm working until 1 so I promise not to watch it until it's over.

Today's another 1 card post of a current Pittsburgh Steeler where 3 other Michigan men are playing.

This is an insert from Prestige, it's not bad looking, it's a little shiny with the team colors but nothing too flashy. This is my 14th card of Bush.

Lots of defense to no defense

I'm currently watching the Michigan/Minnesota game and the Gophers are slowly pulling away so I figured why not post on the blog to make myself feel better. While these are basketball cards, they are former Wolverines.

I only have 1 card to show of Devin Bush because I had a few scans saved but realized I already posted the others so this is the only one left. I grabbed this from Sluggo while going through the NFL cards in my basement. This is my 13th card of Bush.

The first scan of Rashan Gary are my latest from Sportlots. A couple of Wolverine cards along with a bunch of pro. It was nice to get this many because I hadn't come across a ton when I looked for him earlier in the year.

These 3 were more pick-ups from Sluggo. While the majority of the boxes in my basement are from the 90's, there were some newer stuff mixed in there which is where these all come in.

I picked up this red parallel of XR at the card show in Kalamazoo. As you can see, it's numbered so I probably payed a buck for it.

I also managed to pick up an autograph of Rashan at my LCS. He gave it to me for a couple of bucks because he never heard of him. Works for me. It's my 2nd auto of him, both are Prizm but along with this one, I have the draft picks set auto as well.

These 12 cards bump of my Gary collection to 17 cards.

A top row of Wolverines followed by some Raiders gear of big Moe Hurst. These 7 cards were in the latest shipment from Sportlots.

I also picked up this shiny card of Moe at the card show in Kalamazoo.

I also picked this auto at Baseball Card Exchange. We all know I'm not a big fan of these cards, no uniform of any kind if just cheap looking but it's an auto, and I needed it. Plus, it's my first auto of his.

These 9 cards put me at 20 cards of Hurst.

Now that I'm done with this post, I've realized 2 things. All of these players are defensive players and the Michigan basketball team had no defense tonight. Sigh!

One of Three Devin's

And back to football. Guess it's fitting since the Sox season is over. This guy is one of many former Wolverines on the Steelers. I don't know how many actually but I know there's a few there. This player also shares a first name with a couple of other player collections.

I picked up these 6 from Sportlots. I picked these up in July because as I have said before, I'm a slacker and hadn't posted them yet. I haven't added any Bush cards since September of 2020 either so at least that's getting together.

I grabbed these from Sluggo, it's always nice to grab another Wolverine card.

These 8 cards, once again, more than double my Devin Bush collection. You can see why I like the Sportlots purchases. I should probably get back on there and stop spending my budget at card shows. I have 13 cards of Bush now.

Quick post

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

Another 1 card day and another former Wolverine. Just a quick post as I'm pretty tired just from being on my feet today. Considering most days for the last month, I've had less than 1000 steps and today I had over 11,000. I'm pooped.

This is another 1st card of a new player collection. I haven't really found a whole lot of his cards in my price range so it was nice to grab this at $.50.

Sorry, but this week I have been slacking.  When I did take the time to find photos, I just didn’t really run across a lot of what I like to post.  So today is a condensed version of our usual posts.
