Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

A Sox, Dodger, and an Indian?

Baseball is back, sort of. The White Sox already have a couple of positive cases. It's going to be such a weird season, if we make it all the way and by that, I mean baseball makes it to the end of the season, not the Sox winning it all.

Do I think they should be out there? No. Is that going to stop me from watching? Hell No! Even though I watched a ton of replays from the 2005 season, I still miss baseball and like I said, I really wanted to see this team play.

Speaking of the 2005 team, today's post features one of those players.

I picked up all these of Paulie at the baseballcardstore.ca (virtual dime box). As I stated before, in a previous post, with shipping it equaled out to $.20/each. I hate spending any money on those UD Documentary cards. I like the idea of the set, although it's a huge set, just not the fact that they reuse the same pics all the time. You see the 5 up there that are all the same. I'm pretty sure I already had a few of them and yes, with the same pic.

Dennis (Too Many Verlanders) sent me these 2 Paulie's, wait a minute. That's not a Konerko card. I got this and just assumed he through it in because Thome played for the Sox and he didn't catch it. Then I flipped it over to get the card number and it all made sense.

That's much better. I always like to see Paulie in pre-White Sox days. Although I prefer him in the Red uni's just because they are more rare but I don't mind him in the Dodger blue either. Especially since I know how his career turned out.

All of these Konerko cards put me at 491 unique cards so I'm going to have to go find a few more to hit that 500 mark. Although if you count dupes that stay in my collection (dupes of auto's, relics and seriel numbered cards), I have 500. I still want to hit the unique count though.

Random PC Cards

It's been a slow week over here, I've got some Ebay winnings coming but with the mail shut down for a couple of days and such, I just haven't gotten much in the mail so I figured I'd take the time for a random post. I'm also thinking if I ever get finished putting my cards on the Trading Card Database, I believe they have a random button and these posts might get easier.

It was just coincidence that Ty Law came up a day after he was announced as part of the 2019 Hall of Fame class, a pretty cool coincidence, but still a coincidence.

I got to plug 2 guys that send me cards even when they know I have no cards to send back, and I even got to plug both of Dennis' blogs. In also doing this post, I decided to go back and do my random card posts on Twitter, when I remember that is.

Newest Additions - White Sox Collection

I have randomed them and let's see what we got (unless you peeked at the title.) Sorry if a few are blurry, I didn't realize it when I edited them and I wasn't going to go back, find the cards and take new photos.

White Sox Collection

The last of my White Sox Collections posts from the card show. Grabbed all of these from dime boxes as well. I really liked the green Peavy and all of the red Turkey Red's.

Be sure to check out my other 2 card blogs as well.

Just like it says, photos of baseball cards. The "Blog" currently sits at over 4900 cards featured and I add more weekly.

This "Blog" has photos of the cards from my PC's. I have all the cards that were featured on this blog over here and will be working on adding all of my cards.

Everything from current to vintage sports pictures, baseball cards and more.

Sox from a Tiger fan

I received a PWE from Dennis over at “Too Many Verlanders” and his best blog “Too Many Manninghams”.  This was a nice surprise because he knows I’m not really buying any cards other than pc stuff and don’t really trade anymore so when guys like Dennis send me a PWE, they do it with the understanding that they probably won’t get anything back, or at least not for some time.  Which makes me appreciate the packages even more.  But enough chatting, let’s check out what he sent me.

John Danks

John Danks – 2013 Topps #150

The only Chicago White Sox of the package that’s still with the team.  Although 2 of the other 3 are retired so there’s that.  He’s struggled the last few years but as of right now, he’s over .500 for the first time since 2010.

Carlos Quentin

Carlos Quentin – 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom #128

This would be the 1 guy still playing, although he’s with the San Diego Padres now.  I liked him with the Sox but he struggled to stay on the field because of injuries.

Jermaine Dye

Jermaine Dye – 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom #69

Our 2005 World Series MVP.  The picture is of the perforated edition but Dennis sent me the base card.  COMC didn’t have that one listed so I used this one.

Jim Thome

Jim Thome – 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom perforated #189

This one is actually the perforated card.  I said he was no longer on the Sox but I do believe he is in the system somewhere, I want to say in the front office.

To see the rest of the cards he sent me, check them out here.

Big thanks to Dennis for the cards.  Be sure to check him out at Too Many Verlanders and check out the rest of the cards he sent me at Too Many Manninghams.

The blog sat for most of the week so not too much to post today.

Jim Thome – 2009 Upper Deck Spectrum swatches relic #SS-JT

Jim Thome is an all around great guy and he is now working in the front office so I expect that eventually he’ll end up as a hitting coach or something.  I like these spectrum cards, although you can’t see it in the scan, they are very shiny and with this card you get a hint of a pinstripe in there.

Vacation Pick-Ups #6–Autos and Relics

Even with all the awesome vintage I picked up (and you haven’t even seen it all), I did manage to find some cheap White Sox autos and relics.

nc01

I was pumped to get the Brent Lillibridge autograph.  I really liked him when he played for us.  He played everywhere and always gave 110%.  I have a few of Ryan Meaux autographs, I think he was supposed to be a stud at some point but never hit it big.

nc02

I grabbed thie Sergio Santos relic card because it has the vintage blue pinstripe jersey swatch.  I love the old jerseys.  And the Jim Thome relic because he was an all around good guy and it’s a pretty cool looking card.

Stay tuned tomorrow and I’ll start showing the Vacation Pick-Ups for the Vintage Collection.

Completed Team Sets–2007 Fleer

I finished this set awhile ago and am just not getting around to posting it.  I have some new stuff (2013) to scan, hopefully tomorrow.

completed-07fleer01

Action shots, team logo and player name, it has all my requirements for a good card.  No border would have made it better and I don’t know that I need to see the team name when the logo is on there.

completed-07fleer02

But it is a nice set, all in all.  No complaints really.
