Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Tom Seaver Collection

I’m always very happy to get some cards of Tom Seaver for under half a buck.  Most of his cards start higher than that.

This one is reprint, which is why I was able to get it for $.25.  I didn’t have it though, but I do now.

Tom Seaver

2010 Topps Cards Your Mom Threw Out

The following card was even cheaper since it was free.  I figured since it’s a Tom Seaver, I’d throw it on here as well.  Dennis from Too Many Verlanders and the awesome Too Many Manninghams sent me a PWE with this card and a couple of Indianapolis Colts cards.

Tom Seaver

1975 Topps Mini

He said he picked it up cheap at a card show.  It’s vintage, it’s mini and it’s Tom Seaver.  It’s pretty awesome.  Thanks Dennis.

Sox from a Tiger fan

I received a PWE from Dennis over at “Too Many Verlanders” and his best blog “Too Many Manninghams”.  This was a nice surprise because he knows I’m not really buying any cards other than pc stuff and don’t really trade anymore so when guys like Dennis send me a PWE, they do it with the understanding that they probably won’t get anything back, or at least not for some time.  Which makes me appreciate the packages even more.  But enough chatting, let’s check out what he sent me.

John Danks

John Danks – 2013 Topps #150

The only Chicago White Sox of the package that’s still with the team.  Although 2 of the other 3 are retired so there’s that.  He’s struggled the last few years but as of right now, he’s over .500 for the first time since 2010.

Carlos Quentin

Carlos Quentin – 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom #128

This would be the 1 guy still playing, although he’s with the San Diego Padres now.  I liked him with the Sox but he struggled to stay on the field because of injuries.

Jermaine Dye

Jermaine Dye – 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom #69

Our 2005 World Series MVP.  The picture is of the perforated edition but Dennis sent me the base card.  COMC didn’t have that one listed so I used this one.

Jim Thome

Jim Thome – 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom perforated #189

This one is actually the perforated card.  I said he was no longer on the Sox but I do believe he is in the system somewhere, I want to say in the front office.

To see the rest of the cards he sent me, check them out here.

Big thanks to Dennis for the cards.  Be sure to check him out at Too Many Verlanders and check out the rest of the cards he sent me at Too Many Manninghams.

Trade with Jeremy

Jeremy of “No One’s Going to Read This Blog” contacted me about a trade.  We traded some 73’s back and forth as we are both collecting the set.  Plus I hit his want lists (mostly White Sox cards).  And he sent me these.

trade-jeremy01

All these are new to the White Sox collection.  I was in a Gypsy Queen break and didn’t get the Moonshots Frank Thomas card so that was great to receive.  If these were not great enough he hit a player collection as well.

trade-jeremy02

I thought I already had this, but it was a different version.  Possibly a chrome version.  Always grateful for Manning cards because I never pick them up for myself.  I like him and the collection, I just don’t do much in football.

He also sent me this one, but the write up for that is over here,  But here’s a pic of the card anyways.

trade-jeremy03

I might be the only Colt fan who is also a Tom Brady fan but oh well, I can’t root against my Wolverines.

Thanks again Jeremy.  You’ll see the 1973 cards he sent as well if I ever get around to continuing my 1973 and 1981 Topps posts.

Weekly Catch-Up

I do these weekly on my other blog “Random Thoughts From a Random Guy”, figured I'd post them here to.  Why not, it’s my blog.  Feel free to check them all out.

Weekly Catch-Up

Laws Reviews

I blog mainly about new movies to me.  Also review other products here and there but it’s mostly movies.

Only watched 1 movie this week to review but it was a good one.  Watched the end of Meet Joe Black and all of Legends of the Fall on AMC today but I only review movies I haven’t seen.  I take that back, I watched a movie yesterday that I need to review.  But it wasn’t anything spectacular, contrary to what everyone is saying.

That’s it for the week.  As you can tell, I don’t Facebook a lot as far as posting stuff.  I posted maybe 2 or 3 other things, vids or pics, but that’s it.  While I’m on it multiple times a day, I don’t post much myself.

    Trade with Dennis, part 2.

    Previously:  part 1

As you may have noticed in part 1, Dennis overdid himself with the Wolverines he sent me.  Well he did with the baseball side too.  So sit back and enjoy part 2 of this 4 part trade with Dennis.  Yes, 4 parts, that’s how awesome the cards he sent me were.

    trade-dennis01

The Topps Gallery are some great looking cards.  The middle one of Frank Thomas is numbered to /50.  All these are new to the White Sox collection.  I didn’t have any of the Topps 205, let alone the mini one.  And the Konerko I already had in my player collection so that one goes to this collection.  And you can never go wrong with a Hall of Famer like Hoyt Wilhelm.

    trade-dennis07

Frank Thomas – 2012 Topps Manupatch

Sweet!  I’ve been looking for one of these, but I’m too much of a cheap bastard to pay for them.  Luckily, I got great friends.

    trade-dennis02

Jim Thome – 2009 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions relic

    trade-dennis04

Jim Thome – 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces Captured in Canvas relic

A couple relics of the nicest guy in the league.  And I, like the most of you, love the Masterpieces.  And the framed ones are even better.

    trade-dennis03

    Goose Gossage – 2011 Topps 60 relic

This card is great.  The uniform, a Hall of Famer, my first relic of his.  Awesome!

    trade-dennis05

    Jermaine Dye – 2008 Topps Moment’s & Milestones autograph

World Series MVP Jermaine Dye’s autograph.  And that’s not even the best auto in this lot from Dennis.

    trade-dennis06

Harold Baines - 2005 Topps Autograph

One of my favorite players for the Sox.  My favorite uniforms.  And an on card autograph.  I love this card.

Seriously, go back and look at each of these players that I got relics and auto’s of.  Hall of Famers, future Hall of Famers, World Series MVP, and one of the top Sox (who some argue is Hall of Fame worthy).

Dennis way overdid himself.  And there’s 2 more posts left.  Be sure to stick around and check them out.  Meanwhile, check out Dennis over at “Too Many Grandersons” and “Too Many Manninghams”.

I have more ebay pick-ups in the near future as well.

    Trade with Dennis

Dennis doesn’t believe in fair trading.  He likes to send huge box loads of cards, knowing I only have a few cards set aside for him.  Actually, Dennis knows I’m good for it because we’ve traded before and we email a bit with our interest in the Wolverines.  He had said he was going to send me a package so I expected the Wolverine auto’s he sent because we had discussed those before.  But he sent me a box full of Sox cards as well.  You’ll see those here, you’ll have to check out the Wolverine cards over at Dennis sight “Too Many Manninghams” which he lets me guest post there.

Like I said, he sent me a crap load of Sox cards.  I won’t go into all of those but I will show the Konerko cards.  There were about double these just in Konerko cards but I already had the others in my player collection.  But they will probably all be needed in the White Sox Collection.

    trade-dennis05

All these Konerko cards will go to the Konerko collection.  And I will be going through the rest of the box to find a huge amount of Sox cards to go to the team collection.

Thanks Dennis, above and beyond as always.  I’ll be looking out for some great cards for you.  Be sure to check out his blog “Too Many Grandersons” or Verlanders or whatever he’s calling it now.  Also check out his other blog “Too Many Manninghams” to see more of the package he sent me.  I’ll be posting it there right after this one gets posted.

    Trade with who?

In case you missed it, I am a guest blogger on Dennis’ new blog “Too Many Manninghams” so if you follow me for my Michigan content, you’ll need to head over there to view it.  So this blog will be strictly baseball now.  That should make a lot of you happy, less posts you have to skip.

I traded with someone, and that someone sent me some great cards, but I can’t thank that someone, because I don’t who that someone is.  I received the package, went through the cards, set them up above the scanner so I could scan them the next day, and then didn’t get around to it till a week later.  By then, I forgot who sent it.  But I’ll show the cards anyways.

    trade-anon01

Some oddballs of some White Sox greats.  Only one I had was the Tom Seaver, but I needed another one for the White Sox collection so that worked out great.  Great players, great cards.

    trade-anon02

Speaking of great players.  7 cards of one of the greatest players to wear a Sox uniform.  Big thanks to whoever you are.  If it makes you feel better, I keep better records now.  I learned my lesson.
