Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

New PC and a new Auto

Last Friday, as I do some Fridays, I went over to my LCS. Kevin has breakfast with his dad in the mornings and then he'll come by and pick me up and head out there. We generally hang out for awhile and talk and while we were doing that, I got bored and started looking at his dime and quarter boxes. I picked out a few things and then the owner told me that I could have whatever I pulled out of there for helping with the sorting. I stopped being picky after that I pulled whatever I wanted. Here's the haul.

As per the usual, we'll start with the White Sox cards and go to Tier 3, Tier 2 and Michigan.

I picked up these 6 Sox cards, all color parallels and an insert. That is only my 3rd card of Noah Schultz and my 49th of Madrigal. For someone who hasn't played for us in over a year, I still keep running into a lot of his cards. Those 2 Donruss of Ventura give me 186 of him and 272 of Jose Abreu.

On to Tier 3.

I haven't seen the insert before so that was definitely a good pick up and an orange parallel of Donruss. These 2 give me 241 of Bench.

There were a bunch of Ripken's but this was the only one I needed. It's kind of a cracked ice feel to it but it's from 1996 so way before they were a thing. This gives me 974 cards of Cal.

I also picked up these 3 of Strawberry, all newer cards. Most of my PC are his 80's and 90's cards so it's always nice to grab newer cards of him. These 3 give me 156 cards of him.

I even managed to get a couple of Yaz. I had never seen that particular combo card although I have seen them, just not that one. Also a parallel of 2023 Donruss. These 2 give me 185 cards of Yaz.

Next up is Tier 2.

I managed to get another color parallel of a Donruss. This is my 382nd card of Pudge.

Another Donruss color parallel. Plus another parallel and an insert of Eloy. The Gallery is a Printer Proof if you didn't catch that. These 3 cards of Eloy give me 208 cards of him.

And Tier 2 Michigan cards.

A Nico is the Maize and Blue, yes please. I've been picking up his cards pretty regularly now, this one gives me 65 cards of him.

I believe I read where Haskins was injured but I've been picking up his card pretty regularly as well. This rookie base is my 19th but as I said, a lot of those have been pretty recent.

2 more of Paye and 2 more for the Michigan collection. These 2 give me 47 cards of Kwity.

I just picked up my first card of Mazi so it's nice to already grab my 2nd. This one in the Michigan uniforms.

I also found my 2nd card of Clark Elliott not long after finding my first. This one, the LCS owner found and held for me and gave it to me when I got there.

I pick up Franz cards pretty consistently so it's nice to grab a couple of his big brother. I hadn't added any of his since April so these 2 were nice to see. They give me 36 cards of him.

It was really nice to grab this cards of Moussa Diabate because it's my 1st of him. That right, another PC. This gives me 131 different player collections.

While all of the above I got for sorting, I did purchase 1 card that Kevin saw and showed me.

When he showed me this, I knew I wanted it. I didn't have any autos of my favorite Sox pitcher. He had $15 on it but he said he'd take $10 so I coughed it up and gave it to him. I don't regret it. I love having an auto of Buehrle. While it's my 1st auto, it's my 385th card of Mr. Perfect.

Moe shiny

Just a quick post tonight of another current NBA'er that wore the Michigan colors.

I picked up both these parallels from Hollister at the card show in Shipshewana a couple of months ago.

This very shiny Optic Shock came from Sluggo. I don't remember if it was a freebie or one I payed for and I don't feel like looking.

These 3 cards give me 23 cards of Moe.

Wagner #1

I'm still posting in accordance to the PC that I haven't posted in the longest. That being said, today's post follows right along with yesterdays but it's the $1 card I picked up from Sluggo which means I get it for free.

This is the Hyper Pink version of Optic. I think my scanner put the purple on the border but it looks cool with a Lakers card. This is my 18th card of Moe, big brother to the current possible rookie of the year Franz.

It's Saturday

I couldn't really think of a title so you get what you get.

I'm watching the Michigan/IU game, which I was supposed to go to, but they waited until last Sunday to announce it was a 7:30 game. Part of the reason I selected the IU game before the season started was because I figured it wouldn't be a night game. Nope. Thanks FOX!

Back to basketball for this post, which should be starting soon, I even saw a commercial for opening night earlier today.

These 3 of Moe came from Sportlots. All NBA Hoops, Panini pulled a Topps and made a whole other set from another set by a slight change with the winter set.

This one I picked up at the Shipshewana card show awhile back in a dime box.

I would think we should start seeing cards of Moe's brother soon.

These 4 cards put his collection at 17 cards.

I'm gonna take a trip

My cousin and I are traveling tomorrow. Going to a hit a few card shops that are between an hour and two hours away. I doubt I buy anything as I'm a little budget strapped but I do like to visit card shops and get ideas for ours.

Today's is a former Wolverine basketball player which is fitting because it was announced yesterday that Hunter Dickinson will be back next year for Michigan. I'm not that excited about football yet this year so I'll take any good news I can get.

Only one pick up of the elder Wagner for under $.50. It has a colorful background at least, not sure if that makes it good or not. This card gives me 13 cards of Moe.

Basketball after a sweep

I haven't posted in 3 days, shame on me! I know that's nothing to some of you but I know myself, if I stop for too long, I don't start back up. Then I just get behind on everything and it becomes work. While I try keep myself on somewhat of a schedule, it doesn't feel like work unless I start getting behind.

It's been a busy few days though so it's not like I've been slacking. My cousin, Sluggo as regular readers know him, moved up here from NC. He's the one person in my family that collects cards so I actually can talk to someone live, about cards. I hardly have anyone around me likes baseball, let alone, cards so it's nice to have both.

The Sox just swept the Orioles which puts up 3.5 games in the division going into Cleveland (who's in 2nd). Cleveland played a double header today and tomorrow they have another double header against us. That's gotta suck for them.

Today's post isn't even baseball related so that should narrow down to which collections these are. I picked these up in my latest round of Sportlots purchases, which I'll be shipping my next round in a few days.

I picked up a few of Mitch McGary. I don't think I need to tell you which one of the above is my favorite.

Also grabbed 2 versions of this Panini Prizm. The Red & Yellow is pretty cool looking. Only paid $.50 for it. These 5 cards of McGary give me 25 of him.

Grabbed some more of Sauce Castillo as well. 2 parallels up there.

And a couple parallels up there. Along with a sorta look-a-like vintage Donruss card.

Speaking of parallels. I really enjoyed Nik when he played for us. He played hard and a lot of teams underestimated him so it was fun to watch him prove everybody wrong. These 8 cards give me 25 cards of Nik as well.

I also found 4 of the big brother Wagner. His little bro, Franz, is expected to be drafted 1st round this year. They say he's more talented than Moe but when Moe got hot, he was hard to stop. These 4 cards give me 12 cards of him.

Starting the week off right

I got 5 cards in 2 envelopes in the mail today. A nice start to the week.

I picked up another Ripken, my 452nd, which is my highest player collection. I paid $.47/shipped for this 2000 Upper Deck Legends card.

Another tier 2 collection card. This 2010 Topps insert came to me for $.43/shipped and is my 85th card of Johnny Bench.

I also grabbed 2 more Wagner cards, putting his collection at 9 cards. I paid $.26/shipped for the Prizm Freshman Phenoms and $.34/shipped for the Select. All 4 of the above cards came from the same seller.

Last but not least, I picked up this game-used bat from Upper Deck SP (2001) for $1.34/shipped which is a great deal. It is my 135th card of Mags and my 9th relic card of his. This card goes to the White Sox collection. Ordonez is my 3rd highest non player collection behind Frank Thomas and Chris Sale.

Catch Up Post

I've got some catching up to do. I bought a couple more cards over the weekend and then I got cards in the mail yesterday and today. This would be easier to keep up with if I would quit taking naps after work.

Sunday, my daughter took my debit card to go to Walmart to pick up something for us (I don't remember what now) so I told her to grab a couple more packs of 2019 Topps. Why the hell not? It was pretty much the same as the other couple, base and inserts. I needed 57 of the 68 cards, the rest were dupes. Also as what happened with the first couple packs, I got 2 White Sox cards.

Our super phenom rookie pitcher who's recovering from Tommy John surgery and our current starting shortstop.

Monday, I got 1 envelope but it had a bunch of cards in it

These 6 cards are all from 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks & Prospects. How much did I pay? Nada. They came with the following cards that I won. Now, I know sometimes you get freebies thrown in but those are some nice freebies. So nice, that I went to the sellers store and checked to see if he sold these to someone else and mixed up and sent them with my purchase but I didn't see them anywhere. I'll take them. They came with these cards.

These 2 cards of the former Knick now, Tim Hardaway Jr, came in a lot of 2, that I won for $2.25/shipped. So under $1.25 each plus all the freebies. Great purchase in my eyes.

Then today, I got 2 envelopes.

I got these 3 cards for $.06/each/shipped. Apparently the seller was getting rid of some Orioles cards. I also won a Ripken card but when I went to log it in, I already had it marked. Oops, guess I'm out the quarter it cost.

Last but not least, I got this card which is the start of the Moritz Wagner collection. I've bid on a bunch of his auto's but this was the first relic I saw, and won. I picked it up for $1.99/shipped.
