I'm here, just in time to get my last one out for the month. It's a big one too. Tomorrow is my surgery so I didn't want to leave this for the last day of the month. Thanks to all of you who wished me well on the last post. I assure you I'm in safe hands, my doc did graduate from the greatest public university in the world. That would be the University of Michigan for those who don't want to admit it.
There's quite a few of good managers listed up there. Cubs with their floating heads again, I could understand that now a days with social distancing and all. I don't think I knew Don Zimmer ever coached the Red Sox or that Tommy Lasorda did the Dodgers (kidding).
The top picture came from the Facebook purchase, all the others came from Sportlots. These 19 cards put the 1979 Topps set at 402 cards which is good for just over 55% completed.
I put in another order at the virtual dime store (baseballcardstore.ca) as well as had some of my cards shipped from Sportlots. Once those get here and I get them logged in and scanned, I'll start next months cards.
Welcome
This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Sportlots - Tier 3 PC's, part 3
My last post of Tier 3 player collections. Whichever sellers I purchased from must not have had any more for these player collections as I didn't get 3 of any of them.
Even though this post is about the Steve Carlton cards, they both go to the Vintage collection and the Fleer goes to the Mike Schmidt collection as well. These 2 cards put the Carlton collection at 111 cards.
I only picked up 1 Johnny Bench and it's a newer one, as new as you can get here as I don't have any 2020 cards yet. This card puts that collection at 93 cards.
I also picked up one card of Ryan Zimmerman, this is my 108th card of Zimmy.
Next post, we'll start hitting the tier 2 collections.

Sluggo - Vintage (50's)
Today is the last post of the Vintage that Sluggo sent me, then I'll start getting into my first Sportlots purchase. Let's see what Yankee, I mean, Vintage cards we got from the 50's.
We'll start with the 59's. I actually have to look up the 50's cards to see what year they are, I don't know them as well. These 2 give me 9 cards for that set and only 4 of those are White Sox cards.
I got 1 from 1955 Topps. It's only my 6th from that set and only 1 of those is a Sox card.
I even received a 1955 Bowman which are definitely rare to me. This is only my 4th with only one of those being a Sox card.
Last but not least, I got 4 cards for the 1953 Topps set. Guess how many cards I now have from that set? That's right, 4. These were the first 4 cards I have gotten from 1953 and according to TCDB, they are my oldest cards now.

Playing Harbaugh
It's been a nice week and a half for Michigan Men, I seem to be picking them up at a pretty good clip lately. Today is another Michigan man but technically, it doesn't really fit in to my collections, but I bought it anyways.
Pretty sure you all know him. I was thinking I had seen a photo of him throwing out the first pitch in a Michigan hat so I wonder if that Tigers hat isn't photo shopped. This is my first card of Harbaugh (which isn't surprising). I paid $.32/shipped which is sad since I've been trying to win one of these since 2016.

Sportscards.com
Ever heard of sportscards.com? I hadn't either until they contacted me. They wanted to send me free cards, who the hell would say no to that?
What are they? Well they plug their database which you can use to find listings on Ebay. It has all the filters and such so you can weed your stuff down, they also show sold listings which to me, if you want to know what your card is worth, what it's selling for is more realistic to me than a price in a magazine. The best thing for me is the save your search. Yes, I know Ebay has that but I also know I'm at my allotted saved searches so I can use this site to save some more.
They also sell those Subscription boxes that are everywhere now. Where you pay so much a month and they send you a box of cards. It sounds pretty basic but when you go to their site, they have 3 different price structures, all with different goodies in them according to price.
They also have Collector's boxes which are like the subscription boxes but you only get one and they are auctioned off so you may get them cheaper than you should. I counted 31 different boxes when I typed this up - To name a few - 1950's graded - Derek Jeter - Bronx Bombers - Golden Age - Autographs. You'll have to check them out as they all offer different things.
I don't remember if they asked which box I wanted or if they just sent me one. Either way, let's check it out.
Here's the box it came in. It was also wrapped in cellophane and once opened, everything in it had the gift wrap tissue paper so everything was packaged really well. I took pics of the cards inside the loaders they were sent in so you could see those as well.
A business card (a nice one, like a credit card) and the bottom card I assume comes in every box. Once you get 5, you get free stuff.
Also this, gotta plug your product. Let's get to the good stuff though. There were 3 unopened packs. We'll start with the 2018 Topps.
It says 10 cards, I got 11 including the insert. WooHoo, bonus. You can see the 10 to the right.
And the insert card. Out of the 11, 1 card goes to the White Sox Collection.
Next up is a pack of 2019 Topps, which I actually bought a blaster so we'll see how many new cards I got.
I only got 14 of 14 this time. Out of the 13 above, I already had 3, including the lone White Sox card. Here's the insert and said White Sox card.
Next up was a pack of 2017 Topps Heritage,
This is one of those 20 card packs and as you can see, I got 20 cards. I didn't get any inserts but you can see I got a high number short print up there. I also got one White Sox card.
That's all for the packs but there were also some single cards in there. As I said before, I took pics of them in their loader/cases that they came in so you can see how they were packed.
This was in a sealed case with the magnet to keep it closed. I was a little confused when I got it because the sticker has their name on it, but it says factory sealed. I was also confused by the back of the card.
Upon logging it into TCDB, I figured out that it's a 1994 Topps Finest Peel Demostrations. I don't know how they were distributed or if it's actually factory sealed but at least I know what it is now.
Since we're going with cards that confused me, this one really did. It looks like one of those cards where they add a signature off of something else they signed, like a check or contract. Only, there's no signature. Here's the paragraph on the back.
Yeah, so, I have no idea since it says SAMPLE on it. It has their logo on the card as well so I assume it's a preview of some sort of a card that you could get (if you weren't a cheap bastard like myself). I don't know.
This is a 1960 Topps Jim Bunning. It also came in one of those magnetized cases and it was sealed with their sticker. Of course, I took it out of that. After having the card in hand, it is in really good condition. The only thing I see wrong is the cut and it wasn't even that bad. I certainly not going to complain about getting a vintage card.
Last but not least, I got this relic from 2001 Donruss Classics of Bob Gibson. It's a relic of the visitors dugout bench so it certainly isn't anything special but it's still a pretty cool card.
As you can see, it was a pretty cool box, mainly because it was free. Nothing against Sportscards.com, but if you read this blog, you know I buy cheap so as much fun as it was to go through everything. I probably won't buy any. I will, however, still be using their site to save some more Ebay searches.
Thanks to the Sportscards.com peeps for sharing the box with me. It was an enjoyable time going through it. If you're into these subscription boxes or want to try one of the collector's boxes, I'd say go for it. Definitely check out their site and see all the different kinds of boxes and see if something jumps out at you.

I'm here, still
I've been slacking here but not on my cards. I've been trying to get all my cards in on the Trading Card Database (MySportsObsession). I've gotten all my player collections listed and I started the Vintage collection but I've only gotten my 1973 Topps logged in so far. I did get a few cards in the mail the last couple of days so I thought I'd throw up a quick post.
We'll start with the Baseball Collection, which in reality is any card that doesn't go into my other collections. I picked up this 2016 card for $.10/shipped. It's my 16th card from that set, all picked up for a dime or less on Ebay.
Next up is the White Sox Collection, this blue Tim Anderson from the Big League set came to me for $.15/shipped. I believe this is the first card I've gotten from that set and it's not even a base card.
Now for the player collection portion. I grabbed this Chris Sale A&G for $.20/shipped. This is my 145th card of Sale, sadly, it's another card in the wrong Sox jersey.
Last but not least, I grabbed a Tom Seaver that I didn't have, which is rare. With this card, I've already gotten half the cards that I added last year. I actually probably could have won it earlier but I usually skipped past it thinking I already had it. When I finally checked, I didn't. I grabbed it for a quarter/shipped. It is my 354th card of Seaver.

1974 to Ripken
I got 2 envelopes with 5 cards total. 4 in one and 1 in the second although the 1 goes right along with the 4. Of the 5 cards received, only 2 collections are represented and the vintage collection ones are all from the same set.
Obviously they both go to the Ripken collection but the card on the left I picked up for $.22/shipped and is the card that I won by itself. The card on the right came with the rest of the cards on the post. I picked it up for $.22/shipped as well. These 2 cards put that collection at 346th different cards of Ripken.
I also picked up these 3 1974 cards for the Vintage collection. All 3 were $.25/shipped each. I bid on a bunch of '74s but these were the only 3 I managed to win. They make 169 cards for that set.

An extra M
I did manage to get 1 card in the mail today. I grabbed this card for the Vintage collection.
I picked up this 1977 for $.23/shipped. I mainly know Bruce Kimm from his short stint as the White Sox coach and that's mainly because I remember his last name on a jersey, probably the extra M in his last name stuck out for me. This is my 113th card of that set and my 287th pick up for the Vintage collection this year.

Multi-Sport day
It's a Monday so it feels like a 4 card day, but let's mix it up. How about 2 baseball cards and 2 basketball cards. 2 player collections, 1 team collection and a vintage collection. Even throw in a relic card. Sounds exciting, let's get to it.
This is my 2nd Caris LeVert card all-together as well as the 2nd in the last couple of weeks. I picked this up for $.23/shipped. I'd like to get a LeVert in the Maize and Blue, both of them are in his pro uniform.
This is my 4th card of Nik Stauskas but unlike LaVert above, this is my 1st one in his pro uniform. I picked this one up for $.23/shipped as well, only it came in a 3 card lot with 2 other 76'ers that I don't need. Both of the above cards came from the same seller as well.
Now we're dropping it old school with a great pitcher in the 80's. I got this one for only $.14/shipped It is my 139th card of that set and my 111th card picked up for the vintage collection this year.
Last but not least, I got this 2005 Relic of Harold Baines for $2.49/shipped. I debated on bidding on that much because it's kind of a cheesy card but it is of Harold Baines so I said why not. This is the 67th card that I've picked up for the White Sox collection this year.
