Trade with Spiegel

Spiegel of “Nomo’s Sushi Platter” had told me he wanted the Conlon Dodgers from the set I had bought.  So off they went, that was probably the most cards I’ve sent to a Dodger collector in awhile.  I don’t have hardly any Dodgers because there is so many of them out there and I’ve traded with a bunch of them.  Here’s what Spiegel sent me in return.

Gotta love the 1966 Romano, you know, just because it’s vintage.  But also all the other cards he sent.  He sent a bunch of inserts that I needed, the above is just a few of them.  The Sergio Santos is a purple refractor.  I already had the base and the chrome refractor and now the purple.  Great card Spiegel.

3 Extra Edition, Gold Floyd, Kimball Dunn and Sale Chrome.  Spiegel has already gone above and beyond our trade and then he puts the Danks blue sparkly (Hope Diamond) numbered 60/60.  Thanks Spiegel, truly a great trade.

Spiegel has Nomo Sox cards?

I don’t know if the title is true, but I’m trying to make my title’s a little more flashier.  Is it working?  Maybe, maybe not, but hey, they can be fun to think up.  Of course, I’ll probably lose followers because you all may think they are stupid.  Oh well, I’m having fun, that’s the real reason that all of us blog anyways, isn’t it?  We enjoy what we’re doing.  My wife enjoys that I blog about my cards because it means I don’t have to explain my excitement about cards to her.  Check out this card, honey!  Or this one!  This ones cool because blah, blah, blah.  Now I show off to all of you but I don’t have to explain anything, because you all know cards.  And understand my excitement over a card that probably isn’t worth much book wise, but understand the excitement of a player or team card that I like.

I had also sent a trade package to Spiegel over at “Nomo’s Sushi Platter” of some stuff he’d like.  He had mentioned that he had some White Sox relics I might be interested in so I went shopping for some cards for him as well.  Actually, traded with my cousin for some cards but it’s more or less shopping.  Here’s the highlights.

Some Topps Opening Day of which I think I had 1 card of but none of the ones Spiegel had sent.  A couple of Topps Finest that I really like, the shinyness and also the big Sox logo in the background.  A National Chicle of which I also only had one of but it was Ramirez and a Thome I didn’t have.

None of these I had either.  You can’t go wrong with a couple of HOF’ers.  I know some have expressed their distaste for the reprints of all the vintage and I am in agreement, it was great at first but like junk wax, they keep overproducing them.  But I do like the HOF cards that are different, not reprints.  So I appreciated those.  I had never seen the Upper Deck cards in the middle, I really like the looks of those, and of course one of those is a Konerko, sweet!  The bottom three are all cards from sets I didn’t have yet also.  And another Konerko.  Woo Hoo!

The Danks brothers on top, Jordan Obak auto, who is supposed to be a pretty good prospect and has looked decent in his little major league experience.  And big brother John’s jersey card.  A Paulie jersey of which I have the card, but I believe mine is a plain jersey where as this one has a stripe.  But I certainly have no problem with duplicate relics or auto’s.  A Gordon Beckham orange refractor.  And a Upper Deck Exquisite card numbered to /75.  First time I’ve seen the exquisite cards as well, did they make those things thick enough, wow!

On a side note, I’m coming up on my 100th post already so I plan on a giveaway so keep your eyes peeled in the next week or so.  It won’t be anything special, maybe packs or cards of your favorite team.  We’ll see.  I still got a few posts to go but it’s coming.

Trade with Nomo’s Sushi Platter

And yet another trade last week.  I love getting trade’s in the mail, you get to build your collection and all it costs me is cards I had no use for anyways.  You get to give those cards to someone who loves them in return for cards you love.  And that leads me to my most recent trade with Spiegel at “Nomo’s Sushi Platter.”  I sent him some cards, he sent me some.  And some great cards did he send.  Here’s the highlights.

First off, some Bowman with some gold.  As a set, I’m not a big fan of Bowman because I like getting cards of players I know.  But I do like the base set of the pro players.  I like the looks of most of the Bowman sets.  Don’t get me wrong, I like the draft pick players too, but I much prefer players I know.

I know some people out there aren’t big fans of the Toppstown but I like them.  I don’t play any of the games on the site, but I like the looks of them.

I also like the look of the Upper Deck Signature Stars and of course you should know by now, I like the sets that have the vintage look to them.  And who can complain about 3 different Luis Aparicio’s.

And Spiegel hooked me up with a slew of Paul Konerko’s for my collection that seems to be getting bigger and bigger with each trade.

  

And look at all that sparkle.  Mark Buehrle Refractor and an AJ Pierzynski diamond anniversary card.  I love the shine on that card.

And Spiegel must have been reading my blog and noticed how much I like to post Jordan pictures from his days in basketball.  I know, some of you didn’t realize he played basketball before he did baseball, but that’s why I’m here, to educate.  It just so happened that my favorite basketball player of all time, played his baseball with my favorite baseball team’s organization.  That worked out nicely and thanks to Spiegel, I now have my first Jordan baseball card.  And it’s a nice one at that.

And to top it off, he threw me a little relic love with this Pierzynski jersey card.  And these were just the highlights, he sent me a whole bunch of cards.  A great trade with him, make sure you check his blog out at “Nomo’s Sushi Platter.”  And if you need a good trade partner, look him up as well.  Thanks again, Spiegel
