Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Quicky

Just a quick post and I'll be caught up. Up until tomorrow when I log in my sorting and pickups from last weeks shows. At least I can say I was caught up for a day.

Fred (the guy I work with) has started sorting for my LCS so he gave me a stack of cards for me to check. These are what I kept.

Starting with the White Sox Collection, I like the Crochet as he's one of the guys I like to pick up because he could be good if the White Sox don't ruin him. The 4 on the right are all 2011 Bowman which I knew I had a bunch but these were Chrome and Gold. A few more older Bowman and a Minor League card round it up.

I also got 2 PC cards. An Andrew Vaughn Chrome Update rookie and a trippy Luis Robert. Hoping for big things from these 2, I'll probably get them from Robert, not so sure about Vaughn.

I'll have some more posts after I catch up on things tomorrow. We're doing the Fort Wayne show on Saturday so we'll see if I don't pick up a few things there as well.

Completed Team Sets–2011 Bowman

I needed 2 cards for this set, ended up picking them up twice, go figure.

Another nice set from Bowman, although they don’t change a whole lot year to year for a bit.  Black borders always look good with Chicago White Sox cards.

It does have a Chris Sale rookie though so the set is not all bad.  Although it looks like his arm is broke.  Topps decided to include the team captain, Paul Konerko this year, unlike the last one.

Completed Team Sets–2011 Topps Allen & Ginter’s

team-11toppsaandg

I am definitely not a fan of the Allen & Ginter’s sets because I hate all the non-baseball cards.  But that isn’t going to stop me from collecting the team set.

I do like the design for the set.  I think these are nice looking cards.  I got all these from trades as I have never bought a pack from any year of Allen & Ginter’s.

Trade with Night Owl

I grabbed a few Dodgers for Trade Bait and Greg from “Night Owl” was the first Dodgers blogger/collector to jump in on a few of them.  We’ve traded a few times, you can check out previous ones of the trade page over to your right.  Although, I am seriously lacking on updating that page.  Add it to the list of stuff I’d like to get done here.  But back to the trade, this was just a small one, I sent him a few, he sent me a small stack.  He’s like that, just a great trader.  Here are the highlights that he sent me.

trade-nightowl01

An alcoholic refractor, although scanned, it almost looks camouflaged.  But I like all the sparkly in this years sets.  A couple of Orange refractors, a couple of A&G, one being a code card.  An update of a previous Sox, guess he needs a new update card now.  And an insert of Chris Sale.  What’s best is this isn’t all Greg sent me and he sent a bunch of Sox I didn’t have.  I, like most of you, like the colored refractors.  I believe these are my first of Topps Chrome.  I have an Orange Gordon Beckham, but I’ve had it awhile so I’m pretty sure it’s not Topps Chrome from this year at least.  As always, an outstanding trade with Greg.  I’d plug his blog (Night Owl) to you all, but let’s face it, I’m willing to bet if you read baseball card blogs, you read his.  It is the best card blog out there.

Cards from Padrographs

gift-roy2

Rod over at “Padrographs” apparently sends out cards to people just to get rid of them.  I wasn’t even aware of his blog until he contacted me about sending me some.  First off, a shout out to AJ over at “The Lost Collector” for letting Rod know about me.  Now back to Rod.  I received his cards, a nice stack of White Sox, these are just a few that were added to my Sox collection.

gift-roy

Rod, I assume, being a Padres collector hooked me up with my newly started Dave Dravecky collection.  A bunch of cards heading to the player collection.  The 3 ‘85 cards together are a Topps, O-pee-chee and an autographed Topps.  Wow!  Thank you.  All these cards are going to the PC.

Last I heard, Rod was still looking to get rid of a few more teams, so go check out “Padrographs” and see if yours is one of them.  Thanks Rod!

Trade with Cards from the Quarry

Just completed a trade with “Cards from the Quarry” earlier this week.  I sent him some Colorado Rockies and he sent me a great package.  Here are the highlights.

sox-other

Love the Sox team cards.  I like the vintage feel to it as well.  And an ‘84 Tom Seaver for that collection.  Can’t beat a card with Ryan, Carlton and Seaver on it as well.

sox-numbered

All 5 of these cards are numbered beauties.  A couple of Heritage which I always like those sets.  My first National Chicle and a refractor at that.  And a couple of Topps gold.  I want to say I didn’t have any ‘09 Topps in my collection yet as well.

mlb-dye002

A nice Jermaine Dye jersey with a pinstripe.  I remember back when the stripes on the jersey swatches were huge.  Not so much anymore, but I still like them.

And on top of all those White Sox beauties.  He sends me this great Peyton Manning card.

nfl-manning001

It’s an eTopps which I’m not familiar with at all.  I know what they are and how to get them, but I don’t have a clue how they come packaged.  Do they all come in this hard cover with the sticker or is this an uncirculated eTopps card?  Considering none of them are really circulated, and you have to purchase them from Topps, I’ll assume they all come that way.  But I’ve been known to be wrong, quite often in fact.

Thanks Johnny, for the sweet trade.
