Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Trade with Eric

Eric of “Manupatches and Mustaches” said he had a bunch of 1981 Topps to send me (you’ll see all those later) and who am I to turn down someone sending me cards.  But then a day or so later he posted this card, which I wanted.

Juan Pierre Liquorfactor (Cognac) card.  Although after I scan these I think they look like they are camouflaged.  I like all the sparkly cards in last years set and I’m sure I’ll like them in this years set.

Pierre had his moments for us, but I liked him.  They say he’s the hardest working guy in baseball.  I know when he was struggling with us, he went out and played hard every day.  You have to respect that.  Everyone has slumps, it’s how you perform while in those slumps that makes the man.  And he kept his head up and work even harder to overcome the slump.  Like I said, you have to respect that.

Along with the huge stack of 1981 Topps, he also sent some other Sox cards for my collection.  Because he’s cool like that.

A couple of our new managers rookie cards.  And you can’t go wrong with a vintage, even if it is a reprint.  Not positive what the Luke Appling is, haven’t logged it in to my collection so I haven’t googled it yet.  A Sale mini I didn’t have, I have a few of the mini’s but I didn’t have this one.  And since I started this photo with our current manager, I’ll show our last manager at the end.  Although I picked it out because it’s a cool photo.  This is just a few of the cards he sent.

Thanks Eric, I’ve scrounged up some cards for you but I want to pick up a few more before I send out your package.  But I’ll definitely hit you back.  And thanks again for all the 1981 Topps.  Huge help to the set.

Trade with Justin

Before I get to this trade, just a couple of quick things.  I hope I’m not overloading your blogrolls with all the posts.  I’m trying to post a 1981 post and a 1973 post during the day while I’m at work and then a normal post in the evening.  I was going to do one a day but I got to thinking, that’s over 1300 posts between those 2 sets, plus my other posts.  That’s almost over 4 years of posts a day.  So I’m posting 1 a day of each set.  Although I’ll be out of 1973 in a few weeks then it will slow down.  The 1981 posts will be going for a long time because of great bloggers like Eric at “Manupatches and Mustaches” and Kyle at “JABO’s”.  Both sent me huge stacks of 1981 cards along with other trade cards.  Those cards you’ll see in upcoming trade posts.  But you’ll have to wait to see all the 1981 cards, 1 at a time.  Just like they will both have to wait until I find some great cards to send back.  Thanks to both of you.

Justin of “Justin’s World” and I traded a few cards back and forth and before I get to what he sent me, let me just say, his package is the reason I love trading in this community that we have.  Along with the cards he sent me, he added 5 packs of Cars 2 stickers for my son.  Which came at a great time because they quit selling them here.  I loved explaining to him that someone I’ve never met, sent those to him.  Truly awesome package Justin.  Oh yeah, here’s the cards.

I’m told that anything over 25 years old is considered vintage.  That makes this whole package vintage.  But, in my mind, anything before the 80’s is vintage.  But I still like them all.  Love the vintage because, well, it’s vintage.  And love all the 80’s because of the flashbacks of childhood.

Thanks again, Justin.  Check him out here at “Justin’s World

Trade with Manupatches

I had a trade with Eric over at “Manupatches and Chrome Scratches” and the day I got the cards in, I was listing my cards on Zistle and somehow mixed them in with what I was entering so I can’t show you exactly what he sent me.  I was very pleased with the trade in itself, he sent me a bunch of what some of you consider “junk wax” but a lot of that was the cards I collected as a kid so I still like them.  I feel the same as most of you to the fact that it was overproduced and aren’t worth the cardboard they are printed on, but it takes me back to collecting as a kid so I don’t mind it as much.  And he had sent over a bunch of that, of which I didn’t have so I loved getting them.  I feel bad that I can’t give Eric the post he deserves because I mixed his cards in, but if your out there, thanks for the trade.  It was very much appreciated.  This was my 2nd trade with him and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first.  He’s a great trade partner and was a big help on for me getting started on trading online with fellow bloggers.

One of the cards he did send me, I set aside to scan so I could ask for your help.  I tried to enter it in Zistle and then realized that I couldn’t figure out what it was.  I googled and still nothing.  So I’m giving all of you a shout out, can you tell me what this card is?

There is a TS in the purple diamond on the front.  On the bottom of the card back it says “Photo by J. Daniel / Allsport USA”.  I think you should be able to read the rest.  So if anybody can help me out here, it would greatly be appreciated.

In other news, I’m going to try to get a few posts ready for later this week because I just haven’t had the time to do so during the week.  I had gone to my first card show this past weekend in probably about 20 years or so and I have a post for that.  It’ll be a big one unless I decide to break it up into a couple of posts.  And another trade post as well so I should have a couple of posts this week.

Another quick question you all can answer as well, my wife has trouble reading this white text with the black background.  Is that an issue for some or all of you or is it just one of her many issues?  Let me know in the comments.
