Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

One Blogger, Lots of Cards

We set up in Shipshewana today and had a really good day. It was non-stop from once we set up until about 1 or 1:30. It was packed most of the morning. We barely had a chance to sit down until the afternoon. Which made great timing because about the time it started slowing down, John from John's Big League Baseball Blog stopped by to say hi. He had messaged me the other day and said he'd be at the show so we chatted while he looked through our boxes.

I should have put my head down so you could see my Michigan hat, plus it's crooked, good thing John is more photogenic than me. It was nice to meet another blogger, I think Dennis is the only other one I've met in person. I feel like I might have met another one at some point but my memory is failing me. Great meeting you John, look forward to next time.

Since John and I are both Michigan fans, it's only fair that the random give me some Michigan players for today's post.

I picked up these 3 parallels from Hollister at the Lansing Show. They came from the box we purchased from him. These 3 double the cards I have of this parallel. These 3 also give me 24 cards of Chesson.

I could copy and paste the paragraph above about Chesson here, except I only had 1 other prizm of Long. These 3 came from the same Hollister box as the above. These 3 give me 10 card of him.

The only card on this post that didn't come from Hollisters. This one came from Sluggo as part of the sorting. It's a rookie and he's in the Maize and Blue, I'll definitely take that.

I also got a plethera of Paye's from the same Hollister box. As you can tell, I picked out a bunch of cards from that box.  Lots of color parallels up there. These 11 cards of Paye give me 26 of him.

Friday night ups and downs

I'm not even going to talk about the Sox. We're going to have to win 3 straight now.

Sluggo and I are heading to a card show tomorrow in Ft. Wayne. I don't know if I'll buy anything, the last show I purchased some cards at, I hit the $1 boxes and came away with some new Michigan player PC stuff. I got home and logged everything in, including the last package of Sportlots and realized I just paid $1 for a lot of cards that I picked up on Sportslots for half that. So I'm still going to shop, but I'm sticking to dime boxes and I think I'll look for some $2 or $3 relics/autos. Of course, I'll still be shopping for store inventory as well, which is the main reason we go to these shows.

Today you get another Michigan PC player, I know you're excited about it but I've slacked on those collections for awhile so it's nice to pick these back up. I hadn't posted about this player since January of 2020.

A couple of different parallels of Jehu Chesson. 3 different Prizm Prizms followed by 2 different Unparalleled. I really like the look of those, it even looks good in Pink.

6 more various Panini brands along with another set of parallels. As a bonus every card in this post are all labeled rookie cards, they were also all purchased on Sportlots.

These 11 cards doubled plus one card on my PC, I now have 21 cards of Jehu.

3 Singles

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

I pulled up one of my single card purchases (player collection) so instead, I'm going to drop 3 of my single card purchases in one post. They are all related as they are all previous Michigan alumns.

We'll start with the only of the 3 that also goes to the Michigan collection. Just because they took the wings off his helmet doesn't mean you can fool me. This is my 10th card of Chesson. I already had the gold version of this so now I have the base to go with it.

I also picked up another Caris LeVert for his collection. This is my 12th card of LeVert and I have none in a Michigan jersey. I'm not sure I've ever seen one either.

Last but not least, the actual card that got randomned for this post. James Bourque was my last player collection to start (until I get my next cards from Sportlots). This is only my 2nd card of his as I just started his collection last month. As of now, TCDB only shows 41 total cards so hopefully that will go up so I have a better chance of continuing this collection. I'm thinking if he's getting these kind of cards, maybe some Bowman this year? He was in last years, but only autographs.

My 2 favorite teams

I may have started the week off right in the last post, but I got nothing until today. At least I finally got something. 2 envelopes, both with one team in each one.

I grabbed both of these from the same seller. I paid $.25/shipped for the Rutherford and $.39 for the Cease. It is my 4th card of Rutherford despite him still being in the minors and my 5th of Cease who is currently with the big club so I'm sure I'll definitely see more cards of him.

Since I started with White Sox cards, I'll post these that I picked up at Walmart as well. I bought a blaster of Topps Stickers for $10. I like that they are card sized since I won't be sticking them anywhere. The backs also feature another player so twice the chance of getting stuff for my collections. That was the thought anyways, I only ended up with 2 Sox and they were both on the front.

A past pitching stud and a future pitching stud, although neither are with the club at the moment. Kopech had Tommy John surgery  and is scheduled to be back next year and you should all know that Sale is with the wrong Sox now. Actually, I found it surprising that Sale was featured in a White Sox uniform, I even had to send in a correction on TCDB because it was listed as a Boston card. It is my 10th card of Kopech and my 148th card of Sale. If you divide the blaster with the $10 I paid, it equals to $.25 a card/sticker.

I picked up this former Wolverine for $.28/shipped. It is my 8th card of Chesson, this is the gold version of Leaf Draft. I'm slowly getting up to double digits on Jehu's cards.

More Wolverine Autos

I picked up a couple more Wolverine autographs that came today. One guy I've been colling for a few years without to much luck and the other guy is a more recent collection that I've grabbed some cards lately.

I've been trying to get Mike Martin cards now for 7 years and this is only my 8th one and it cost me $3/shipped. It is my 3rd autograph of his and only my 2nd in a pro uniform. The other pro uniform card is the base card to this auto.

This Christmas colored card came to me for $2.25/shipped. I've only been collecting his cards a couple of years and it's up to 6 now and half of those are autographs. I picked up 4 of his last year as he's getting settled into the NFL.

2 teams, 3 cards

I got a few cards today. A couple I've been trying to win and a relic I've never seen.

We'll start with the relic.

I've seen the 2001 relics so that wasn't new, I just don't think I had come across a Royce Clayton one. Between being a 2001 and it being Clayton, I'm sure I would have won it sooner had I seen it. I picked it up for $1.51/shipped.

I picked up these 2 from the same seller. I only won them because I decided to up my high bids for Michigan cards from a quarter to $.50. I got tired of losing them for $.30 all the time. Although I picked these 2 for $.50/each/shipped. It's only my 2nd card of Chesson but my 4th of Butt.

2 out of 5 ain't bad

I got 3 envelopes with 5 cards, although 2 of the envelopes came from the same seller and they were cards I bought at the same time. Following last Saturday's new player collection, tonight I have another.

I picked this one up with the following 3 cards. Although, I just went to take it off my team set and it wasn't there, which means I already have it. Damn it. Oh well, it was only a quarter/shipped.

I also picked up these 3 for $.25/shipped/each and upon putting them on my Barry Larkin page, I already had 2 of these. I don't know what the hell happened. If I drank I could blame it on that but I don't so I can't. I do get to add the 1996 Score thought. That makes 148 Larkin cards.

I know this one I didn't have because it's my first of Jehu and it's a Michigan card at that. 2 collections in one. This one I even got cheaper, only $.23/shipped.
