Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Team Collection Boost

I'm here, just in time to get my last one out for the month. It's a big one too. Tomorrow is my surgery so I didn't want to leave this for the last day of the month. Thanks to all of you who wished me well on the last post. I assure you I'm in safe hands, my doc did graduate from the greatest public university in the world. That would be the University of Michigan for those who don't want to admit it.

There's quite a few of good managers listed up there. Cubs with their floating heads again, I could understand that now a days with social distancing and all. I don't think I knew Don Zimmer ever coached the Red Sox or that Tommy Lasorda did the Dodgers (kidding).

The top picture came from the Facebook purchase, all the others came from Sportlots. These 19 cards put the 1979 Topps set at 402 cards which is good for just over 55% completed.

I put in another order at the virtual dime store (baseballcardstore.ca) as well as had some of my cards shipped from Sportlots. Once those get here and I get them logged in and scanned, I'll start next months cards.

Random PC Cards #68

Since I haven't had much come in this week, I'm going to give you another random post. I did get my 30 1985 Topps cards that I mentioned a week or so ago. So that set is now down to only needing 23 cards. If I keep having slow weeks like this, I'll keep picking up those lots and make a little headway on the 80's portion of the Vintage collection. I do have some cards coming so hopefully next week you'll get a few more posts than this week.

I'm going to be using the random card link on TCDB and see how well it works out.

3 card Saturday

Just a quick post today. I got a couple of envelopes in the mail with 3 cards.

We'll start with the 1 vintage pick-up for today. Another 1978, I've seemed to pick up quite a few of that set in the last week or so. I picked this card up for $.23/shipped. This one is my 146th card for that set and is my 246th pick-up for the vintage collection.

I picked up a couple of more cards for the White Sox collection as well. The 1989 Fleer is an update and I may have the Baines already but I didn't have it listed so I grabbed it anyways. I only paid a quarter/shipped for each of them. They are my 197th different White Sox card picked-up so far this year.

Couple of days of cards

I know it's Sunday but I need to post the last couple of days of mail calls. I didn't post them on the days that I got them because Jeff over at 2x3 Heroes dropped a box full of cards on me and I've been getting them sorted and cataloged. All in all, it's 187 new cards to my collections so you can see why it took a couple of days. It'll take even longer to get them scanned so you won't see those for some time but let's get to the last 2 days.

On Friday, I got one envelope with 4 cards that all go to the Vintage Collection.

These 4 vintage cards, oddly enough, cost more the newer they were. The 1974 was $.15/shipped, the 1976 for $.20/shipped and the 2 1978 cards for $.23/each/shipped. The 1974 is my 157th card of that set. The 1976 is also my 157th card of that set. The 2 1978's put that set at 136 cards.

Yesterday, I got 2 envelopes with 3 cards. All White Sox collection cards but also 2 other collections represented.

These 2 cards were as cheap as they come. I paid 1 penny each, shipped. That's right, $.02/shipped for the above cards. They are only my 2nd and 3rd card for that team set and my 134th for that base set.

In the other envelope was this 2017 Donruss of Chris Sale. At least he was still in his White Sox jersey on this one. Not that there are any logos to prove it. This is my 124th card of Sale and my first of that team set.

Sluggo sent me these 2 great vintage cards of Carter.

1992 Pinnacle ($.12)
1991 Upper Deck ($.10)
1992 Donruss ($.10)
1991 Score ($.10)
1990 Score ($.10)
1989 Score ($.10)
1987 Sportflics ($.08)
1982 Fleer ($.10)
1988 Topps ($.10)
More or less junk wax pick-ups but you gotta love the 1982 Fleer.

1991 Donruss Highlights ($.10)
2012 Panini Cooperstown Field Generals ($.40)
1991 O-Pee-Chee Premier ($.20)
($.49)
1989 Topps ($.11)
That one card up there without a title, I have no idea what it is. Even the Ebay listing just said Gary Carter baseball card. I bid anyways, because, you know, I won it cheap. It has no back, just plain ol cardboard. Any guesses?

These 16 cards bump up the Gary Carter Collection up to 71 cards.

January Pick-Ups - Vintage Collection (1960's)

This months pick-ups come from
  1. Dennis at "Too Many Verlanders" and "Too Many Manninghams"
  2. Sluggo (my cousin)
  3. Ebay
  4. Packs (I actually bought some packs)

I've randomed and todays selection are going to the Vintage Collection (1960's)

1964 Topps
1965 Topps
1965 Topps
1965 Topps
1966 Topps
1969 Topps
I love getting these vintage cards from my cousin, I'm actually surprised that I get them because he does card shows so I would think he could sell these. The White Sox I get are no surprise, nobody wants those in North Carolina, but these?

1969 Topps

I actually have no record of purchasing this so it was either a throw in (which I find hard to believe) or somehow it got sent to the wrong person. There isn't any cards that I didn't receive so I can't even say that they just sent me the wrong card. Knowing my record keeping, it was probably sent to me by Sluggo.

1969 Topps
I picked up this 1969 Topps for $.54
