Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

College Football Saturday

As you may, or may not know, Dennis and I got together to at the Big House for the Michigan game last weekend. He gave me a nice stack of cards in person since I saved him all that postage. Since I didn't get any cards in the mail today, I'll split it into 2 posts so they aren't to picture heavy.

Since it's college football Saturday, we'll start with the Wolverine cards.

Always like receiving cards of the Fab Five, they were the team that put Michigan on my personal map and started my love for the Wolverines.

All 3 of these guys had pretty good careers in the pros but they all started at Michigan. You should have heard of all these names before considering they have 33 years experience in the pros and Henne is still playing, well, still on a team.

You might have heard of this guy too. I love getting cards of him in the Maize and Blue. This is only my 5th of his and all are years after his draft in 2000.

Next we'll get into the player collection cards of former Wolverines.

This is my 6th card of Martin and is my 1st pro card. This is also the 1st card that I've gotten of his in the last 2 years so I was definitely happy to see a card of him.

This is my 9th card of Trey, almost in double digits. It's also the 1st card of his that I've received this year. I thought I would be able to pick his cards more quickly but they seem to be out of my price range.

This is my 8th card of Jake Butt. I expected him to have a pretty good pro career but in his 3rd season now, he has missed 2 of those with injuries.

This is only my 3rd card of Big Mo. I'm going to love him proving wrong all those idiots who passed on him in the first 4 rounds. He was a beast at Michigan.

These 2 cards of Stauskas give me 11 of the Canadian. I really like him when he played for Michigan.

These 2 cards make 7 of Wormley. Oddly enough, I started his collection off with 4 straight autographs and then the last 3 have been base cards.

These 3 cards make 43 card of Shoelace. I've been picking up his card pretty well this year, only had 2 last year and these 3 make 8 for this year. None of my pick-ups were as nice as that last one though. That is a sweet looking card.

That's it for this post, I do have another Michigan Man but you'll see his cards in tomorrows baseball packed post. Be sure to check out "Too Many Verlanders" and the better "Too Many Manninghams"

2 card Friday

Got 2 more cards in the mail today. Both singles, both different collections.

I picked this up in the online dime box of ebay. It's not part of the vintage collection because it's from the traded set but it does go to the baseball collection.

I also picked up another Carlos Rodon, future all-star (I hope). This one was only $.15/shipped for the White Sox collection. It's shiny, so that's a plus, but it's also unlicensed so no logos so it's a toss up.

2 Relics and a Sticker

Another catch up post because I've been slacking, which isn't good because I got a bunch of cards from Dennis over the weekend that I need to get off my ass and get scanning. So this post will be the usual ebay pick-ups.

I picked up this Ripken sticker for $.25/shipped. I've mentioned before how much I love the stickers because I used to do the books but this is a 1990 so I'm not sure if I did them when in high school. I probably did but I have no idea.

The first of 2 relics on this post is of Ryan Zimmerman. This USA jersey of Zimmy comes to me for $1.25/shipped. It also get me 1 card closer to the century mark of Zimmerman cards.

Last but not least, another Devin Funchess relic card, this one also comes to me for $1.25/shipped as well. This is my 31st card of Funchess. My pick-ups of him go in stages, I'll pick up 3 or 4 together and then not get any for awhile, and then 3 or 4 again.

Friday Twofer

I gotta shoot out this quick post of the 2 cards I've gotten the last 2 days because I know I probably won't post tomorrow as I'll be in Ann Arbor watching my Wolverines spank Maryland (at least they better) with my boy Dennis of "Too Many Verlanders/Grandersons/Tigers in General" and "Not Enough Michigan cards." It is a noon game so I should be back home at a decent hour but it's still between a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive so who knows if I'll be up to breaking out the laptop.

We'll start off with a Buehrle/White Sox collection card. This is from 2007 Heritage and it's a SP because the team name is in white. I picked it up for $.25/shipped. It is my 193rd card of Mark Buehrle.

You can tell football season has started because I've been picking up a bunch of former Michigan players, including this relic card of Devin Funchess. It's really shiny. This came to me for $2.25/shipped and is my 29th card of Funchess.

Team Collection Wednesday

I got my usual junk in the mail today (ads) like I do every Wednesday but there was also 2 envelopes for me, which almost always means cards.

I picked up this Giolito refractor for $.15/shipped. I like Lucas and hope he's everything he's supposed to be in the future. He has shown flashes of being a great pitcher, I just hope he lives up to the hype.

I was really happy to see I won this card. I don't have many cards of Gallon, I do believe this is my 3rd card. I picked this up for $3/shipped. It's a nice card as well because it actually shows the Maize and Blue on the helmet.
