Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

4 cards, 2 Dodgers

It was a 2 envelope kind of day, but a total of 4 cards. 3 from the same seller and a solo card. We'll start with that one.

I picked up my 2nd Opening Day card for the Sox collection. It's my 56th card of Abreu as well, I think if it was the 90's, he'd have as many cards as Frank Thomas did in that era. I picked this up for $.31/shipped.

I picked up another Schmidt as well, my 4th this year. This Canadian version of Donruss came to me for $.50/shipped. It is my 130th different card of the HOF 3rd baseman.

I could have sworn I had this one but apparently not. It is my 118th card of the Kid, it's one of the rare (at least I think so) of him in a Dodgers uniform. I got this for $.50/shipped.

Sticking with the Dodgers theme, here's one of a very young Konerko. I'd say this is a rare one in a LA uniform too but I think his Reds cards are harder to come across, or at least he doesn't have as many. This 1998 Elite card was also $.50/shipped. It is my 433rd different Paulie card which is my largest player collection.

How Much?

My cousin, referred to as Sluggo on this blog, contacted me that he had a couple of cards I might want. We decided on $10 for both of them. I know, that's way more than I normally spend but he is my cousin so I don't mind paying a bit more than usual. I checked the bay for previous sold of the cards and I didn't overpay for the cards, just spent more than I normally would.

When he showed me the pic of this card, I was thinking I already had it and was going to say no to the $10 but I looked closer and saw it's #'d to /99 so it was a different version (bowl ticket) than the ones I have. Plus, it's numbered 6 of 99 which is my birth month and my birthday so it's extra special. Not really, but it makes a good story. It's my 4th Autograph out of 6 cards in his collection.

This was the card I really wanted. I didn't have any auto's of Jabrill yet, this is numbered to /35 and he's in the Maize and Blue. What's not to like. This is only my 2nd Peppers card but at least I can say half of his cards are autographs.

The last one of the DeVeon Smith sold on ebay for $4.50 with another $4 shipping so $8.50/shipped. The last one sold of the Peppers went for $9.50 and $3.74 shipping so $13.24/shipped. So you can see that I still don't mind paying $10/shipped for the both of them.

5 cards for the price of 1

I got a card today, well, technically I got 5 cards but I only bid on 1. Well, technically, on 2.

I bid on a 2 card lot but I already had one of them so I only placed a bid high enough to win it if it was 1 card. The card I had was a Frank Thomas card but I wanted the (far) lower card. On top of that, he added 3 cards to the envelope. First the freebies.

Not a horrible 3 cards, I didn't have them so there's that but here's the card I did bid on.

I picked up all 5 of those card for the bid I won trying to get this card. $.17/shipped. I was actually happy it showed up because I noticed on my purchased page that the seller was no longer a registered user so I just assumed I'd never see it, but here it is.

Random PC Cards #68

Since I haven't had much come in this week, I'm going to give you another random post. I did get my 30 1985 Topps cards that I mentioned a week or so ago. So that set is now down to only needing 23 cards. If I keep having slow weeks like this, I'll keep picking up those lots and make a little headway on the 80's portion of the Vintage collection. I do have some cards coming so hopefully next week you'll get a few more posts than this week.

I'm going to be using the random card link on TCDB and see how well it works out.

I Got Lazy Again

I got a couple of cards the other day but I got lazy and didn't post them. Then I got 3 more today so I guess I'll finally post them along with today's stuff.

I'll start with today's cards. I picked up these 3 card from 2019 Bowman. The Kopech is only the 2nd card I've got from that set and the other 2 are the first of the Prospects set. The Kopech ($.22/shipped) is my 7th card of his, I guess I can still get his since his Tommy John surgery has kept him out of the eye of most collections. The Dunning ($.36/shipped) is my 5th of his and that is my first card of Madrigal ($.24/shipped) who, from what I hear, has been a stud in the minors. Don't know when we'll get to see him in the majors as they like to take their time since we're not in contention of anything.

I picked up my 353rd card of Tom Seaver for $.45/shipped. It is my 4th card I've picked up of his this year which is double of what I picked up last year so at least I got that going for me.

Last but not least, I picked up my first new Chris Getz in 3 years. I picked up this auto for $2.52/shipped. I don't think a lot of his cards get listed is the main reason I don't get many. I suppose I could go look for some on some other sites but I never get around to it. It's my 25th different card of the former Wolverine and Sox. It's not a bad looking card but I think that's because he's got the powder blues on.
