2 Ripken's plus 1

I got the last envelope today (might have been yesterday but I didn't get the mail) of the cards I purchased on Ebay before I left on my trip.  I didn't check Ebay while I was gone so I didn't bid on anything so it'll probably be a week or so before I have any more cards. Maybe I'll have time to get the other cards I got from Rod and Sluggo up in that time.

I picked up this Ripken for $.38/shipped. I wasn't sure when I bid on it if I had it or not and I was to lazy to check. Luckily I didn't.

That's not 2 cards, that's the front and the back. Lucky for me, they are both player collections. I picked this one up for $.45/shipped. It is my 194th different card of Larkin and the 2 Ripken's above make 445 different cards which (along with the cards I picked up from Sluggo that I haven't shown yet) puts him in 1st place for amount of cards. Which doesn't surprise me since he was around during the overproduction era.

Catch up from the Holiday

Hey all, I'm back. We went down to Virginia on Tuesday to spend the week with the in-laws. They live in Bristol and about 2 hours south of them my cousin lives so I took a couple of days and went to see him and his family while my wife hung out with her family and friends.

We got back yesterday and I gathered up all my envelopes that came in for the week so this will be a bigger post to catch up. I also bought some cards from my cousin (he sets up at shows) and I also received a bunch of cards from Rod over at Padrographs. I won a card in a contest and he sent me a bunch of White Sox as well. Back to today, these are my Ebay wins since Tuesday.

I picked up this card that I've bid on a lot and finally won. I only paid $.34/shipped for it as well so that was a surprise. This is my 102nd different card of Abbott.

I was also surprised to win this 2005 Leaf Sportscasters. It's numbered to /55 and I rarely see these come up for sale at a low minimum bid so it was nice to grab it for only $.50/shipped. It is my 105th different card of the lefty.

I picked up another Delmonico auto, this is the 3rd one in the last week or so. I picked it up for $2.25/shipped and it is my 7th card of Nicky.

I grabbed another Darboh auto as well. If you remember my last post with him, most of my cards of him are autos or relics. This one came to me for $3/shipped which I think is a decent price since this one is numbered to /99. It is my 15th different card of his.

Last but not least, I managed to actually win a Konerko relic card. I rarely pick his cards up anymore, let alone a relic. I paid my max bid of $3/shipped for it and it is my 437th different card of Paulie.

First and last of the week

I guess I have the proof on why my paypal payments were higher. After finishing last week with 3 days of autos, I'll continue with these cards.

I picked up another Darboh relic, I say another because out of the 18 cards I have of him, 14 are autos or relics. I actually already have this one so I put a lower than normal high bid and still won it for $1.49/shipped.

And staying with the theme of former Wolverines and also the weekly theme of autos, I picked up another Wagner autograph, this is only my 6th different card of him but it's my 2nd auto. I paid $2.32/shipped for this card. I'm pretty sure I read where he got traded and should be getting some more playing time so hopefully his cards don't go up to much.

I will be taking a small hiatus from the blog for the rest of the week. I'll be busy with some stuff for the holidays but I will be back next Monday, if not before. Probably with a fairly big post since I'll have the whole weeks of cards to post.

Week of Autos Continues

I'm a day late, I actually got these cards yesterday but my lack of sleep throughout the week caught up with my and I crashed early last night. Yesterday was the 3rd day in a row that I received autographs in the mail which leads up to the discussion I had with the wife this morning on how much I've been spending on cards. I do keep track and I haven't changed the habits as far as what I bid on or how much I bid but my costs have gone up because I've been winning a lot more autos/relics than I normally do. Oops! Here's what I got yesterday.

I picked up this auto for $2.51/shipped. It's numbered to /199.

I also paid $2.51/shipped for this auto on a bat (so they imply). The back says the auto is real but says nothing about the bat piece. I wouldn't be surprised if they just sign flat, thin pieces of wood specifically made for the card. This one is numbered to /49.

I saw that we released Nicky which sucked because I do like him, but I just read they released him to make room on the 40 man roster and he was out with a season ending injury while in the minors. You can't run an injured player through waivers, so teams generally released them to open up the spot and than sign them again later so maybe he'll stay with the team.

3 Autos in 2 Days

After receiving an auto yesterday of Trey Burke, I got 2 envelopes with 2 more autographs. One who played with Burke.

Yeah, I don't know who he is either. I only paid $1/shipped for it which is what I generally put on older autos of players I haven't heard of. Considering he only has 39 cards listed on the TCDB, it's not surprising that this is my 1st card of his. Obviously, this isn't the guy who played with Burke.

This is the guy, I nabbed another Stauskas auto for the collection. I got it for $3/shipped. It's my 4th auto and my 14th card total of his.
