Another New PC

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

Went down to my card room (I need to find a better name for it) and knocked out the rest of the C's and did all the D's. I even organized the E's so they are ready to go in the morning. I've been tweeting about it as I go if you care to follow along.

On to today's post, it's another new PC that I sought out because I didn't have any of his cards yet.

As you could guess, this is another former Wolverine trying to go pro. He played in 12 games with Green Bay but hasn't played since 2017.  I have a feeling I'm going to have a lot of player collections with only a few cards. I paid a $.25 for one and $.40 for the other, both very shiny cards.

Looking for a new trade partner

Just a quick post tonight. My cousin (whom you all know as Sluggo) called today. He was asking about my trading partners, which really, I only have one right now. I had told him way back when I used to trade, how great this community was. Well he's looking to trade cards. He's been a buyer/seller for awhile now, he would do card shows, sell on Ebay, ect. He has a couple of guys that sell him all kinds of cards.

He's looking to start his own collections, he's always kept some cards out for himself but now he's looking to expand those collections and he has a ton of cards to trade with. You've seen all the awesome cards he has sent me. He has sent me boxloads of White Sox cards, especially in the last few months. That being said, he has all teams available (except the White Sox) and is also willing to trade with Player Collector's. I can vouch for him, he's a stand up guy. He's been sending me boxes of cards with not really anything in return (I don't have much to trade with) for awhile now.

I wish I could link to all the posts where I showed cards that he gave me but I haven't tagged his posts but trust me when I tell you, you'll get some great stuff from him. I did plug his name onto my spreadsheet and it shows he's given me over 2600 cards since 2011 so there is that.

This sorting is definitely going to take a little longer than expected. I've made it up to the Co's so tomorrow I should finish the C's and get into the D's. I guess it's a good thing my work called and extended the time we're out until May 4th now. I'm still set on finishing this task before I go back. Right now I usually spend around 5-6 hours working on them. The last 3 days I stop in the middle so the wife and I can take the dog for a walk. Really, the dog is taking us for a walk because the main reason we are doing it is just to get out of the house for a bit. My son takes the dog for a walk in the afternoon so even if he doesn't get the morning one, he'll get another.

Anyways, today's post is one of the new player collections I mentioned a few posts ago. If you've been around here at all, you know that a new player collection usually means a former Wolverine gone pro and this is such a post. I was looking around on Sportlots and I don't remember if I ran across this name or just remembered he went pro, or whatever, but I searched out a few of his cards to get it started.

These 3 cards put that collection at 3 cards, in case you didn't figure that out. The bottom one goes to the Michigan collection as well. I only paid $.18 for the Michigan card and $.25 and $.30 for the 2 with the Knicks. He was another one year player with Michigan. Every year around this time I get annoyed by all the players jumping ship to the NBA. I understand why they make the decision but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Random Cards #70

Before I get to the random post, I ran across this today. Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Baseball Digest is giving free access to their online archives. I've signed up, they don't ask for any info other than an email address. This magazine takes me back to elementary school. I used to check them out at the library, they had issues from the 70's and I loved reading them. If you're not familiar with it, the first issue was in August of 1942 and you can read it there as well. I got throught the A's today on my White Sox collection. The newer players I can breeze right through because most of them are listed because I've been record keeping for awhile now. The cards I had before I started the record keeping take awhile to log into the spreadsheet. Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson went by quick even though between them I have over 100 cards, Wilson Alvarez, however, took awhile and I only have 34 cards of him. Tomorrow will start the B's.

Anyways, here's the random post. I took out the # because now that I'm going through my spreadsheet, I sort them by columns all the time so it's not in the original order. It's ok though, I marked a separate column when I've used a card so you still shouldn't see any dupes.

Good news, bad news

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

Well I got good news, bad news on my cards today. I got all my White Sox Collection cards sorted A-Z. Tomorrow I'll start with the stack of A's and put them in player order and check the spreadsheet and TCDB. The stacks above are all of them. Some letters have multiple stacks so they didn't stack to high. The T's were the most, which didn't surprise me since I have over 400 Frank Thomas cards. You see the bottom row, the 3 stacks on the left? Those are the T's. Oh, and the far right stack, the row above it. None of the other letters had more than 2 stacks.

The bad news is, I've now sorted all my cards and those missing 1985 Topps cards are just gone. I can't explain it, but there it is. I'm not overly mad about it, they probably aren't gone and it was probably my record keeping and I never had them. I was just so proud to actually complete a set but now I guess I'll get that joy again when I finish the next one.

On to today's post, only 1 card today. I think it's funny this post came up today because the reason I collect him is he's a MS activist. I believe his mother has it, as does my wife. I was watching today's 2005 replay of a Sox game (NBC Sports is playing 70 of them with baseball being delayed), and I saw my first ever commercial for the MS Society. I see ads for the meds for it all the time, this was the first one I seen for the actual MS Society. Nothing special, it just surprised me, I'd never seen one.

Obviously I ran across this one looking at the new 2020's for Sox cards. I only paid $.18, which I assume is the minimum across Sportlots because I've never seen one listed anything lower. This is my 111th card of Zimmy.
