Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

HOF Relics

I'm going to go ahead and post the last 3 players today. Once those are posted, I'm completely caught up with everything I've received up until this week. I'm hoping to get everything I've received logged, scanned and ready to start the next round of posts. As of right now, I have my latest Sportlots posts and a package from Dennis to go through. I'm also scheduled to get a package from baseballcardstore.ca on Monday. So I may be on a small hiatus for the holiday until I'm ready to go on the next round.

I'll start off with the Tier 3 player. I picked up these Yaz relics at the Baseball Card Exchange. They had a few others but I was trying to keep my spending down because I picked up a bunch of stuff there. I grabbed the Archives relic because it was cool looking, I grabbed the Baseball Heroes because it was numbered to /99. These are my first 2 relics of the Hall of Famer and put my Yaz collection at 80 cards.

Next up is my tier 2 collection. As you can tell, I was at the end of the Fisk cards on Sportlots as these are all relatively knew (except that Stadium Club and the 1974 look a like). The 1974 looking card is actually from 1992 and is a SCD Sports Card Price Guide card. All of the above came from Sportlots.

I also picked up this Fisk relic from the Baseball Card Exchange. I was happy to find one in a White Sox uniform. Granted it's one of the ugliest uniforms we've had, but still.

These 15 cards put the Fisk collection at 345 cards.

Finally, a tier 1 player. I grabbed the Gypsy Queen from Sluggo when we opened up packs. It's actually a short print so it was good to grab that for free. The bottom cards was from, yep, you guessed it, the Baseball Card Exchange. I told you I picked up a bunch of relics. That Heroes relic is numbered to /99 as well.

These 2 cards give me 519 cards of Tom Terrific.

Zimmy

Just a quick post today of a tier 1 guy. I only have 1 card to show because I did a post of his at the end of October.

I haven't bought any more of Zimmy, this came in that blaster that was given to me at Thanksgiving. Not a bad blaster if I say so myself. 3 Sox cards, this Zimmerman and 2 of Cronenworth that all went to my collections. Even the inserts were of good players that go to the shop cards.

This card gives me 131 cards of Ryan.

Lotsa Sox

Since we did a team post yesterday, we might as well do the other team I collect. I have a bunch of pics so I'm just going to jam them in here.

These were the only 2 that I got from Sportlots. The card on the left is a normal sized card, the right is a Fleer stamp of LaMarr Hoyt.

All of the above came from Sluggo in various forms. The top pic was in those boxes and boxes of 90's stuff that I went through. Everything else was just picked up here and there while going through his cards. Those are my first cards of Yermin Mercedes.

Remember when I said we opened a bunch of packs at Sluggos? That's where all of the above came from including my first card of our closer in that last scan.

Speaking of packs, these 3 came from the blaster of update that my daughter's girlfriend gave me on Thanksgiving.

The last 3 scans came from Fred. I would have guessed I had a few of the top scan but I didn't. I even thought I have the parallel of Rockin' Robin but nope. With the out of the blue 90's and 00's cards, I'm guessing that Fred is still going through his old collection and just brings me the White Sox. I can't complain because he has given me quite a few that I needed.

These last 3 came from the card show in Kalamazoo awhile ago. The top left is numbered to /50. The Abreu on the right is a SP Image variation and the Crochet is the red version of Stadium Club.

I picked this up at the Mishawaka show we set up at. This is my first Topps Now but I loved when they did this at that game so to see a card with it was a must have.

I picked this up at the LCS, it's supposed to look all tore up apparently because it's not in bad shape like it looks. I only paid a few bucks for a dual relic so I couldn't say no to that.

I picked up this relic of Abreu that's numbered to /99 at the Plymouth card show that we set up at. Again, I only paid a few bucks, $4 at the most for it.

Lastly, I picked up these relics, die cut and autograph at the Baseball Card Exchange. And again, I only paid a few bucks a piece for them.

As you can see, I added quite a few non PC Sox cards since September when I posted about the collection last. How about some stats for this post.

The White Sox Collection is now up to 9,418 cards.

The relics give me 258 in all of my collections.

The autograph gives me 398 in all of my collections.

Players over 100 cards in this post = Robin Ventura (142 cards), Jose Abreu (165 cards), Magglio Ordonez (173 cards)

Sunday, Maize and Blue Sunday

I missed posting yesterday as we drove down to Indy to see my niece graduate from the University of Indianapolis. It was at 10 am so we had to leave here pretty early since we're 3 hours away. We hit my wife's sister's house on the way home and hung out there a few hours so by the time I got home, I didn't even get online for very long. At least I didn't miss a birthday post.

I spent most of today going through NBA cards pulling HOF'ers and dollar cards for the shop. It's nice pulling Chris Webber cards for hall of famers now.

Today's post is a team post, Chris Webber's previous team to start with.

Well speak of the devil. I picked up this Webber from Sluggo. I didn't even know that Classic came in a Chrome version. This is my 8th card of C-Web, all in Michigan uniforms as I don't have a PC of him.

I picked this up at our last trip to the Baseball Card Exchange. I picked up a bunch of relics and autos for $3-$5. This was the only non-PC Michigan card that I picked up out of the pretty big stack I came home with. It is also my 8th card of John.

I got this card at the Mishawaka show that we set up at. I had a Michigan hoodie on and one of the sellers brought it up to the table and sold it to me. Of course, I used show money which means Sluggo bought it for me. It is the Purple Wave version and is my 24th card of Brady in the Maize and Blue.

That's all I had for the Michigan adds, I just posted that collection in September so I haven't picked up too much since then. These 3 give me 825 cards in the Michigan Collection.
