The above statement is true, I did random this player, it's just a coincidence that he's been in the news. At least in White Sox circles, I have no idea about national news.
Moncada just signed a multi year deal with the Sox. The above card came in the package from Sluggo.
All of the rest, including the 2 above, came from Sportlots.
As you can tell, I picked up quite a few. I like him, even thought about starting a player collection, but I'm always hesitant starting those anymore because players tend to jump ship and go to another team after a few years. It's one of the reason's I loved Konerko, he turned down more money to stay with the Sox.
Now that he's signed a (up to) 6 year extension, I'm leaning towards doing a player collection but I haven't officially pulled the trigger yet. As you can tell though, one of those days I was on Sportlots, he was the player I said, let's grab some of his cards.
Of course I had to pick up some 2020's as well. All of the above cards give me 82 cards of him, so if I started a PC, I would definitely get a nice start to it. For now, all these go to the White Sox Collection.
I totally understand the hesitation... as an A's fan, I haven't been able to attach myself to anyone in years. I wish they'd sign Chapman to a 6 year extension. Have fun collecting Moncada! I picked up a few of his rookie cards this weekend, because they were cheap.
