Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Old and New

I never thought I'd be calling 1990 & 2005 old but there you go.

I've gotten 2 envelopes in the last 2 days. I got lazy yesterday and didn't post, that just means more cards for you today.

I picked this 1990 Topps traded for $.25/shipped. It is my 10th card of Wayne.

I also picked up these 2 World Series heroes for $.25/shipped/each as well. It is my 30th card of Garland and 26th on Contreras.

I did manage a player collection card as well. I paid a little more for this one at $.50/shipped. It is my 187th card of Mark and my 3rd one of his this year.

All the cards above came from the same seller and he threw a bunch of others in as well. Mainly some 1993 Donruss, I had a couple of them but there were a few I didn't.

All 3 of these were new to me, or at least as far as TCDB is concerned but I have a bunch of cards stored in the basement that I haven't logged in yet so I probably already have them. It is my 18th card of McCaskill, 82nd card of Guillen and 27th card of Hernandez.

I also picked up this sleek pink shiny card of our starting SS who was on fire until he got injured. Hopefully when he comes back his hot season continues. This is my 13th card of Timmy and I picked it up for $.50/shipped.

I also picked up this fire card of Seaver from the same seller as the Anderson. This is my 356th different card of Seaver and the 9th card of his I picked up this year which is really good considering I only picked up 2 of his last year. I grabbed this one for only $.25/shipped.

Jimmy claimed some cards on one of my pack posts and I sent a PWE of the cards that he asked for and he was generous enough to send me some cards off my needs lists. He knocked the 2009 team set down to 3 cards and the 2014 Topps team set down to 1 card.

Ray also claimed some cards from my pack posts and sent me some cards in return. I don't ask for cards in return but some people are just generous anyways and I appreciate it.

2014 Topps Stadium Club Autographs ($1.52)
2007 Bowman Sterling Autographs ($1.25)
These 2 autos were too cheap to pass up. Adam Eaton is our leadoff hitter and it's a Stadium Club so it's a great shot and John Danks is currently the longest tenured White Sox player on the roster.

2013 Topps Update ($.21)
2014 Panini Prizm Refractor ($.25)

Picked up these 2 on Ebay as well. I picked up the Davidson not really knowing who he was but I have watched a number of spring training games and he's doing very well. He'll probably start in the minors because there are 2 spots left and 5 players fighting for it, including a couple of quite a bit of MLB experience already.

2016 Topps
2016 Topps
2016 Topps
2016 Topps
I managed to get 4 White Sox cards in my packs. Although I bought the packs knowing that I already had a series 1 team set coming so basically, I bought the packs just to open packs. We've all been there.

Cards from Baseball Dad

Baseball Dad/Dave from “Indians Baseball Cards” opened a pack a day last year from opening day till the end of the season plus some bonus packs.  You were able to claim a team or players and when they were pulled, you got the cards.  All he asked in return was to send him some cards in a trade or paypal him some money.  I don’t have much of anything to trade so I sent him some money a few days ago.  Let’s check out what I got.

trade-baseballdad

First off, the odd shaped cards.  The Bobby Thigpen is a normal sized card.  You can see the 1986 Donruss cards are huge in comparison, I didn’t know they came that size until I saw Dave opening them.  And then the pop-up is from 1985 Donruss (I think).  I do remember having some of those back then so it wasn’t new to me.

trade-baseballdad03

All of these 1990’s cards are new to the White Sox collection.

As well as these from the 2000’s.  Nothing terribly exciting but I needed all of them so it’s still greatly appreciated.

He’s getting ready to draft this years cards so jump on over to “Indians Baseball Cards” and get signed up.

Completed Team Sets–2007 Fleer

I finished this set awhile ago and am just not getting around to posting it.  I have some new stuff (2013) to scan, hopefully tomorrow.

completed-07fleer01

Action shots, team logo and player name, it has all my requirements for a good card.  No border would have made it better and I don’t know that I need to see the team name when the logo is on there.

But it is a nice set, all in all.  No complaints really.

Completed Team Sets–2006 Fleer

I’m sorry about all the Completed Team Sets and 1981 Topps posts, but that’s all I’ve got scanned so far.   I have some packages to get scanned but I’m waiting for 1 more from COMC before I scan some more.  I usually try to sit and scan everything at once while I have the scanner out.  But until then, you’ll get alternating between those 2.

completed-06fleer01

I actually received this team set from a trader, I don’t remember who now, but I took the Paul Konerko and it went to the Paul Konerko collection because I fill the player collections first.  But I went and picked up an additional Konerko to finish it with my last COMC purchase.

You can’t complain about all action shots.  Kind of a plain foreground but it’s got the team logo, so that’s a positive.

Completed Team Sets–2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom

team-09toppstickettostardom

Back in 2009, I was buying boxes from the LCS, this was one of them.  I don’t know if I completed the team set back then or not.  But when I got back into it last year I still had the majority of them.

team-09toppstickettostardom02

My largest team set to date at 11 cards.  By the time I’m done posting, it’ll be larger.  I’ve completed a couple of team sets from just a few years ago.  From the Topps base sets.

Trade with Spoke Bait

A long, long time ago.  I made a trade with theHitKing over at “Spoke Bait and the Game”.  Don’t let the length of time that it took me to post this tell you I didn’t like it.  I scanned a long time ago and they got put in my Tumblr file instead of my MSO folder.  I just ran across them so I got it together.

trade-spokebait03

All these are new to the White Sox Collection.  An 80’s stack, a 90’s stack, and a 00’s stack.  All greatly appreciated because they bring me closer to team sets being finished.

trade-spokebait04

Some 2012 Opening Day, which I had none of.  I don’t know if I would call Alex Rios a Superstar for the Superstar Celebrations.  This year maybe, definitely not last year.

trade-spokebait05

I had gotten in a Topps Heritage break and but didn’t get any of these that he sent.  I did get a Konerko in the group break but I still needed one for the White Sox Collection.  The rookie stars features our closer right now who is doing a great job.

trade-spokebait01

And of course, theHitKing sent me a few Konerko’s for my Paul Konerko Collection.  I have no idea how I didn’t have the toppstown but I didn’t.  Now that I’m going through the scans, I’m wondering if this wasn’t a trade package, but extra cards from playing a contest on his site about watching the Reds games.  Because I found this scan as well.

trade-spokebait06

I think I won a pack of 2012’s from him.  I gave all these to my son as he is just getting into collecting.

A great package from “Spoke Bait and the Game”.  If I owe you something, let me know because I don’t remember.

Hit him up for a trade but beware, he can be a little delusional.  This was wrote on my package.

trade-spokebait02

Although they may be in the mix this year, which I’m glad to see.  I always had a soft spot for the Reds.  Probably because of Tom Seaver.  I even remember having a Reds hat as a kid.

Trade with Spiegel

Spiegel of “Nomo’s Sushi Platter” had told me he wanted the Conlon Dodgers from the set I had bought.  So off they went, that was probably the most cards I’ve sent to a Dodger collector in awhile.  I don’t have hardly any Dodgers because there is so many of them out there and I’ve traded with a bunch of them.  Here’s what Spiegel sent me in return.

trade-spiegel01

Gotta love the 1966 Romano, you know, just because it’s vintage.  But also all the other cards he sent.  He sent a bunch of inserts that I needed, the above is just a few of them.  The Sergio Santos is a purple refractor.  I already had the base and the chrome refractor and now the purple.  Great card Spiegel.

trade-spiegel02

3 Extra Edition, Gold Floyd, Kimball Dunn and Sale Chrome.  Spiegel has already gone above and beyond our trade and then he puts the Danks blue sparkly (Hope Diamond) numbered 60/60.  Thanks Spiegel, truly a great trade.
