A couple of Sox

This post will have a lot of cards in it. A lot of White Sox cards. My cousin sent me 2 packages last month. These are the Sox cards from the second package that came towards the end of the month.

Those are all the cards from 2016. He sent me a bunch of the Holiday set but I already had a few. The only one I need now is the Abreu, to bad that Frazier don't count since Abreu is on it.

More Frazier and Abreu and some guys you don't see much on Sox cards. I'll definitely take the Zach Putnam as he is a former Wolverine. I should look and see who has played for Michigan and the Sox. Off the top of my head, I already collect Jim Abbott and Chris Getz. I know of Putnam and Clayton Richard as well. There's probably others, probably others I know but can't think of right now. One of these days I should do a list. I'm not sure where I can find something like that but I'll figure it out.

These are all from 2017. Those 4 Topps (Holland is from Update) finish off that team set except for the 2 SP's of Sale and Abreu. Speaking of Abreu, those couple of cards up there make 107 of his in my Sox collection.

A couple more of Vaughn who is supposed to be a big deal, my cousin has sent me most of the cards I have of him, these 2 give me 13 total. The Frank Thomas puts his cards at 528.

Last but not least, the 2020. He sent me a bunch of the Gypsy Queen as well but I had bought some of the Sox already but I needed all of those.

Sox additions

I headed down to my card room again this morning for a few hours and knocked out 1977, 1978 and 1979. I usually go down until my laptop is about dead so it's usually 3-4 hours. I could take my charger down there but usually by then the office chair is starting to kick my ass so I kind of use that as a timer.

I have 3 posts left this month. A team post, a year post, and a player post. Today, you get the team post. Since I only collect 2 teams, you got a 50% chance of guessing.

About half these came from Sluggo, the other half Sportlots. I believe all of them are 2019's except the Frazier. Some of those were trying to complete team sets, others I searched for by name. Either way, they all go to the White Sox collection.

For the hell of it, I clicked to see where I rank amongst other White Sox collector's, I didn't think I'd be that high. I'm listed as #8, but I'm still 4,300 behind the top guy. I'm sure I'll add more once I start logging in the Sox collection cards but I'm sure there won't be that many that I add.

Random Players From My Collections #5

I had planned on doing this earlier but I got busy working on my cards and once I get going, I try not to stop because I usually won't get back to it. I got at that point now where I'm done for the day so I remembered this post.

I wanted to do one of these today since I only had 2 posts this week and one of those was for some cards I didn't even win so I only received new cards 1 day this week. It's slowed down a bit because I tapered back on bidding on some autos/relics because my hours have been down a little at work and I have to save money for my Michigan/Ohio tickets (although after yesterday, I'm seriously considering selling them). I did get some OT this past week so hopefully hours will get back up again.

I passed over 17,000 cards entered in on TCDB sometime this week. Probably with the free cards because there were some packs. Which also means my players number has gone up by 33 cards and is now at 3,345 players.

#810 - Nate Jones (5 cards)

Nate Jones is a White Sox collection card. He was with the Sox for 7 years so I thought I would have had more cards than 5.

I believe he was traded earlier this year so he is no longer with the Sox. I think I remember hearing he was the longest tenured Sox player when he got traded. TCDB has him with only 157 cards so I'm guessing he just doesn't make a ton of sets.

#455 - Eric Show (8 cards)

Next up we have a Vintage Collection player in Eric Show. I have 8 cards of his, all but 1 are in the Vintage Collection.

According to TCDB he has 133 and I only need 9 of those for the rest of his Vintage Collection cards.

#3053 - Brad Mills (1 card)

Another Vintage Collection player but I only have 1 of his. These future stars cards from 1982 Topps bring back lots of memories. This one was a Terry Francona rookie card back in the day though.

He only has 47 cards listed on TCDB. I only need 4 of those for the Vintage Collection, all from 1982 and 1983.

Huge Mail Day

Believe it or not, I haven't been absent out of laziness, this time. I actually just hadn't received any cards all week. That is, until today and than I got a bunch at once. 4 envelopes to be exact but nobody cares about that, let's get to the cards.

We'll start with the freebies. These 3 were all throw in's on one of the other packages. Now I do occasionally get extras but never cards like these. Usually throw in's are from the junk wax era. I can definitely get on board with these, especially a Stadium Club.

I actually picked up 4 of these 2002 UD Vintage, these 2 obviously go to the White Sox collection. This is my 69th card of Carlos Lee and my 62nd of Ray Durham. I picked them both up for $.25/shipped/each.

I also added a couple more of Frank Thomas cards giving me 409 cards which would place him 3rd in my player collections, if I had a player collection of him. I paid $.44/shipped and $.41/shipped for them.

I also grabbed another 2019 Heritage which puts this team collection at only needing 1 card, minus the short prints. This is also my 5th card of Nate Jones and I picked it up at $.44/shipped.

I did get 1 player collection card, actually 2 but I already had the Larkin from the same set. As you can probably guess, I grabbed this one with the above 2 that go with it. I picked this one up for $.25/shipped as well and it is my 448th card of his which is my highest amount in a player collection.

Last but not least, I picked up another Delmonico auto, it's my 3rd one in a month. I only paid $1.50/shipped for it and it's my 8th card of his and as I said, 3 of those are autographs.

9 cards, 2 relics and an auto

I had a busy day today with 9 cards coming in. It all came in 2 envelopes though since 6 came from one seller and 3 from another.

The first seller had a bunch of 2017 Topps and Update and I grabbed what Sox I could get as well as a couple of player collections.

The first 3 are all from the flagship and the Goldberg is from Update.  I picked up the Nate Jones for $.16/shipped, the Austin Jackson for a penny/shipped, the Adam Eaton for $.23/shipped and the Brad Goldberg for $.25/shipped.

I also managed to grab this Zimmerman, also from the update set. I picked this up for $.25/shipped and it is my 87th different Ryan Zimmerman card.

I also managed another Chris Sale. This is only my 2nd one in a non-White Sox uniform. I grabbed this one at $.23/shipped. It is my 130th different card of Sale.

I also managed a few more expensive cards from another seller.

I remember when the Sox were pretty high on this guy, or at least I recognize the name so I assume they were. I grabbed this autograph for $1.25/shipped.

You're not seeing double, I actually won both of these. I bid on both thinking I might win one but I managed to get them both. I paid $1.90/shipped and $2.13/shipped for them. I keep dupes of relics or I may ship one off to 2x3 Heroes if I ever get another package for him together.
