This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

A Terrific addition

Finally, I've been waiting for this post to pop up because it's got some great cards. It's another Tier 1 card collection but some of the cards come with a story.

I picked up these 2 from Sportlots. I can't believe I got a Triple Threads for under $.50. Or the Kellogg's to be honest and as you can see, it's in pretty good shape. I just got these in the mail last month.

These 2 came to me from the Diamond King. I like the one on the right, probably because of the whole license thing.

The following 2 cards came from a guy on TCDB. He tweeted at me saying he entered all of his Seaver cards and looked at his ranking expecting to be 1st. He wasn't, by a long shot. I had around 500 and he was around half that. I told him to send me his address and I'd send any dupes I had of him that he needed. I ended up sending 25 or 30 cards and he sent me 1 card but I thought I got the better end of the deal.

This was the only dupe he had that I didn't but it worked out great because I was stoked to get this 1970 Topps Super (short print). It now sits on my shelf so I can see it (and where else am I going to store something that size).

A month later, he also sent this card to go with it. It wasn't necessary because I loved the first one but it was still something I needed.

He must have been on a binge because I just looked and now I'm currently 2nd, behind him by almost 100 cards. He has the rookie and a lot of his vintage stuff where as I don't, because I'm cheap. One day, maybe.

Lastly, I got this auto from Sluggo. He actually picked up the same card only the auto wasn't smudged so he let me have this one. Smudged autograph is better than no autograph. It's my first one of Tom Terrific.

These 7 cards put that collection at 517 cards, which is good for 2nd place on TCDB but 5th place in my own collection.

Lil' HOF'er

It seems that the way I pick what to post has recycled around to my Tier 1 collections which I posted about at the beginning of the year.

I grabbed this one Sportlots, it's a 1981 TCMA. It was a fill in while picking up other stuff. It must not have been listed when I went through his collection.

This is an Archives from 2020, Fred gave it to me at work. It was another one that he gave me that I thought I already had. I'm just glad they didn't make these the same size as the original year.

This card I got from Sluggo. It is my 3rd relic of Aparicio but it's my first jersey, the other 2 are a bat and a seat. Certainly can't beat a jersey relic from a hall of famer.

These 3 cards put me at 117 cards of Luis.

Speaking of the Diamond King (a post or 3 ago), he also sent me the following card of a PC that I don't get to add to very often.

It would be better if it didn't say expelled from baseball on it but I guess it's not really a secret. This is a Galasso Greats card and it puts my Shoeless Joe Collection at 33 cards.

Hot Peppers

Today's post is of a guy who was a beast at college. He's still playing but I don't hear his name mentioned to much anymore.

These 11 cards came in my Sportlots package. You might have seen some of these on his birthday post awhile ago. They're all pretty good cards as far as looks. Action shots and some shinyness.

I picked this one up from Sluggo. I definitely like the no borders on this.

This one I picked up at the card show in Shipshewana. I'm surprised I only found one of his considering how many Michigan cards I picked up.

This last shiny card I picked up in Fort Wayne at the card show. It was either $1 or $2. I'm too lazy to go look.

These 14 cards give me 27 cards of Jabrill. He was probably one of the most exciting players to watch in college, so much talent.

That's Amara

Just a quick post tonight as I'm sleepy, a typical Monday night of staying up too late over the weekend and can't get to sleep at a decent time Sunday night and 4:45 rolls around awfully quick when you go to bed after midnight.

I haven't added a new card to this guys collection since January.

I picked up these 9 cards from Sportlots back in July. The top 5 have a few parallels, lots of color in the top 3, not so much in the bottom 2.

It's always good to see Michigan cards, even if 3 of the 4 are edited jerseys. I do like the Classics card with the block M up there.

I picked up this serial numbered Father's Day card at the Fort Wayne show for $1. Another Michigan jersey and you even get the wings on the helmet.

These 10 cards boost the Darboh collection to 35 cards. I actually picked up a bunch of relics and a few autos before I started picking up non hits so that's another reason all these cards were good pick ups.

Sunday Schmidt

It felt odd not going to a card show this weekend. We've gone from hardly any in the area to almost every weekend. Part of the reason I never went to any were most were further away, an hour to an hour and a half so I would never drive. Now that Sluggo is here, I have someone to head out with so we've been hitting a bunch of them.

There was actually one this past weekend but we decided to take the weekend off because we are setting up at a show in a few weeks and we are prepping for it. We just found out next week there is one at our local mall, so no travel and we still get a show. I went to shows there when I was a kid so I'm looking forward to it.

Today's post is a Tier 3 collection. I did get some from Sportlots but those were fillers trying to get up to 4 cards per seller. Some of them came from a fellow blogger (he sent them awhile ago) and some came from my LCS.

I'll start off with a dime box pickup at my LCS. There were a bunch from this set mixed in and I picked up a couple of my Tier 3 players.

The next 3 scans were all from Sportlots. The stickers (top 2 scans) all came from the same seller. I only picked up a card or 2 then ran across these on his page and picked them up. The Stadium Club was from another seller and it was the same story, only had a card and then noticed a bunch of Stadium Club so I grabbed a bunch of PC's, including this Schmidt.

These last 10 all came from the Diamond King way back in May. I really need to get caught up on my posts.I hadn't added to the Schmidt collection since December of 2020. The top 3 all go to the Vintage collection as well.

These 16 move the collection to 153 cards which will get a big boost if I ever get around to picking up on Sportlots again as I just started doing my Tier 3 collections.

Donruss mistakes

I went over to my cousin's to work on pricing cards since we're getting ready to set up at a show in about a month from now. We're both pretty particular about how cards are presented at shows. We won't even stop at a table if there isn't prices so we make sure everything we have for sale is priced. Today we worked on dollar and up cards. We have a $1 box, $2 box, $3 box, $5 box and an $8 and up. Our showcases showed up in the mail today as well so one less thing to worry about. He's done a ton of shows, this will be my first so I'm a little nervous about it. I'll be heading over tomorrow for some more. We have most of baseball and football done so we'll probably work on basketball tomorrow.

Today, you get a tier 1 player that we haven't seen since December of last year. It's also a player that I have over 50% of his cards that are listed on TCDB so it's always nice to add to it.

I actually have this card, sort of. This is the error version and I already had the corrected. They mispelled the artists name on the back. It's not quite as annoying as all the trademark differences on the late 80's, early 90's stuff. I am collecting those versions as well but once I have one of them, I don't seek out the others but if I run across it, I'll keep it. I picked this up going through Sluggo's junk wax. There were a few hundred cards that weren't junk wax mixed in.

This is my 60th card of Dravecky.

I'm in the midst of a wife free weekend. She took off to Virginia to see her family so I have the house by myself, sorta. My son is here, but he works tonight, is hanging out with friends and working tomorrow and working Sunday so I'm pretty much by myself. I finally have a weekend free to watch all the sports I want from my recliner without interruption. The Sox are out of the playoffs and Michigan is on it's bye week so I have nothing to watch. This is some BS! I'm sure I'll find something but the only thing I yell at are my teams and I could yell, judgement free this weekend.

Today's post is another football post. Maybe I'll watch him play on Sunday. Not sure if I get the Cleveland game, not even sure if they are playing, but you never know.

Lots of Michigan cards and the start of a rainbow. I picked up these 7 cards this past weekend at the Fort Wayne card show. They were all $1 but they are parallels so I didn't mind dropping a buck a piece. I grabbed them from the couple that I've been buying a bunch of Michigan cards from at a few shows. I didn't hit their dime boxes this trip as she had said that they didn't restock them since last time.

These 3, I picked up at the show in Shipshewana. However, I only paid a dime each for them. They also came from that same couple that I purchased from in Fort Wayne.

This came from the show in Kalamazoo. I don't remember for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if it was from the same couple as well. I know they were there but I don't remember who exactly I bought it from.

This one did not come from that couple, I really should learn their names. This one I picked up at the National (I told you I was behind). I paid $1.50. I'm pretty sure it was in a box of half off stuff. I picked up quite a bit from that seller.

These 12 cards give me 18 of DPJ so once again, I've gone and went over double what I had before and I didn't even use Sportlots for these 12.

One of Three Devin's

And back to football. Guess it's fitting since the Sox season is over. This guy is one of many former Wolverines on the Steelers. I don't know how many actually but I know there's a few there. This player also shares a first name with a couple of other player collections.

I picked up these 6 from Sportlots. I picked these up in July because as I have said before, I'm a slacker and hadn't posted them yet. I haven't added any Bush cards since September of 2020 either so at least that's getting together.

I grabbed these from Sluggo, it's always nice to grab another Wolverine card.

These 8 cards, once again, more than double my Devin Bush collection. You can see why I like the Sportlots purchases. I should probably get back on there and stop spending my budget at card shows. I have 13 cards of Bush now.

ROY Jake Blue

We finally got to a baseball card post, still a Michigan guy but you all should know him. I've been meaning to boost his collection for awhile and I finally did. I knew he'd finally have some cards unlike some of the other Michigan baseball guy posts who pretty much have their draft pick Bowman cards and that's about it.

I picked up these 8 cards of the former rookie of the year at the card show in Kalamazoo a month or so ago. One of those Absolute is a green parallel but you can't tell that in the scan.

I knew after the rookie of the year that they'd start producing more cards of him. It's nice to see because I have a ton of Michigan guy football cards but not very many baseball. Excluding Larkin, Abbott and Getz because I collected them before I started collecting Michigan guys.

These 8 give me 11 cards of Jake.

Half my shoelaces

As I stated in the last post, Devin Funchess was my #2 football player collection. Today's is my #1. It's going to be a quick post like yesterdays because I've been a slacker and didn't get around until posting late in the evening. I won't say what I was doing because it was embarrassing (stupid White Sox).

You can see why this collection is #1. The 40 cards above came in on my first Sportlots order.

These 5 came from the 2nd Sportlots order. That last card is an AAF league card.

This card came from Dennis at Too Many Verlanders all the way back in June. I told you I was a slacker. I'm just now posting this and we're getting ready to swap cards again.

I picked up this serial numbered card at the show in Ft. Wayne last weekend. Come to find out, I already had it. I checked Dennis' cards, he has it. So I'm keeping it just because it's serial numbered.

I don't normally keep dupes because why do I need the same card, but I do keep dupes of relics, autos or serial numbered cards because technically, they aren't the same cards. The relic pieces aren't the same, the autograph isn't a copy so it's not the same and serial numbered cards all have a different number. I don't go out of my way to buy them but if one happens to show up, or I buy on accident, I'll keep it. After checking Dennis' TCDB first, of course.

These 47 cards give me 98 cards of Shoelace, closing in on the century mark.

The White Sox won last night, finally. They were supposed to play again today but got rained out so it's scheduled for tomorrow.

Today you get, surprise, another Michigan PC. I was happy when he signed with the Colts, thought I might to get to watch him play some but he ended up getting hurt and didn't play. Now he's in Green Bay.

It's late and I'm sleepy so you're going to get lots of cards, and a little bit of words.

Love that last card. All the above came from my first order from Sportlots.

These all came from the 2nd order of Sportlots.

Lastly, I picked this last one up from Sluggo.

These 47 cards pick the Funchess collection up to 90 cards which is my 2nd highest football collection. The guy in 1st place is my next post.
