Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

April closes

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

My last post for this month with 1 day to go. I've been working on getting everything I have on TCDB that I haven't been getting my new cards scanned. I'm way behind for next month's posts. I'm expecting my Sportlots purchase tomorrow, plus I received cards from my cousin Sluggo, Chris at Nachos Grande and even a couple from Kevin at the Diamond King. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.

As I stated yesterday, today's card is from 2020 but is also a Hall of Famer. That doesn't narrow it down any since half the cards produced now are former players.

I got to add one more card of Yastrzemski, this is the 9th card of his I've added so far this year, I've only added 6 in the last 2 years. It helps that I check out the 2020 cards on Sportlots before I go searching anything else. When I used Ebay I would go 6 months before I'd get the latest releases. This is my 70th card of Yaz and I only paid a quarter for it.

Tom Terrific

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

Only 2 posts left of my March purchases. Both retired Hall of Famers. One a Tier 1 collection, One a Tier 3. One has 4 cards, one only has 1. All cards are from 2020 though even though they both have plenty of Vintage cards out there.

Obviously, this would be the Tier 1 player. The black border ones are from this years Heritage and the other is an insert from Series 1. All 4 came from Sportlots and were $.50, $.49, $.25 and $.26 in the order of them above. These 4 cards put the Tom Seaver collection at 388 cards which is my 3rd highest player collection behind Cal Ripken Jr and Paul Konerko.

Quick post

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

Another 1 card day and another former Wolverine. Just a quick post as I'm pretty tired just from being on my feet today. Considering most days for the last month, I've had less than 1000 steps and today I had over 11,000. I'm pooped.

This is another 1st card of a new player collection. I haven't really found a whole lot of his cards in my price range so it was nice to grab this at $.50.

Last day of lay-off

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

I got almost all of vintage dupes logged into TCDB today. All I have left are the 1985 Fleer dupes, I saved it for last because it was the biggest stack. After that, I have to start logging all my White Sox dupes, which will take a little while, especially since I go back to work tomorrow. Does anyone know an easier way to log in cards for trade/sell on TCDB? I thought I'd be able to use the add to trade/sell and just check mark the ones I want to add, but when that list comes up, it has all the cards that I have already have checked which means I have to go through the same thing I do if I just go through the add page. Any suggestions are appreciated.

*Edit - Never mind. After I typed that out I decided to play around and found the add multiple, that went a lot quicker. I even tested it by adding the 1985 Fleer so now I'm done with the vintage collection.

Just 1 card today of a guy that I keep looking for other cards but can't seem to find, at least not in my price range, which we all know is pretty cheap. I just went and looked at all his cards on TCDB and he only has 30 so that's part of the reason I can't find many. Also, with the addition of the one below, out of the 27 left, only 1 isn't serial numbered and it's a colored refractor so I guess I figured out why I had trouble finding any.

Yeah, it looks the same as the other 2 I have. I already had the chrome and the refractor so now I have the "base" card of it. In case you don't want to do the math, this is the 3rd card of the former Wolverine.

Speaking of former Wolverines, at last count that I read, there will be another 12 PC collections, 10 guys got drafted in the NFL and the last I heard, 2 signed undrafted contracts and I haven't even been online to look and see if anyone else signed today. I'm sure it'll be awhile before you see any of these cards though.

Reds Saturday

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

I just realized it's the 25th and I have 5 posts (including todays) left for this month so it looks like I'll be posting most days for the next week.

I finished putting all my stuff in on TCDB. I'm still adding dupes but everything I have in my collections is on there now. I started adding dupes today but it'll probably take me all of tomorrow and then I don't know when I'll get to finish because I got called into work on Monday. We weren't supposed to go back until the 4th, but they are bringing in a bare minimum skeleton crew to get some stuff done. The way I understand it is that I will pretty much be working on my own, which I'm always ok with and in these times, I'm even more ok with but we'll see. Things tend to change. I have to admit I'm bummed about going back to work, I've enjoyed the last month of working on my cards daily.

Today's post is another former Wolverine but most of you, if not all, know this guy.

2 of the newer cards of Larkin as they are both 2020's. I paid $.18 for the Donruss and $.29 for the Topps. These 2 cards put that collection at 209 cards.

More Vintage

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

I got another question for you that Twitter didn't answer, like normal. I finished up my Frank Thomas cards today, took all day, but I have one card I can't identify.

The top picture is the card, it looks like the Flashback Friday set Topps did but it's a different picture and it's a mini. The bottom photo shows the size compared to a normal card. The back is just plain cardboard, no printing whatsoever. Anybody?

On to the vintage, I showed you the post of 1973's already, well today you get to see some other vintage cards. I bought a card or 2 from one seller and I went to see what else they had that I could use.

A couple players up there with decent careers, I picked up all 9 of these for a quarter a piece on Sportlots. These cards put that set at 79 cards which is 12% completed. Some nice pickups for the vintage collection.

Start of a Hill

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

Just a quick post, I'm watching the Last Dance so I'm rarely looking away from the screen to type this up.

Today's post is a one card post, one of those new PC cards that I've picked up here or there.

This is my 1st card of Hill who, obviously, is a former Wolverine. I paid $.50/shipped for this. He doesn't have a ton of cards but at least I got 1.

Some more 2020

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

First off, I asked this question on Twitter, not sure why I ask them there as I never get an answer but you bloggers/readers usually do. I used to buy my pages for cards on Ebay and now that I don't give them any of my money, I need a new place to buy them. Where's the cheapest place to get them? I've found them in a couple of places but when you add the shipping, it can get ridiculous so if you have a place that sells them as a reasonable price, let me know.

I've gotta say, I love going back through all my cards again. I read a comment from Fuji that said he's been trying to appreciate the cards he has more and I understand why. I get cards, I log them in and then they go to wherever I'm storing them and I don't see them again. I might have to make it a point to every so often, just flip through them again.

I'm slowly making it through the White Sox collection, alphabetically. The last player I completed today was Billy Pierce so I'm over halfway. I work about 5 or 6 hours a day on my cards. It's more or less, my job, now that I'm not working. I sleep in, grab some breakfast, go to my card room and work until about supper time. I really enjoy the time to myself with my cards.

Anyways, the random popped up with some more 2020 White Sox cards.

These 14 cards are all 2020 Heritage, I paid $.18 for all of them except the one with Abreu and some guy named Killebrew, I paid $.42 for that one. I picked these up not long after they were released, that's the bad part about posting a month after I purchase stuff. I just bought some 2020 Donruss and Gypsy Queen yesterday but they probably won't be in hand until the end of next month (they'll go to my Sportlots box) and then not get posted here until June. It is what it is, I'm just explaining my process some.

Possible new PC?

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

Thanks for the couple of people that commented on my last post asking for help. They'll just go down as some cards that aren't on TCDB for now.

Today's post is probably a future player collection. I've mentioned before that there are a few guys on the current Sox that I'd like to start PC's of but I always hate doing that now a days because nobody stays with the team anymore. I think I'm probably just going to do it, worst comes to worst, I just stop collecting the guy if he goes to another team and I get disinterested in him. I've had guys that went to other teams and I still collected them (Mark Buehrle) and I've had guys go to other teams and I lose interest in (Chris Sale) so I'll probably just go for it. I've already been setting a few players aside since I'm currently going through my White Sox cards. I don't know if I'm going to collect them all but I'm setting them aside to make a decision by the time I'm done organizing.

These 9 cards of Tim Anderson put me at 44 cards. I love the last card because it's the bat flip that pissed everyone off. The top 3 are all mini's which I'm not a huge fan of but they are pretty cool looking cards.

Help

Just a quick post asking for some help.

As you know, I'm organizing my collections and I've ran into a couple of cards that I couldn't identify. I asked on Twitter and got 0 responses so maybe someone here can help

This is a Nellie Fox. I can't find the pic of the front, I can go take another one tomorrow if you really need it but it's a Nellie Fox with a 1952 Topps design, not Bowman, Topps. He doesn't have a 1952 Topps card so it's not a reprint of any kind and the only thing different than a normal 1952 back is the 2 .com's listed to the left and right of the large "Topps Baseball" at the bottom.

This is a Bo Jackson, no number, no copyright or nothing. I thought I could find it on TCDB, I looked at all the cards in 1990 and 1991 that had no number. There was a couple that kind of looked the same but it didn't have the right photos and most of the cards I looked at didn't have any photos.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

More 2020

* I put my March purchases on random for today's post.

I received a package from Nachos Grande today. He had sent me a DM to Twitter about some White Sox cards he had left over from his Christmas Giveaway and asked if I wanted them. Hells yeah! I've opened it but haven't gone through it yet, probably tomorrow. I'm hoping I have something decent to send back even though he said I didn't need to.

Today's post is fitting as I've been looking a ton of White Sox cards lately while sorting all I have.

I picked up all these 2020 Donruss cards on Sportlots as well. I paid a quarter or less each for all these cards. I'm not a huge fan of logo less cards but I do like that they brought Donruss back, even if they aren't that flashy.
