Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

White Sox Hits

* I put my April incoming on random for today's post.

Today's random post is, wait for it, another White Sox post. Woo Hoo! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. These are all White Sox collection cards but there are a little nicer than most.

I'll start off with this Dylan Cease as it is #'d to /50. I like Cease but I can't decide if he's lived up to the hype yet. I'd like to see a little more consistency before I give him the thumbs up.

Told you they were a little better than usual. Some are dupes for me, I believe the first 4 autographs all are. There's a couple of decent names up there with Jose Abreu and of course, Frank Thomas. A couple of hopefully rising stars in Reynaldo Lopez and Tyler Danish. All of these were in the package from my cousin, Sluggo.

There are 2 more posts for this month, both vintage so all you non-White Sox fans will get to view something better, at least for you.

On a side note, I just finished watching the Sox/Angels game in '05 where AJ ran on the drop 3rd strike in the playoffs.

Random Cards #70

Before I get to the random post, I ran across this today. Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Baseball Digest is giving free access to their online archives. I've signed up, they don't ask for any info other than an email address. This magazine takes me back to elementary school. I used to check them out at the library, they had issues from the 70's and I loved reading them. If you're not familiar with it, the first issue was in August of 1942 and you can read it there as well. Here's the link to the library, I assume it will take you to a sign up page - https://digital.baseballdigest.com/library/#

I got throught the A's today on my White Sox collection. The newer players I can breeze right through because most of them are listed because I've been record keeping for awhile now. The cards I had before I started the record keeping take awhile to log into the spreadsheet. Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson went by quick even though between them I have over 100 cards, Wilson Alvarez, however, took awhile and I only have 34 cards of him. Tomorrow will start the B's.

Anyways, here's the random post. I took out the # because now that I'm going through my spreadsheet, I sort them by columns all the time so it's not in the original order. It's ok though, I marked a separate column when I've used a card so you still shouldn't see any dupes.

Lots of Shiny Autos

I finally got some cards after some issues. 4 cards in 2 envelopes. We'll start with the single card first as it was the envelope without issues.

This Topps Finest of Mike Hart was kind of a shock to win. I won it at $.25/shipped which considering it is a black refractor serial numbered to /99, is a great price. This is my 43rd card of the former Wolverine.

I picked up all 3 of these from the same seller. He shipped them via UPS with tracking and they were supposed to be here on January 18th and they never showed up. Late last week, I sent an email to the seller, I wasn't asking for a refund of any kind, I told him that I saw that they shipped but they seemed to be stuck in Illinois so he may want to look into it. No response but after a few days, I received a refund, but only for the Morel as that was the card I selected to send him a message. So I sent another message with the other 2 cards to let him know that if he's going to refund my money, then he needs to refund these as well. No response but when I came home today, they had finally shown up. So I sent him another email telling him they showed up and not to issue the refund on the other 2 cards. I checked the tracking and at that point, it still said they were in Illinois. A few hours later, I checked Ebay again and the cards were listed with a case closed because they were delivered. I ended up going on Paypal and sending the payment that he refunded me, back to him. Long story short, I finally got them. I paid $3/shipped for the Santos, $1.25/shipped for the Walker and $2.47/shipped for the Morel.

Newest Additions - White Sox Collection

I have randomed them and let's see what we got (unless you peeked at the title.) Sorry if a few are blurry, I didn't realize it when I edited them and I wasn't going to go back, find the cards and take new photos.

White Sox Collection

The last of my White Sox Collections posts from the card show. Grabbed all of these from dime boxes as well. I really liked the green Peavy and all of the red Turkey Red's.

Be sure to check out my other 2 card blogs as well.

Just like it says, photos of baseball cards. The "Blog" currently sits at over 4900 cards featured and I add more weekly.

This "Blog" has photos of the cards from my PC's. I have all the cards that were featured on this blog over here and will be working on adding all of my cards.

Everything from current to vintage sports pictures, baseball cards and more.

Vacation Pick-Ups #6–Autos and Relics

Even with all the awesome vintage I picked up (and you haven’t even seen it all), I did manage to find some cheap White Sox autos and relics.

nc01

I was pumped to get the Brent Lillibridge autograph.  I really liked him when he played for us.  He played everywhere and always gave 110%.  I have a few of Ryan Meaux autographs, I think he was supposed to be a stud at some point but never hit it big.

nc02

I grabbed thie Sergio Santos relic card because it has the vintage blue pinstripe jersey swatch.  I love the old jerseys.  And the Jim Thome relic because he was an all around good guy and it’s a pretty cool looking card.

Stay tuned tomorrow and I’ll start showing the Vacation Pick-Ups for the Vintage Collection.

Completed Team Set–2012 Topps

teamset2012topps01

This is the first of 3 2012 Completed Team Sets that Jeff at “2 by 3 Heroes” finished for me.  This one, the base set, being the biggest of the 3.

teamset2012topps02

I remember the Brent Lillibridge catch and it’s great to see it on cardboard.  As a matter of fact, if you click his name, I’m pretty sure I posted the picture after he made it.

And we finish off the Surfboard set, which I believe “Night Owl” dubbed it.  Any 2012 set is great for me to complete because I never bought a pack of cards in 2012

And in case you forgot, I don’t include the update set since they use a different number system.  I count that as a set on it’s own.
