Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

11 card Saturday

I would say that I got behind again but to be honest, I got a bunch of stuff in on Saturday. It's like the post office kept everything and delivered it at once.

I got 11 cards in 5 envelopes so let's get started.

I picked up these 3 O-Pee-Chee cards for $.25/each/shipped. I didn't have any from the set so it's a start.

I picked up these 5 cards from the same seller. I didn't have any of these Walmart Holiday cards as well and apparently after these 5, I only need 2 more for the set so yeah me. I picked them up for $.15/shipped, $.18/shipped, $.21/shipped and 2 for $.24/shipped.

Keeping with the White Sox collection theme. I also picked up this Abreu from 2018 Donruss but it's a black & white photo variation. I picked it up for $.25/shipped.

Now vearing off into Michigan players, this is a player collection though but I picked up this card of Shoelace for $.23/shipped. It's my 35th card of Denard.

Last but not least, I added this autograph of Jason Avant to the Michigan collection for $3/shipped. It is my 7th card of Avant in the Michigan collection. Avant had a pretty good pro career so I wasn't expecting to win this for $3 or under but there you go. That's why I put bid on cards even if I don't think I'll win.

Finally got some more cards

Like I said a post or so ago, there just hasn't been much to bid on so I don't have a lot coming in. I have been bidding on more cards so the number of chances have gone up, we'll see if I can actually win some.

I did get a couple of cards earlier in the week and another today. I've put down my dad's taxi hat for today so I had a few moments to get this done.

I picked up this Ozzie Guillen along with the following card from the same seller. I'm not sure I've seen these 1991 Score 100 Superstars cards before but I've won a few in the last couple of weeks. I picked up this card for $.15/shipped.

He also had the Jim Abbott from that set so I grabbed it as well. It was only another $.10/shipped. It is my 93rd card of the former Wolverine phenom. Closing in on that century mark of his cards.

I picked this up in a lot of 12 cards. There were 4 more of this card and 8 of another SI for kids cut out card of Pierre with the Rockies. So out of the 12 cards, I only needed one for my White Sox Collection so I only put my minumum for 1 card and still won it at $.17/shipped.

Plead for help

This post isn't sports related but I'm going to repost it here anyways, it is from my other blog but I'm trying to get the message out to as many people as I can so here it is.

Repost from "Random Thoughts From A Random Guy"

There's a lady at work who is one of the nicest people I know. She loves to have fun but knows how to put her boss pants on when she needs to. She's not technically my boss but I usually do whatever she asks because I like her and she always helps me out when I need it. I've only known her for about 6 months but she's definitely one of my favorite people there.

She has been battling cancer for awhile now. According to her gofundme page, she has stage 4 breast cancer but it's a little more than that. I'm going to try to remember everything she told me but I'm not guaranteeing all this info is correct. She has 3 different types of cancer right now. She also has a tumor that they need to operate on. She is going in for a surgery before she starts chemo and radiation and then stops that long enough for more surgery before continuing it. This is the 3rd time she has fought cancer, beating it the previous 2 times. There is no beating it this time, it is in her bones so it will always be there to some extent but they are going to try to get as much of it as possible.

They have given her 22 months to live. To her, that's just a number to beat. They only gave her a limited time to live the last time and she went way beyond it and then some. She has been missing work and her husband has been working during some of her appointments because they just can't afford for both of them to be off.

What can you do, well, you know what this is about. I rarely post on here for your money. I can only think of 2 other times in the 7 years I've been here. MS Society because of my wife, and another fellow employee that was battling cancer. You guys have come through before and I hope you will again. She means a lot to a lot of people including her fellow employees. She's just one of those people who you like to be around, and I want her to be around for as long as possible so please help. I don't care if you donate $1, please donate something.

I appreciate anything you can do to help. Cancer has affected my family (lost father and grandfather) as well as some who have fought it and are still around so I know how much this sucks.

Late to the party

I've been a real slacker, I've gotten a few cards in the last couple of weeks and I just never really got around to posting them so you'll get them all tonight. Luckily, I haven't been winning a whole lot lately so there isn't a ton of them. I'm not sure what's going on, there just hasn't been much in my searches to bid on, there was a few more this week so maybe it will start picking up again.

I picked up this Chris Sale for $.20/shipped. It would be my first and only (so far) 2018. This is my 131st card of Sale, my 3rd with the wrong Sox.

I picked up this Larkin for a quarter/shipped. I'm not sure I've heard of this set but it does look familiar so I don't know what to make of that. I'm guessing they only made Embossed for one year. It is my 154th Barry Larkin.

I love picking up these stickers. I remember filling up these books as a kid. I grabbed both of these 1982 Topps stickers for $.25/each/shipped.  They go to the Fisk collection as well as the White Sox collection. They make 160 cards/stickers for the Fisk collection.

I actually won a lot of 5 of these cards so if you want one, speak up or forever hold your peace. I'm not asking for anything in return, other than your address. I picked up the lot for $.15/shipped. Can't complain about $.03/card.  It's a 2005 SI for Kids which explains the perforation marks. It is my 442nd card of Konerko.

Last but not least, I picked up a couple of Sox prospect autographs. Although Micah Johnson is no longer with the Sox. I picked up his autograph for $2.50/shipped and the Luis Gonzalez for $3. I've heard of both of them but I've heard Gonzalez's name mentioned during our rebuild so they must believe he'll make the majors in the next few years.
