Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

More of the same

Today's post is a bunch of cards with a few different pictures. If you follow along than that should tell you who it is because I complain about it every time I post his cards.

The top 6 cards are the photo I'm referring too. These are 6 of the now 14 cards I have. Granted some of those are parallels so I'll count the different brands. 7 different brands used the same photo (Bowman Chrome, Bowman Sterling, Topps Finest, Topps, Topps Chrome, Topps Turkey Red & Topps Valor). The bottom card I have one more with that photo.

5 of the top 6 are color parallels and the bottom 3 are stickers. Sportlots boosted my Taylor Lewan quite a bit and it's up to 42 cards now which doesn't seem like a lot but that's my 4th highest in football.

Tae Tae

Well, it wasn't pretty against MSU over the weekend. It was a close, tight game when it shouldn't have been. Our offense needs to improve in the Red Zone. It's great that we have a field goal kicker that we can rely on but I would much rather have 7 than 3. The reffing was horrible and pretty one sided but that wasn't the reason we lost. Lack of red zone offense, untimely fumbles, couldn't stop the run and quite a few drops did us in more than the reffing.

I did go to the Notre Dame/North Carolina game that evening. I did enjoy it but I would much rather be in the Big House. I'm probably bias but our traditions trump their traditions. The night game atmosphere was pretty cool though and a 20 minute drive was much better than a 2 1/2 hour one.

Today's player, I believe I heard, is probably going to or already retired because of constant injuries but I don't know how true that is. I do know he was injured pretty badly a couple of weeks ago and he's missed a lot of his pro career.

This came in the last Sportlots package, the seller must have just missed my 1st shipment as it was the only card of him.

I picked this up from Sluggo. It was in the boxes and boxes of football cards sitting in my card room that I'm trying to sort but not doing a very good job at.

We were pricing football autos and I knew who this was right away, being as this is now the 8th card I have of him with this photo. It is my first auto of Taylor who was a beast in college.

These 3 cards make 24 cards of Taylor now.

Sunday Scores

Whew! Michigan barely pulled that one out but that game made me feel better about them as a team. They had a challenge and they stepped up and kept fighting. Nebraska was definitely better than I thought they were but I didn't know much about them either. It was a good, hard fought game, I'm just happy to be on the winning end.

Yesterday was a new PC but today is a guy I've had a little longer. He was a first round draft pick in 2014 and is still playing, albeit, I believe I just heard he was put on the IR again.

I picked up this one on Sportlots, it was the only one I found on there that I didn't have for under $.50.

I also picked up the next year's Score card from Sluggo. This one is 2020, the previous was 2019.

These 2 give me 23 cards of Lewan who is a monster of a man. He walked right next to me at one of the fan days and I felt tiny. I'm 6'3" and was probably 260 lbs when that happened. He was huge, of course his weight is more than mine, even now, but I'm shorter and wider, and not in a good way.

Sunday mail?

I know it's a Sunday and we don't get mail on Sunday but I was busy yesterday and I forgot to get the mail. I remembered to grab it today and it's a fitting card after yesterday. Most of you know, I'm a Michigan fan. What most of you probably don't know, I live less than 10 miles from the Notre Dame campus so yesterdays game was a sweet, sweet victory.

As you probably surmised, it's a Michigan card. This is my 18th card of the current Tennessee Titan, Taylor Lewan. I picked it up for $.29/shipped. As you can tell by the card, this also goes to the Michigan collection as well as his player collection.

4 Card Pileup

Since it's the 3rd day this week, the mailman decided to deliver 3 envelopes because he didn't want me to have to post everyday. In those 3 envelopes, I got 4 cards so the mailman gave me a bonus card for those 3 days.

We'll start with a couple of player collections. I picked up this Taylor Lewan for $.43/shipped. This is my 17th card of his. I generally pick up a couple a year for the last few years.

I also managed to pick up another Jim Abbott. I already had the base card so this die cut is a nice addition to the collection, even if it is a Yankee card. This is my 103rd card of the former Wolverines.

I also picked up these 2 1965 White Sox cards. I haven't picked up any good vintage in a long time. I paid $.53/shipped for the Schaffer and $.34/shipped for the Cater. This is my 12th card from the '65 team set which isn't anywhere close to having them all but that's alright. It is my 1st card of Schaffer but my 3rd of Cater, the other 2 are strictly Vintage collection because he was no longer with the Sox.

MLB and NFL

I got another envelope today and it wasn't even the other cards that I won with yesterdays cards. Check em out.

I picked up this future pitcher (bullpen at the rate his pro career started a few nights ago) for the Sox. Apparently, Optic is the chrome version of Donruss. I grabbed this for $.25/shipped. This was actually a 2 card lot of the same card and I still got it for a quarter.

I also nabbed this one for $.25/shipped from the same seller.  I didn't realize I just won it and he relisted another one and I'm currently winning it so I may end up with dupes. This is my 15th card of his but only my 2nd one picked up this year.

4 players, 4 cards, 5 collections

I hadn't posted the last couple of days because I just didn't get a chance to. Friday night we were running around once I got off work and Saturday we made the trek up North to Ann Arbor for the spring game. We left early enough to stop by Meijer to pick up a bunch of Michigan gear before heading over to the game which we missed the beginning of because parking was a mess. Lucky for us, Dennis from "Too Many Verlanders" and "Too Many Manninghams" scoped out some great seats for us. Great because they were next to the entrance we were coming in at and even better, we were out of the sun for most of the game.

I won't go into details of what I saw, good and bad, but just say that it was great to see some Michigan football again. It was also great once I got home to see what Dennis had for me, but you'll see those at another time. I've got them all logged on my pages and "scanned" so I just have to get the post ready but I figure I'll throw it up on one of those days next week that I don't get any mail.

Today, you'll get the 4 cards from the 4 envelopes that I received on Friday and Saturday.

Since we were talking Michigan football, let's start with this former Wolverine. This 2014 Bowman '50 Mini of Taylor Lewan comes to me for $.16/shipped. This is my 14th card of Taylor Lewan and the 1st of him this year.

Sticking with the former Wolverine theme, this is my 1st card of Caris LeVert. This 2016-17 NBA Hoops came to me for $.25/shipped. I've bid on a bunch of his cards and by a bunch, I mean every time I came across his cards, they were always in lots of 15 or 20 which makes them hard to win at a quarter max bid.

The 3rd card I won was another Jim Abbott, Yankee card. This 1993 Donruss Gallery of Stars came to me for $.25/shipped as well. It's not a great card but it stands out with the blue background. This is my 90th card of Jim Abbott and my 5th card this year so far.

Last, but not least, I finally got a White Sox Collection card. Or better yet, a Paul Konerko Collection card. This 2007 Topps Chrome Refractor came to me for $.15/shipped. It is my 414th different card of Konerko and my 5th card of his this year. I wasn't expecting to win this but I'll take it. It's the nice thing about being a White Sox fan, nobody knows about the players.

February Additions - Some Michigan Player Collections

This months pick-ups come from
  1. Jimmy at S.Mack Talk
  2. Ray at All Cardinals All the Time
  3. Sluggo (my cousin)
  4. JustCommons.com
  5. COMC.com
  6. LCS - Media Madhouse
  7. LCS - Just Cards
  8. Ebay
  9. Packs

I've randomed and todays selection are going to the Taylor Lewan Collection, Mike Hart Collection, Kevin Koger Collection, Mitch McGary Collection and Michigan Collection.

2014 Topps Finest
2014 Topps Strata
2014 Upper Deck SP Authentic
2015 Panini Michigan Wolverines Collegiate
These 5 are actually a part of my January pick-ups but I didn't get to posting them before the end of the month.

2008 Sage HIT Autographs ($1.25)
2008 Upper Deck Draft Editions ($.43)
2008 Playoff Prestige Picks Blue ($.55)
2008 Topps Rookie Progression ($.36)
These 4 cards of Mike Hart put that collection at 34 cards. Including the top card above, out of all the cards, half of them are autographs.

2012 Press Pass Fanfare Gold ($1.45)
2012 Press Pass Signings ($1.23)
These 2 autographs of Kevin Koger make 4 autos out of the 5 cards in his collection.

2014 Upper Deck SP Authentic Canvas Collection ($.75)
2014 Leaf Draft ($.45)
These 2 cards of Taylor Lewan put that collection at 10 cards. I like grabbing his cards because I was within a few feet of him at a Fan Fest and he was a monster of a man. He stood up and walked past me and I was in shock at how huge he was.

2014-15 Upper Deck SPx ($.50)
This card puts my McGary Collection at 3 cards now. It's progressing slowly but surely. At least 2 of the 3 are in a Michigan uniform.

1999 Press Pass Authentics Autographs ($.1.44)
2011-12 Fleer Retro 1998-99 Autographics Design Auto ($2.69)
I also picked up these 2 cards for the Michigan collection, I had a little money left after adding the cards to my cart. I grabbed the first one because it was cheap, then I decided to look and see what I could get for the total amount I had left instead of cheap and saw the Cazzie Russell and I had to pick that one up.

2014 Topps Finest Refractor ($.32)

New Additions - Taylor Lewan Collection

*For those new to the blog, all purchases were made on Ebay (unless otherwise noted) and all were under $.50/shipped.

I'm listing Ebay stuff but also I got a package from Bru over at Remember the Astrodome so you'll see assorted stuff from him as well. He was originally going to hook me up with some 1984 Topps (which he did) but he ended up sending a bunch more vintage as well as some White Sox needs. I'll be randomizing the posts like I did the last bunch.

2 more cards to the Taylor Lewan collection, at least they are different photos than the ones Topps recycled the hell out of. Which isn't surprising for the bottom card since it isn't manufactured by Topps but the top card is.

In case you're interested, the reason I pretty much always post pics of single cards is because of these 2 blogs that I use to store my cards. My Personal Collections (now with over 2300 cards) and My Baseball Card Obsession (now with over 2500 cards and almost 900 different card labels).

PC pick-ups for last week

I found out that I get 2 weeks off at the holidays.  Yeah!  The bad news is I only get my holiday pay for those 2 weeks so for 2 weeks, I’m getting very short checks.  So I have suspended my Ebaying for a couple of weeks so the posts will get smaller, if any at all.  I assume I’ll still have a few cards trickle in so there will be a post, just smaller.  I will still try to do the random vintage posts, maybe an extra 1 or 2 until the beginning of the year when I can get back into the full swing of things.
