Contest Promotion
I'm going to waste my 1200th post on a contest pimpage because the contest is that good. That and I wasn't planning on celebrating it anyways, I didn't realize it was 1200 until I came to blogger to post this.
Regardless, check out the contest at A Penny Sleeve For Your Thoughts. He's giving away $15 of whatever you want on COMC. You'd think he'd give away some of those cards in his title but hey, it's his contest. I shouldn't promote it because that means more people that I'll lose against but the 2nd entry will help me.

Contest win
Matthew of “Number 5 Type Collection” had sort of a contest. It was awhile ago, like the post with Ted, I’ve had them scanned and hadn’t taken the time to write the post. I’m not sure I remember exactly what happened as far as the contest. You just told him your top 3 (?) teams, and he sent you one of them. I took the White Sox (obviously) then I think the Reds and Mets (in hopes of some Tom Seaver love.) But Matthew selected me for the White Sox. This is just a few of the stack he sent me.
I have a few of the O-Pee-Chee blacks, I really like them. But I didn’t have those 2. The black border always goes great with Sox cards. I didn’t have any Denny’s cards so that was definitely a first for me.
Lots of Allen & Ginter’s love. Which is great because I never buy packs of that set. Too many non-baseball cards for my liking. I don’t love the mini’s like everybody else does. Too much of a pain to store. I haven’t gotten any mini card pages yet so they are just annoying. But I do need them for the White Sox collection so there you go. I feel like I’m OCD because I can’t say no even though I don’t like them.
And of course, getting White Sox cards mean I get some Paul Konerko’s for the player collection. Both these are new to that. Like I said above, I love the black bordered O-Pee-Chee’s and the UD Supreme card is pretty awesome as well.
Thanks Matthew, don’t let the timeliness of this post fool you, these cards were greatly appreciated. Check out Matthew’s blog over at “Number 5 Type Collection”.

Slacking and Prize Package
I haven’t been doing a very good job at keeping up my Zistle. Everyday I get a mental checklist in my head. Update my Zistle, work on the Google documents lists of cards, read other blogs, sort cards, scan cards. Then I get home, get online, get sidetracked with Facebook, email, fantasy sports. And get very little done, I usually read other blogs, but that takes awhile. A little faster now that I use Google reader. But I need to make a bookmark list of card blogs on Wordpress so I don’t forget those. Great, now I have something else to add to my mental checklist. I always think I’ll get caught up on the weekends, but then I end up working on Saturday and sleep in on Sunday and next thing I know, I’m heading back to work on Monday and got very little done again. I’m hoping to get some things done tonight, but you know how that goes.
Before I list the prizes, I just wanted to say, thanks! To my readers, to my fellow bloggers, and to the friends I’ve made in this endeavor. I never thought I would have as much fun as I have doing this. I realize that most of my posts don’t really concern most of you because they are about my collections, but for some reason or other, you keep coming back. I’ve been trying to think of “regular” posts that aren’t necessarily about my collections, if I ever think of something, I’ll let you know. I do the Photo Cleansing and hopefully some of you enjoy those but I’d like to do a little something else. We’ll see. I do have a couple of blaster openings coming up, maybe I should do those more often. I don’t buy too many anymore but it’s something.
Well, here it is, the highly anticipated prize post. I like to think everybody has been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for this post and possibly the next. I know, I may be delusional, but I do live next to Notre Dame so maybe their delusions are rubbing off on me. Anyways, I went to my LCS and Walmart and picked up the prizes. Drum Roll………………..
The top 4 people will get to choose from these. Although it may end up only being the wrappers because it’s really hard for me to have packs and not open them. Especially the Lineage, as you’ll find out, post contest on this blog. Both the Fleer boxes are from 1988 and the rack packs are 2011. Whoever wins the first spot, get’s first pick, ect.
I work till 3 tomorrow and by the time I get home and cleaned up, ect. I’m going to say you have to 5 pm EST to put your comment in, pimp and follow. To add your name, head on over here. I’ll random sometime after 5. We’ll see you tomorrow evening. Now, let’s see if I can get anything card wise done tonight. Oh look, facebook….

97 and counting
This is post number 97. In 3 posts, we’ll be at 100 for this blog. It seems like it went pretty quick. My first post was March 29th of this year. So I guess it really hasn’t been that long. Anyways, I’m going to do just a little contest just to see how it goes, I’ve joined a bunch of yours and enjoyed them, even won a couple. So I’m going to do the typical contest this time, if all goes well, I’ll do a bigger and better one in the future.
I’m still unsure of my prizes, but it will be free cards. I may pick up a few oddball sets from the 80’s or packs. I’m even thinking about 3 prizes, we’ll see. For now, all you need to know is the prizes will all be free cards. I’ll announce the prizes on my 99th post. With the contest winners announced at number 100.
I got excited when I started trading online because I actually started to get followers. But I’ve been stuck on 29 for awhile. So for this contest, comment for an entry, be a follower for an entry, and pimp the contest for an entry. So you can get up to 3 entries for this contest. So get crackin’, spread the word. You have up until 12 hours after I post the prize post. In case you haven’t noticed, I generally only post once a day (not daily) unless something strikes me as needing to get posted right away. So you have at least 2 days and I work till 3 so you will probably have until Thursday night at the earliest.

Contest winner
I got my winnings from Matthew over at “Number 5 Type Collection” for a contest he had in honor of Father’s day. All you had to do was comment on the post of what your and your father’s favorite baseball team was. For those that don’t know, my father was a die hard Cubs fan. It was a great idea for a contest and I really enjoyed reading other comments, some with stories of their fathers. Here was my comment.
My father was a die hard Cubs fan but he past away when I was 8 and so did his influence on me.
My whole neighborhood used to play sports in accordance to the season outside. During the summer's, we'd be playing baseball and everything would stop so the Cubs fan's could go watch the game on WGN. I never wanted to stop playing so I grew to hate the Cubs.
I stopped watching baseball all together after the strike in 1994. A few years later, when I started watching again, I grew to love the White Sox. And have ever since.
My mom tells me that one day I'm going to wake up and my dad is going to be standing at the foot of my bed, in full Cubs gear with a disappointing look on his face.
That’s pretty much the long and short of it. I don’t, however, hate the Cubs anymore. To me, they are just another team. Most White Sox fans hate the Cubs, and I’ve gotten into this argument with Sox fans before, but if you don’t live in Chicago, you don’t really have the hatred for the Cubs. I love to beat them, because as I’m not real far from Chicago (100 miles) so there are a crap load of Cubs fans here (including the majority of my family.) I hate their stadium and I hate a lot of their obnoxious fans, but I don’t hold that against the team. Personally, I feel sorry for their fans but that’s another story.
Sorry, I got sidetracked there. Here’s the loot sent over from Matthew. The prize was some cards from the teams in your comments.
All the Sox are cards are new to my collection and the Cubs cards are available for trade. I really loved the prize, nice touch with all the vintage especially the 1955, which became my oldest White Sox card. So, my question to you Matthew is, the 1972 Topps (NL Pitching Leaders) has Fergie Jenkins, so therefore is a Cubs card, but did you notice that Tom Seaver is on that card as well and did you know that he is a player I collect? Whether you did or not, I loved the card. As well as all the other vintage. Everybody check out his blog over at “Number 5 Type Collection”

Winner, winner, chicken dinner
“Baseball Cards Rule” had a contest in which I participated in last week. It was a test of strength and endurance of which I prevailed. Not really, I posted a comment, followed his facebook page and plugged his contest right here. I’m too fat and old for tests of anything that I have to leave my couch for. So this contest was right up my alley. I don’t have a Brewers trade partner, so this card is up for grabs. I’d like to get something similar in a White Sox fashion.
