Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Happy Anniversary, and Goodbye, for now

My usually clean desk isn't so clean.

In case you hadn't noticed, I've taken a little hiatus. I'm not sure how long it will last but the reason is a good reason, as far as my collection goes. I've gotten so many cards in the last couple of months that I just can't keep up. The posts are feeling more forced to get them out than just doing it for the enjoyment which is what I don't want it. I've got 2 4 row boxes of cards in my room that are waiting to be logged in on.

Box on the left is from Dennis, right is from Sluggo.

One of those contains cards from Dennis of Too Many Verlanders who traded with someone else on TCDB to get me a bunch more vintage so I separated all the cards into collections and put each in the 4 rows. Vintage (2 rows), player and teams. I wanted to give a little love to him for meeting us at the Lansing show, now I see why he didn't want to pay shipping. It was 4 boxes, that would have cost a bunch so I was glad he was able to meet up. One cool item that I'll show here is this uncut sheet from Star.

You'll notice the autograph on the left card of Steve Carlton, I believe he said he got this from the trader that he got the vintage from. This is a cool item, I like it.

I was hoping to get the stuff logged in this weekend but I just saw all the piles and figured I'd go in order so I've been going through the cards from the LCS, then I have a box from Sluggo and then along with the cards from Dennis, I also picked up some Michigan cards at the same show so that's 4 sources that I need to log. Before all those, I logged in this one though.

Mark from the Chronicles of Fuji sent this over when he read that I was collecting Darryl Strawberry now. These were all new to me, I really like the couple of oddballs at the top. I'm not sure what the envelope is, I couldn't find it on TCDB but it looks like some card shop printed these up and mailed them to make them look official. I don't know, that's just a guess. He told me I didn't have to send anything back but we'll see if I can't come up with something.

Back to my desk, I showed the 2 4 row boxes. Here's what else I have.

This is the small stack of Michigan cards that I bought at the card show last Friday in Lansing.

The 3 stacks on the left are all cards I need to put away in my binders. The next 2 stackes are White Sox cards to put away. Then all of those really high stacks on the right are all Vintage (mostly 80's) that I still need to put away. In other words, all those cards are logged but waiting to be put away.

Oh yeah, these 5 boxes, one a 3 row, are all the cards I have to sort for the LCS.

You may remember, before I started getting in all these cards, I was going to do the project of scanning all the cards that I still needed for TCDB. They were all non player collection cards as I usually scan the new player collection cards when I scan then but I've gotten so many of those in lately, that the 2 stacks on the left are player collection cards that I need to scan.

I do work on my cards after work for an hour or 2 since I'm getting off earlier. I do shows on Saturdays so I only get Sundays where I can spend hours down there.

Until I get caught up, on all of this, I won't be posting here. I will probably still do the birthday posts because I use those to track how much I've done since the previous year. I just wanted to throw out this post to show some love to Dennis and Mark before I closed this out. I'm sure I'll be back again some time, I usually do.

By the way, I started this blog 12 years ago today.

the Team, the Team, the Team cards

We set up at the Lansing Mall today, it was a good show with a lot of people but it wasn't as good as we had hoped it would be. It was good to see Dennis again. He came out to see and spend some money with us, plus as an added bonus, he brought me a whole bunch of cards. He made some trades on TCDB and picked me up a whole bunch for the vintage collection. I can't wait until I dig into it all tomorrow. He also gave me a bunch of other stuff from himself and knowing that we go through each other's TCDB before we send cards, I know I'll need all or most of them. I've been adding so much lately I wouldn't be surprised if I picked up a couple that he already had set aside.

I also picked up a bunch of Michigan autos for my PCS, some really good stuff, off the top of my head, I know there's an auto #'d to /5 so we'll see when I get to those.

I know as I pulled out a few cards that Dennis sent me, that there are more cards in that box that goes with today's post but I guess you'll see those when this post comes back around. It is late however, so I'm just going to drop some pics and tell you the year.

Out of all those fabulous team cards, the only card I paid for was the 1957 card. I picked it up at the Plymouth show from Nick who is a Michigan guy so I usually check out his table. I picked this one up and another really great other vintage that you'll see at a later post

Colorful Friday

The World Baseball Classic has got me so ready to watch the Sox. I just got to figure how I'm going to do that since I cancelled my cable. I'd pay for a MLB package if they would get with the times and not black everything out. I'm not sure why the MLB is so stubborn to change their policies.

Enough about baseball, at least for a week or so. Today's post is former Wolverine football post. It'll be a quicky as I have some things to do before going to bed as early as I do for work. I have to get up early to get up to Lansing for the card show tomorrow.

The top scan is from my latest Sportlots package and the bottom card is from my LCS. Lots and lots of color.

These 9 cards give me 24 cards of Chris.

I picked up this at my LCS as well, well technically, I pulled it out of his box of cards in my card room but I still got it from the LCS.

This card of Hurst gives me 21 of Moe.

These also came from that LCS box. The one on the left is #'d to /99 and the one on the right is to /199. These 2 are also rookies. I just realized, every card on this post is a rookie card.

These 2 cards give me 26 cards of Taco.

There is a lot of shinyness on this post

Sauce Castillo and friends

I'm just going to get to it tonight. The first player is the last of my January pick-ups so I'm gradually catching up.

These 8 cards of Franz (maybe 1 of Moe) all came from my last Sportlots package. A lot of them are from the Chronicles set but lots of Maize and Blue so it's all good.

These 2 came from Sluggo, lots more Maize and Blue to go with the Red, White and Blue.

I picked up these 2 at the South Bend show when Kevin bought out a couple of dollar boxes.

He does have some pro jersey cards. These 3 came from Hollisters at the last Lansing show, which is where we will be on Saturday.

I picked his out while sorting for the LCS. Obviously this is the purple parallel.

This one I have labeled as Man Cave but to be honest, I think it is also probably the LCS but I could be wrong.

These 17 cards give me 25 of Franz so it's been a productive couple of months.

These 2 scans of Sauce Castillo came from the last Sportlots package. I hadn't picked up very man of Stauskas in awhile so it was a nice package.

This one came from the sorting for my LCS. Which I picked up more cards to sort today. This is a Press Proof variation and is numbered to /199.

These 8 cards bump up the Stauskas collection to 39 cards.

This card came from my LCS sorting as well.

This was another card I picked up in Lansing from Hollister.

This Green, White and Purple variation came from the South Bend show.

These 3 cards give me 54 cards of LeVert.

Sorry about the quick post but I'm getting sleepy fast and I need to finish before I fall asleep at my laptop.

See you all on the flipside.
