Thick cards with Stripes

Kevin and I set up at the Plymouth show today. It was probably one of the better shows we've had there. I haven't compared it to the others yet but it had to be up there. We just love that show because all the dealers get along, we actually hung out for about an hour after the show just talking and joking around. The show is at a church and the table fees go to the church and the local little league so they also sell biscuits and gravy in the morning and hot dogs and chili for lunch. All the proceeds for that go to the church as well but if you've ever done any card shows, the worst part is the majority of them don't have any food available. Most of the time, Kevin and I go all day without eating. Next week we will be in Zeeland, MI which is about an hour and 45 minutes North of us. I'm pretty sure there is no food there either but we've only been there once to buy so we'll see.

I only came home with 3 cards today but I still have a bunch to add from this previous week and I've already forgotten what was in it so if I have more cards for today's post, you won't see them until I get to February posts.

Fred at work brought me this 2021 Flagship. I have most of the Series 1 so if I remember, this was Series 2. Fred has a knack for bringing me cards that I don't have. He brought me a 1994 Score last week, I was like, surely I have this, nope. If I didn't know any better, he was looking on my TCDB but as far as I know, he's not very computer savy.

Sluggo gave me these 2 cards of the runner up to the Cy Young award last year. The top one is the Royal Blue version, the bottom is last years Heritage. He gave me a bunch of Heritage that I didn't have that you'll see in later posts.

I mentioned before that I picked up some autos and relics at my LCS in his $3 or 4 for $10 box. That's where this came from. I have 3 auto's of Cease but this is my first relic. The pseuco-1988 Donruss was one of those thick cards.

These 4 cards give me 80 of Dylan, whom I'm expecting great things from this year.

Too Much Verlander

Today, they're announcing the Cy Young winners and this guy was in the race, sorta. He did end up 2nd in voting behind Verlander but most people doubted he was going to overtake him, even when he was missing time with an injury.

I already told you how I got the 582 Montgomery's so I won't go into that but these were the only 2 I added. These 2 give me 76 of the future (hopefully) Cy Young Award winner.

Friday Perfection

 Just a quick post tonight. I'm working a few hours in the morning before going to a card show. I'm going in earlier than normal so I can get off earlier to make it to the show so I need to head to bed soon.

Today's post is of Mr. Perfect. That should be all I need to say but you may not know which one so I'll just show you.

All of the above came from my first Sportlots package. Which is why they are scanned by years. You know I liked the guy if I kept collecting him after he left the Sox.

These came from my 2nd Sportlots package which is why they are later years then all the previous one. Except the top row right, it's from a set that's listed as multi-sport so they were listed after the newer stuff which is why it came at the end.

I like Buehrle because he didn't have the type of stuff you'd expect from someone who has thrown a no-hitter, let alone a perfect game. He always seemed really down to earth and just a cool guy you'd want to hang out with. Plus he's from St. Charles, MO which my family has a little history with that town. Nothing special, but I've been there plenty.

These 33 cards bumps up the Buehrle collection to 369 cards.

Mr. Perfect

Since I've changed the way I post (by player), you'll get some posts like the last couple with 1 photo (1 card and 3 cards) and you'll get posts like today. These posts will probably have less words because there are so many cards.

One lone 2004.

2005 Bowman's.

2005 Donruss'. The bottom left is numbered to /750. It's always nice to grab serial numbered on the cheap.

2005 Leaf's. I like the Century Collection in the top middle. The bottom card not so much, it looks a little better in real life but not much.

A couple 2005 Playoff's. I do like that one on the left with his number on it.

Some 2005 Upper Deck to finish off that year.

We'll start off with the 2006 Bowman and one lone Upper Deck.

2006 Topps. I like the co-signers and the Turkey Red but I prefer the base and not the red parallel.

Some more 2006 Topps. I like the Gallery photo, it's a unique angel.

An all Topps 2007. The Heritage is the Rainbow Foil and the Topps at the bottom left is the red back.

All 2008's. Finest and the refractor, the Topps on the top right is the Gold Foil.

2009's & 2010's. I think I was supposed to crop this into 2 pictures since the 2009's are on the bottom. Oops!

Lastly, some Blue Jays Buehrle's. These vary from 2013 & 2014. Actually, I believe they are all 2013 except the 1965 look-a-like Heritage that is a 2014.

These 55 cards bump up the Buehrle Collection to 336 cards. That puts me comfortably in 2nd place on TCDB.

Also leaves me far from 1st place.
