Wednesday Roll Cal

 Today we have a Tier 3 player chosen by the random. Right now, Konerko, a tier 1 player is my highest player collection but once I get to tier 3 players when searching on Sportlots, I have a feeling this guy will go in the lead. He's going to be closing in after all the cards today. A lot of different sources on his cards.

These top 2 cards came from Sportlots. The McDonalds (Donruss) at the top, I grabbed from a seller that I didn't have 4 cards from yet. The same for the bottom card only he had a bunch of 2020 Stadium Club so I ended grabbing more than 4 as I grabbed a bunch of Sox and PC cards from that set.

These 2 were part of my payment from Sluggo for listing a bunch of his cards on Sportlots.

The Topps Fire is a great looking card and I hadn't seen the Star card at the bottom before. The last 3 pics of cards all came from the Diamond King. Thanks Kevin!

There were so many cards of Ripken in this package that I just threw them up there to get them scanned. Some of those I was surprised I didn't have.

I like the leaf in the top right and the Legends in the center left. I remember buying a bunch of that Legends set back in the day.

A bunch of horizontals, that Stadium Club photo is pretty awesome. That last card is kind of creepy, I'm going to say it's the scan because I don't remember it being that bad.

As you can see, lots of Ripken's in this post. Dennis of Too Many Verlanders sent the last 4 scans as he is a mutual collection of ours. We tend to swap Ripken's quite a bit.

These 39 cards put the Ripken collection at 659 cards. Cal is 3rd with my PC's but with all the cards that they put out of him, I'm sure he'll bump right over Larkin and Konerko for my top PC once I get to my tier 3 players on Sportlots and I'm not real far from doing so.

Nachos Box

After the Sox won 9-0 yesterday, they couldn't score a run today. The ups and downs with this team are ridiculous. Dylan Cease had 3 hits yesterday in his first game at bats since high school and the Reds had 2.

Today's cards aren't Dylan Cease, but they are White Sox cards. This the haul I got (minus the PC cards) from joining Nachos Grande first breakers club. I believe he is taking sign up's for his next one right now.

First off are these 1999 Topps Tek. These are cool looking cards but man it takes a bit to figure out which design you have to put on TCDB.

A couple of 1997 Topps Finest. I never know whether I should peel the coating or not. I generally just leave them alone.

Another Frank Thomas card from 2003 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia.

I got all the 2004 Leaf "base" cards. I didn't get any of the "subset" cards (rookie, prospects, passing through time or the checklist.

A couple of 2001 Gold Label. I always like the Gold Label brand. I think it's the glossy photos that does it for me.

The only card I didn't get from 2003 Authentix was the ticket to the majors card which is a serial numbered rookie. I like the field background and the Sox logo but I wish you could see the logo more. I like how they look like a ticket though.

These 2 from 1999 Private Stock give me the team set as I already had the Frank Thomas. I also got these mini's

I just need the Albert Belle mini to complete it.

I already had 3 from this team set and still need 1 more "base" card as well as the autos and rookie serial numbered one.

I only got this one card from 2002 Topps 206. I have 3 others but that only puts me at half the team set but this is one of the 3 Mags, 2 of them are variations which this is one of those.

This is a huge team set, 24 cards not including variations. Which you could have probably guessed since I'm betting there is probably at least a couple guys that most non-White Sox fans would even recognize. I do remember buying packs of 1998 Pacific online at the local gas station in the late 90's. I was amazed that they had websites listed. You could tell it was the early days of the internet.

I wonder if this set didn't come out in series as I have the last 9 of the team set but none of the first 12. These were the only 2 that I needed.

Technically, these were the first 2021 cards I purchased but they weren't the first in hand so I've shown others before now. I have the team set (series 1) minus the variations but I don't remember if I got all of them from Chris or if some of the others I received finished it.

Chris through in a couple of these as well. I don't know if he had a bunch and just gave everybody some or if I got a couple because the game was at Comiskey. Either way, I'm keeping one for the collection.

Lastly, the hit of my breaks. This is like the Topps Tek as it's hard to figure out which one you have because there are so many variations. I think this one is 1926 Unblocked Legends. Why is this the hit?

It's an Ebay 1 of 1. It's a pretty cool card and a pretty cool serial number.

I won't go into all the players and how many cards I have but I will say that Magglio Ordonez is up to 161 cards and Frank Thomas is at 555 cards.

I was definitely happy with the breaks, had a good time watching the vids to see what I got and Chris lets you stack and ship when you want. Trade with Blue Batting Helmet

I haven’t been around much, I know.  I have still been reading all your blogs, especially “Night Owl’s” to find out what his next set blog is going to be.  But I just haven’t been in a great mood to post about cards.  Partly because of my financial situation limiting me from purchasing new cards.  Which should be getting better in a month or so.  And partly because I had been working on my Google document lists, which, for the most part, are finished.  I got all the Sox cards listed finally.  So now all I have left is to add the duplicate Sox cards to the available for trade page.  I have also updated my collection numbers to the right there.  So those are now accurate.  Too see my collections or trade page check out the pages box at the bottom right.

Rob from “Blue Batting Helmet” blog contacted me about the few Cubs cards I had for a trade.  I had just started reading his blog a few weeks before he contacted me and was enjoying it.  He does do baseball card posts, and mostly baseball posts with other mixed in there as well.  It’s a nice mix of posts and very well written.  Kinda makes my blog look like crap, but hey, your reading it aren’t you?  Maybe not now.  Anyways, I had scanned these awhile ago and for some reason, I never noticed that I hadn’t posted them yet.  So here they are, finally.

Here are just a few of the White Sox cards from the stack he sent.  You all know how much I like the vintage look-a-likes.  The 1987 Topps Steve Carlton I had in my Diamond Giveaway so I don’t have to pay to get it shipped now, which is great because the shipping is a tad ridiculous on that site.  The 1982 Donruss I threw in there because I don’t have very many of those yet.  Rob had mentioned the 2 cards on top when talking about the trade, they are pretty cool especially since I like the movie “Eight Men Out.”  These cards show the actors portraying the players from the 1919 Black Sox Scandel in the movie.  One of my favorite baseball movies, along with “*61” about the Maris and Mantle HR chase.  I hope to come across more of those in the future, like I said, I like them.

These are the 3 cards he sent for my player collections.  I thought I had the Paul Konerko but it was a different year that I was thinking of.  I like the gold edges on this one.  The 2 Dave Dravecky’s were the first 2 of my DD collection.  So a big thanks to Rob for those.  I have a couple of his cards on my diamond giveaway site as well but I didn’t have these 2 yet.
